Story
Welcome Honey to CCPAL foster Program. Honey is a 3 year old Boxer mixed dog. She is potty trained. We think Honey survived the flood in Kerrville. A good samaritan has taken her in and is giving her good nutrition and love until we find her forever home. She was really scratched up and had a wound on her front left leg. She will be spayed soon and she is going to the vet again for a follow up on her leg. Our guess is it may have gotten broken and healed back on it’s own due to what she has gone through. She is good on a leash, very loving and bonds deeply. She lives with 5 cats right now but she is much too interested and we feel her best home would be without cats. She loves all people and no one is a stranger. She is good with dogs her size and is an energetic girl. Her best home would be with an active and ourdoorsy family that wants a great companion to join them in their outdoor fun. She is looking wonderful and filling out nicely in her new foster home. She lost some muscle around her bum area due to the length of time she was without food. Despite this, she would make an amazing family pet. She would love to be the only dog and be the center of her families attention. She weighs about 40 pounds and is a taller dog but medium weight. She is great in a car and would make a great dog in settings where lots of people are around. She is lower in shedding. She will be getting spayed soon and ready for her forever home. She is currently in Texas and can be adopted locally or we can work with one of the wonderful transporters to get her to Washington, Portland, Minnesota, Vermont or all along the East Coast. Her adoption fee is 300 and transport is 200. Rhode Island and Massachusetts are not states we adopt to because of the regulations imposed by these states Contact Marlene at 210-867-1769 or email to ccpalinquiries@gmail.com if you have questions. Story
Name: Bonnie Nickname : Miss Priss! Breed: Boxer Age: 4.5 years Weight: 88 lbs. Before OMD: Surrendered to the shelter with her housemate, Clyde. We were able to bring both into rescue when two foster families opened up their homes! Clyde was adopted by his foster family and now it’s Bonnie’s turn to find her forever. Despite that rough start, Bonnie has decided life is good, people are wonderful, and love is absolutely worth chasing (like squirrels… which she also likes to chase, but for different reasons). Energy Level: Medium. She can play with the best of them but happily melts into a movie-night cuddle puddle What we love most: How sweet and affectionate she is. Her signature move - she’ll march right up and sit in front of you to politely announce she needs something. If you miss the memo, she follows it up with her famous grumble-moan, which translates roughly to “Excuse me human, I have requests.” Also: She has a designated kitchen spot where she supervises her foster mom’s cooking just in case a taste-testing opportunity arises. And yes, she is an expert manipulator if you don’t set boundaries (Her Boxer charm is powerful hence her favorite song is obviously Smooth Operator) Favorite job: Head counter of the household. She must ensure that every family member is home and accounted for, even if that means peeking behind the shower curtain. “Yep… counted!” Her Favorite Things: Her people. Snuggles. Belly rubs and her famous scratch spot tickled. Family roll call. Baths Least Favorite Things: Squirrels. Stray cats. Housebroken: 100%. She is a total pro. Crate Trained: Not formally, but she’s trustworthy when left alone. She may sneak onto the couch if you forget the baby gate (consider yourself warned). Dogs: Yes, most likely! She lived with Clyde prior and she gets excited for play when she visits Pet Smart, but also content as the only dog. Cats: Hard no. She votes for “chase.” Kids: Not tested with small children yet, but she’s adored everyone she’s met so far. Ideal Home: Bonnie would thrive in a loving, active home where she can be part of the family’s daily rhythm. Snuggles, playtime, and her very important head-count duties would need to be embraced. Another dog friend might be a bonus, but she’d shine just as brightly as your one-and-only. She’s loyal, affectionate, and eager to please. All she needs is a family who loves her in return. Bonnie is spayed, vaccinated, heartworm negative and microchipped. She is available for adoption to residents of IL and CT. If interested, please apply on our website.

Story
Name: Ada Nickname: Smushy Age: 2.5 Years Old Breed: Boxer / Pittie mix Weight: 60 lbs. Doppelganger: Olaf from Frozen (but maybe moreso his shy sister)- slightly goofy and full of love Before OMD: Ada was surrendered to animal control when her owners could no longer care for her Energy level: She is the perfect mix of Boxer playfulness and couch potato snugglebug. She loves to fetch, run, and go for walks, but settles in beautifully when it's time to chill on the couch. She is not hyper, but rather engaged and energetic during playtime. Descriptors: Cuddly, playful, silly, sweet, velcro, happy-go-lucky What we love most: Her "sploot" pose when she lies like a frog. Her head may be coated in actual velvet for how soft it is. How much she loves to be near her people. Her snorting (it's a Boxer thing, iykyk). Her sudden and silly bursts of energy, where she'll prance around with a toy in her mouth like she has won the lottery. What she loves most: Her toys (especially soft ones), treats, meal time, Collogon bones, following her humans around like a ghost (we promise it's endearing and not scary), nibbling on her toys while draped over someone's legs so she has all of her favorite things close by, and gently carrying her toys around the house as if they are her babies. Ada is also very gentle when accepting treats, which makes her easy and fun to train with. What she knows: She is a pro at "sit" and is currently learning "leave it". She is housebroken when she keeps to her walk schedule. What she is working on: Not jumping when she gets overly excited (before walks and meals). Leash manners and has been very responsive to training. Ada can be very timid and unsure in new situations and around new people. She is working on her confidence, but sometimes her fear manifests in barking at people (or absolutely nothing outside). She has not shown any signs of aggression and warms up quickly once she actually spends some time with a new person. Her least favorite things: Quick movements and loud noises Dogs: Yup! She has been great at meeting new dogs and currently lives with another female dog. She would love to live with another dog, but it is not a requirement. She shares toys well and can read when her foster sister is not in the mood to play. Cats: Unknown - She hasn't met any cats yet, but she would likely be fine with "dog savvy" cats. Kids: "Dog-Savvy" older kids would be fine with Ada. She has met kids while on walks and been very polite. She can be a little timid and afraid of quick movements, so small children may startle her at first. Housebroken: Yes, when she is kept to her routine. Crate Trained: Yes, she is crated during the day and goes into her crate with a treat. She did whine a little in the beginning, but now that she knows her routine, she is happy to chill in her crate until her human is home Life Goal: Ada is on a mission to pull every single toy out of the toy basket every day so she can share them with her siblings or humans. Her work is never done, though, as somehow, the toys end up back in the basket the next day, and she has to start over. Her Ideal Home: Ada is truly adaptable. She would do well in a home with or without pets as long as she gets plenty of attention. She thrives on companionship, so the more time she has with her people, the better. She hopes her new home comes with an unlimited toy budget, but she is willing to compromise on this if enough treats are involved. Ada is spayed, vaccinated, and heartworm negative. She is available for adoption to residents of CT, IL and their surrounding states.

Story
Meet our super handsome and sleek boy named Harvey! Harvey is about 1.5 years old and he came to our shelter after he was abandoned by his owners. A resident in our town allowed someone to leave Harvey at their home for a couple nights, but they never came back for him. Now Harvey is looking for his forever family! Harvey is a young boy who enjoys a good head and butt scratch. He has started to get more affectionate with us here and he learns routines very quickly. Harvey is a playful guy who especially loves the kong shaped toys. He will play fetch with those over and over until he is tired out. Harvey is a smart boy who listens well for treats or toys. He does have some dominant energy, so he will need a confident dog owner who will work on some basic training with him. Harvey did great at our vet office and loved everyone there. He is fine with other dogs, but we think he will want to be the dominant dog in the home. He can go to a home with older children 15 years old and older. If you are interested in adopting Harvey Please Email us at Adopt@savingpawsct.org for an application! His adoption fee is $75.00. PLEASE CHECK YOUR EMAIL SPAM FOLDER! MAC IS OPEN 7 DAYS A WEEK (M-F 8-4pm) (Sat-Sun 10-4pm) Applications must be submitted and approved BEFORE a meet and greet can be scheduled to meet an animal. Appts to meet dogs can made to suit your schedule, please email/call for an appt. We do prefer to be contacted by email for adoption inquiries at Adopt@savingpawsct.org. The office phone number is 203-235-4179. Leave a message, and someone will call you back promptly. PLEASE CHECK YOUR EMAIL SPAM FOLDER! You must be 21 years of age to adopt with valid ID. There is a short application for adoption, however if you do not own your home, or you own a condo, we must speak with your landlord or housing association giving permission to dogs/cats. Bully breed specific permission is required if you rent or own a condo. If you own your home, proof of home ownership is required. If there are other pets in the home they must be licensed (if a dog) and up to date on vaccinations. If there is another dog in the home a dog interaction must be done at the shelter before adoption, to ensure the safety and well being of all pets. All children in the home need to be declared and brought down to meet the animal. Applications must be submitted and approved BEFORE a meet and greet can be scheduled to meet an animal. An approved application does not guarantee an adoption. We do not hold animals for meet and greet appointments. ALL ANIMALS ARE SPAYED AND NEUTERED BEFORE THEY GO HOME. Name: NitroBreed: PittieAge: 4+ years oldDogs: NoCats: NoKids: NoMeet Nitro, a handsome sweetheart who’s the perfect mix of playful and easygoing. He enjoys his walks and has a nice, steady energy, so he’ll do well with someone who appreciates getting out and moving but doesn’t need a marathon partner. He’s a strong boy, but he’s also a great companion who loves being out and about. When it’s playtime, Nitro lights up. Give him his jolly ball, and he’ll happily entertain himself for ages, trotting around proudly like it’s the best toy ever invented. And when he’s ready to unwind, he’s all about stretching out and relaxing with his favorite Benebone.Nitro does have a high prey drive, so he’s looking for a cat free home. He’d also prefer to be your one-and-only dog, since sharing toys isn’t really his thing. Nitro would do best with older kids who understand his strength and play style.Nitro is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, and ready to meet the person who’ll adore him as much as he’ll adore them.If you are interested in Nitro, please fill out an application today! https://service.sheltermanager.com/asmservice?account=meridenhumanesociety&method=online_form_html&formid=27

Story
Meet our pretty chocolate colored girl named Mocha! Mocha is about 2.5 years old, and she is a sweet girl! She came to our facility after a young resident in town saw Mocha walking with a woman downtown who offered Mocha to them. They were told that if they didn't take Mocha, that she was going to be let loose to fend for herself. This resident took Mocha in for the night to keep her safe and then called us in the morning. From walking in our door, Mocha was a friendly and outgoing girl! She has a little extra weight on her, but with the right diet and exercise this could be worked on. She loves getting attention and she is food motivated. Mocha even likes wading around in our kiddie pools to cool off! She is looking for her forever family! Mocha is good with other dogs and she can go to a home with children 12 years old and older. If you are interested in adopting Mocha Please Email us at Adopt@savingpawsct.org for an application!
