Story
Meet Angus Angus is an exceptional dog. We pulled Angus out of a high kill shelter before his time was up. His only crimes were being six years old and being overlooked for too long in favor of younger dogs and puppies. We’re so happy we got Angus to safety because he is a really really, really good pup. Angus is a 6.5 year-old boy. He looks to be a mix of Boxer with Basenji or American bulldog, but it’s hard to know without a DNA test. He is a large dog (65 lbs.) with long legs and a slim body. He has a handsome face with arresting ears. He is absolutely gorgeous. Angus seemed to have been loved at one point in life because he is so friendly, gentle and calm with impeccable manners. He has a regal presence and quiet pride. Angus loves treats and scratches. He is great on a leash and walks easily and leisurely. He knows many commands. He loves people, gets along fine with other dogs and we can test him with cats. Angus is athletic and would enjoy hikes and adventures. Angus may be housetrained. Angus is fully vetted, in good health and neutered. This boy was saved for a reason and we know his perfect home is out there for him. As a no kill shelter, Angus will have all the time he needs to find his perfect home. He is going to make a person or family so happy. If interested in giving Angus a loving home and second chance, please submit an application online at: www.charlessmithgallhumanesociety.org. Please email our shelter (smithgallhumanesociety@windstream.net) or call our shelter at 706-865-4135 and leave a message to make sure we received your application. All adopters must complete an approval process which involves a reference check with current/recent vet and a brief home visit if located in the immediate area. We do permit out-of-state adoptions. Adopters MUST come to the shelter to transport their new family member home. We do not ship, nor do we transport them to their new homes. Adoption policies and application procedures are detailed at the shelter website: http://charlessmithgallhumanesociety.org/ under tab All Adoptable Animals. Charles Smithgall Humane Society (CSHS) is a No kill shelter. Animals in our care remain safe with us until adopted. Resident animals are either owner relinquished rescued from area Animal Controls or high kill shelters. The facility usually operates at capacity with a list of animals waiting for space to open.

Story
Meet Jackson Jackson is stunning, matched only by his incredibly sweet and affectionate personality. If you are looking for your soul dog, your best friend, your ultimate companion, let Jackson be it. He is amazing. Like so many great dogs, Jackson found himself on the euth list at a high kill shelter. With a huge advocacy team trying to get him to safety, Jackson was brought to our attention. After seeing his interactions and his friendly ways, we rescued him knowing that he would bring years of endless love to a forever family. Jackson is three years old. Our best guest is that he’s a boxer, French bulldog mix, but it’s hard to really know. His ears live in another zip code lol, and he has the most soulful eyes that just pierce your heart. Jackson is 55 lbs. of pure love. Jackson is friendly, out-going, athletic, smart, confident, easy-going, well-mannered and loving. He loves treats and takes them from your hand as gentle as a lamb. Jackson loves being with people. He would be good with kids (who are taught to interact with a dog properly.) He gets so excited when he’s taken out of his kennel, but he quickly settles down to a happy stroll. Jackson likes other dogs and does well with them. A kennel environment is so stressful for dogs, but when he walks by the other dogs barking at him, he shows no reaction. He would probably do well with another active dog in the home, but not necessary, just a good option. He loves car rides. We’ll test for cats. Jackson would love to be your hiking companion, your neighborhood walk guy, your lunch buddy and your curl up and watch tv boy. He is simply amazing. He’s been through a lot and the demeanor he presents and his love for simply being alive are incredible. We’re doing everything we can to keep his spirits up. He’s receiving a lot of attention, lots of yard time, treats and love, but we hope his forever family or person finds him soon. Jackson is a dog of a lifetime and deserves to be in a loving home. If interested in Jackson, please submit an application online at: www.charlessmithgallhumanesociety.org. Hi, I’m Pumpkin! I’m a 2-year-old Hound mix with a heart full of love to give. I may prefer to be the only dog in the home, but trust me—I make up for it with all the affection I’ll shower on you! I bond quickly and thrive on closeness with my people. I can be a little anxious at times, but with a patient home where I can truly relax, I know I’ll blossom into the best version of myself. I walk nicely on a leash, and I’m the perfect balance of playful and cuddly. If you’re looking for a loyal best friend to stick by your side, I might just be your girl! Currently, I am available for adoption. If you are interested in meeting with me, please fill out an application or call the Humane Society of Forsyth County at 770-887-6480. Story
Jackson is a handsome 7-year-old boy and weighs 80-ish lbs. Because he is a larger love bug who doesn't know his size, he would do best in a home with teenage children. Although Jackson is deaf, he is VERY trainable and has responded well to learning hand signals with his foster mom. He has laser focus whenever his toys or treats are involved. He is very snuggly-and likes to think he's a lap dog, despite his size! Jackson is potty trained, neutered, microchipped and fully vaccinated. Thank you for your interest in one of our Hero Babies! Before inquiring, we thought it was important to share a few of our policies. Your Current Pets - We do require that all of your current dogs and cats are current on vaccines and spayed/neutered. Adoptions - We do not have a shelter, and are a foster-home based organization. Other than meeting our babies at events, we do require that you have an approved adoption application to schedule a meet and greet. You can fill out an adoption application on our website, www.herorescue.org/adopt. Once your application is approved it will be sent to the foster family that is currently caring for the dog. They will be able to provide information on likes, dislikes, personality, etc. They will also schedule a time for you to meet the dog. We do require a homecheck prior to adoption.

Story
Meet Jack – The Shelter’s Very Own Batman Villain (With a Heart of Gold)Don’t let the dramatic face fool you — behind Jack’s striking, villain-worthy looks is a lovable goofball with a flair for the theatrical and a heart as big as Gotham City. With his bold markings, intense stare, and slightly mischievous grin, Jack could easily pass as a Batman villain’s loyal sidekick — or maybe even the villain himself if treats were the prize. But don’t worry, his “evil mastermind” vibe is all show. Deep down, he’s just a cuddly, quirky sweetheart who loves belly rubs, squeaky toys, and plotting elaborate cuddle attacks on his favorite humans.Jack is full of personality — charmingly dramatic, hilariously expressive, and always ready to make an entrance. He’s smart, curious, and always has that “I’m up to something” sparkle in his eyes. He’s looking for a forever home where he can be the center of attention, share his big opinions, and maybe even star in his own origin story. Jack would love an adopter who appreciates a dog with flair, brains, and a touch of drama.Ready to welcome a little chaos, charm, and comic-book-level cool into your life? Come meet Jack — the villain you’ll absolutely want on your side.Jack`s adoption fee was $200 (fee has been sponsored), which includes his neuter, microchip, Rabies vaccine, DAPP vaccines, Bordetella vaccine, heartworm test (if over 9 months old), and kept up to date on flea, tick, and heartworm prevention. If you are interested in adopting Jack, you may fill out an application at www. tlchs.org or you are welcome to make a Match Making appointment to come out and meet him first. We are open Tuesday – Sunday 1:00pm to 4:00pm.
