Meet Stick, the boxer mix with a big personality and an even bigger heart. He might not have a tail to wag, but his bright eyes and wiggly whole-body greetings make up for it. He has a way of making people smile without even trying.Stick is equal parts goofball and sweetheart. He loves to play, especially if there’s a tug toy involved, he takes his tug-of-war skills very seriously. He’s always up for some fun and keeps life interesting with his silly antics and curious nature. When playtime is over, Stick is more than happy to settle in for some quiet time. He loves being close to his people, whether that’s stretched out beside you on the couch or leaning in for extra pets. Those calm, cozy moments are just as important to him as his adventures. He’s friendly, welcoming, and quick to make new friends. Like many boxer mixes, he’s smart, loyal, and enjoys having something to do, especially if it means spending time with his family. Stick would do best in a home ready for both playtime and snuggles.Stick’s adoption fee is $200. This includes his neuter, microchip, Rabies vaccine, DAPP vaccines, Bordetella vaccine, heartworm test (if over 9 months old), and he is up to date on flea, tick, and heartworm prevention. If you are interested in adopting Stick, you may fill out an application at www. tlchs.org or you are welcome to make a Match Making appointment to come out and meet him first. We are open Tuesday – Sunday 1:00pm to 4:00pm.

Story
Meet Angus Angus is an exceptional dog. We pulled Angus out of a high kill shelter before his time was up. His only crimes were being six years old and being overlooked for too long in favor of younger dogs and puppies. We’re so happy we got Angus to safety because he is a really really, really good pup. Angus is a 6.5 year-old boy. He looks to be a mix of Boxer with Basenji or American bulldog, but it’s hard to know without a DNA test. He is a large dog (65 lbs.) with long legs and a slim body. He has a handsome face with arresting ears. He is absolutely gorgeous. Angus seemed to have been loved at one point in life because he is so friendly, gentle and calm with impeccable manners. He has a regal presence and quiet pride. Angus loves treats and scratches. He is great on a leash and walks easily and leisurely. He knows many commands. He loves people, gets along fine with other dogs and we can test him with cats. Angus is athletic and would enjoy hikes and adventures. Angus may be housetrained. Angus is fully vetted, in good health and neutered. This boy was saved for a reason and we know his perfect home is out there for him. As a no kill shelter, Angus will have all the time he needs to find his perfect home. He is going to make a person or family so happy. If interested in giving Angus a loving home and second chance, please submit an application online at: www.charlessmithgallhumanesociety.org. Please email our shelter (smithgallhumanesociety@windstream.net) or call our shelter at 706-865-4135 and leave a message to make sure we received your application. All adopters must complete an approval process which involves a reference check with current/recent vet and a brief home visit if located in the immediate area. We do permit out-of-state adoptions. Adopters MUST come to the shelter to transport their new family member home. We do not ship, nor do we transport them to their new homes. Adoption policies and application procedures are detailed at the shelter website: http://charlessmithgallhumanesociety.org/ under tab All Adoptable Animals. Charles Smithgall Humane Society (CSHS) is a No kill shelter. Animals in our care remain safe with us until adopted. Resident animals are either owner relinquished rescued from area Animal Controls or high kill shelters. The facility usually operates at capacity with a list of animals waiting for space to open.

Story
Meet Jackson Jackson is stunning, matched only by his incredibly sweet and affectionate personality. If you are looking for your soul dog, your best friend, your ultimate companion, let Jackson be it. Jackson is very sensitive and wants to always do the right thing. He is amazing. Like so many great dogs, Jackson found himself on the euth list at a high kill shelter. With a huge advocacy team trying to get him to safety, Jackson was brought to our attention. Jackson is four years old. Our best guess is that he’s a boxer, French bulldog mix, but it’s hard to really know. His ears live in another zip code lol, and he has the most soulful eyes that just pierce your heart. Jackson is 55 lbs. of pure love. Jackson is friendly, out-going, athletic, smart, confident, easy-going, well-mannered, housetrained, and loving. He loves treats and takes them from your hand as gentle as a lamb. Jackson loves being with people. He would be good with kids (who are taught to interact with a dog properly.) He gets so excited when he’s taken out of his kennel, but he quickly settles down to a happy stroll. Jackson likes other dogs and does well with them. A kennel environment is so stressful for dogs, but when he walks by the other dogs barking at him, he shows no reaction. He enjoys running the fence line with his friends in other yards. He would probably do well with another active dog in the home, but not necessary, just a good option. Jackson is good with cats as well. And, he loves car rides. Jackson would love to be your hiking companion, your neighborhood walk guy, your lunch buddy and your curl up and watch tv boy. Jackson loves sunning in the yard and a fenced yard will be a must. He’s been through a lot and the demeanor he presents and his love for simply being alive are incredible. We’re doing everything we can to keep his spirits up. He’s receiving a lot of attention, lots of yard time, treats and love, but we hope his forever family or person finds him soon. Jackson is a dog of a lifetime and deserves to be in a loving home. If interested in Jackson, please submit an application online at: www.charlessmithgallhumanesociety.org. Story
Meet Davis Can you say sweet? Can you say incredibly sweet…possibly the sweetest? We can…about Davis! We rescued Davis from a high kill shelter so he could make someone’s or a family’s life rich and full of love. Davis has been nothing short of amazing since arriving. I don’t think we’re exaggerating. Some dogs just possess the sweet gene and Davis, despite all he’s been through, has it. Davis is about 2.5 years old. He weighs 51 lbs. He looks like a Boxer/Shar Pei mix (lots of cute wrinkles!), but small in size. He has a beautiful coat, warm brown eyes that beseech you, and an earnestness to do good that will melt your heart. He LOVES people and dogs, but no cats for Davis. Davis loves attention. He loves being loved on and in return he gives doggie kisses. Davis walks easily on a leash. He is a happy companion in strolling and sniffing. He loves to take it all in. Davis travels well. He has good, happy energy, but has a calm and snuggly side. He settles quickly. A fenced yard will be important for Davis so he can run and play safely. Davis is well-adjusted and is ready to embrace a family who will love and protect him. He will make for a wonderful companion given his easy-going ways and his sweet and friendly disposition. If interested in welcoming Davis to your heart and home, please submit an application online at: www.charlessmithgallhumanesociety.org. Please use the downloadable application found on our homepage. Story
Meet Ace! Ace is a sweet, affectionate boy looking for a patient family willing to help him reach his full potential. He loves people, snuggles, and being close to those he trusts. Although he's currently an outside dog, he used to live indoors and would likely enjoy being part of a family again. He may need a refresher on potty training, but he's eager to please and very food motivated. Ace knows how to sit and will politely wait for his food until you say "OKAY!" He walks fairly well on a leash, is crate trained, and sleeps comfortably with a blanket in his crate. He loves bones and toys, though plastic toys don't usually last long with him! Ace is sensitive and responds best to calm, gentle guidance. If someone raises their voice, he'll often freeze until spoken to kindly. He does well with most dogs but would need a meet-and-greet with any current pets. He hasn't been around cats. Ace is a little nervous around younger children but does well with older kids.
