Story
Dana’s start was rough. At just 10 weeks old she was pulled from a dog dumping site in South Georgia, covered in bite wounds and weighing only 9 lbs. She was starving, scared, and surrounded by 40 other abandoned dogs. Since then she’s spent Fall, Winter, and Spring in rescue — watching Thanksgiving, Christmas, Valentine’s Day, and St. Patrick’s Day go by without a family of her own.
Today:
Now 6.5 months old and 33 lbs, Dana is blossoming. She’ll be a medium-size adult when full grown.
About Dana:
• House + crate trained — she’s got her manners down
• Super smart — watches, analyzes, then dives in once she’s confident
• Silly side emerging — classic boxer “air paws” when she wants you to play
• Loyal to her people — takes a minute to trust, but once you’re in, you’re in for life
• Snuggle expert — happiest curled up with a dog buddy or her human
• Dog social — truly lights up with another dog. A confident canine sibling will be her fast-track to feeling safe and goofy in a new home
Her perfect home:
Dana needs a family with at least one other dog to show her the ropes. She’d love an adopter who understands that trust is earned, and who’ll celebrate every little “first” with her — first zoomies in the yard, first toy she doesn’t hide, first time she falls asleep on your feet.
After everything she’s been through, she still chooses love. She just needs someone to choose her back.
Help us find Dana’s people.
She’s done the hard part — surviving, healing, learning to trust again. Now it’s our turn to share her story until it lands in front of her forever family.

Thank you for your interest in one of our Hero Babies! Before inquiring, we thought it was important to share a few of our policies.
Puppies - We do not adopt puppies under 16 weeks to out of state adopters. This is due to our spay/neuter policy, and all dogs must be spayed/neutered before leaving Georgia state lines. We do not adopt siblings to the same household.
Your Current Pets - We do require that your current dogs and cats are current on vaccines and spayed/neutered.
Adoptions - We do not have a shelter and are a foster-home based organization. We do require that you have an approved adoption application to schedule a meet and greet. You can fill out an adoption application on our website, www.herorescue.org/adopt. Once your application is approved it will be sent to the foster family that is currently caring for the dog. They will be able to provide information on likes, dislikes, personality, etc. They will also schedule a time for you to meet the dog. We do require a home visit prior to adoption.
Inquiries - If you would like more information on any dogs in the rescue, please email us at info@herorescue.org.
