Story
Jax was acquired by my son and my wife in 2020 from the Humane Society. He was 2 at the time. Apparently his first owner passed away. Jax is a calm and loving dog. He gets along fine with the two cats we have. We keep him in a crate during the day when we are at work, but he is not usually penned at night. Jax does not get the love and attention he deserves; he needs to go to a better home. I am willing to keep Jax for as long as it takes because he deserves a good home, not a shelter.

A SWEET DOGGIE FRIEND: Approx. 5 years old / Approx. 32 lbs. Hi there, I’m Harvey! I came to Mostly Mutts from animal control along with another friend, and I’m so happy to be safe and loved while I wait for my forever family. I’m in a wonderful foster home now while I wait for my furever family to find me. Perhaps you? • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS: I came in with a dog friend and have met other dogs at Mostly Mutts and liked them. Although I didn’t initiate play, I liked to run around a bit with and nap next to the 25-lb. puppy and 45-lb. 3-year-old dog I met in a temp. foster home, as well as the 8-10 year old female dogs I snuggled with in another foster home, so if you have a nice dog at home already, let’s meet! / Cats unknown. / I snuggled with and enjoyed my time with a 15-year-old girl I met in foster, so let’s meet and best no toddlers that I may bump over.  • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL: I’m a sweet, handsome boy with a gentle personality and a loving heart. I can be a little shy and timid when I first meet new people, especially men, or experience new things, but my friendly nature quickly shines through. I was just a little nervous for my bath, but I stayed calm and sweet, even politely lifting each paw for rinsing like a good boy. My foster says “Everyone who has met him, myself included, thinks he's perfect. He is such a good boy.” My foster thinks I would do really well with someone who is home quite a bit. I really love being her little shadow. Do you need one? Can’t you just picture it? Wherever you go, I would be there to trot alongside, hang out on the couch, play with some fun squeaky toys . . . wherever you are, I would just be happy to be there! / Energy level: 4-6.      • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY:  I've mastered the ‘sit’ command and I look forward to learning more. Let's continue my training together with the free lifetime training classes that Mostly Mutts offers for all their adopted dogs. / I did well in my crate at Mostly Mutts. In my foster home, I don’t want to spend much time in there, but when it’s time for bed, I go into my crate for a treat and may bark or whine for a few minutes, then I sleep well overnight. / My potty manners have been good on the shelter schedule. In foster, I did a bit of marking the first day each time I went to a new house, but after my foster tells me where not to go, I have had good potty manners after that.  • LIKES/DISLIKES: I like cuddling on the couch, treats, Nylabones, squeaky toys, spending time with my people and dog friends, and I’m sure we’ll find plenty more things we enjoy together! I also like riding in the car so I’m here if you need someone to ride shotgun! / Other than being rushed into new situations or new relationships and spending much time in a crate, like all dogs, I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, exercise, and training. • MEDICAL: I'm current on annual vaccinations, micro-chipped and neutered. I’m a sweet fellow looking for a wonderful family to love and be loved by. My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.  September 10, 2026, 6:47 am

Story
A SUPER FRIENDLY GIRL:  Approx. 6 years old / Approx. 31 lbs. Hi, my name is Nora! If you're looking for a best friend who's equally happy heading out for a run, exploring the yard, playing with toys, or cuddling up with you on the couch, I may be your girl! I'm a happy, playful, affectionate "people dog" who LOVES attention. I'm also pretty smart! I'm a proud graduate of the Mostly Mutts Prison Pups immersive training program, where I learned all kinds of skills to help me become a wonderful family companion. Now I'm ready to put all that training to good use in a home of my very own! • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS: I like the other dogs I've met at Mostly Mutts, and I also enjoy going for walks with them, so if you have a nice doggie at home, let's meet and see if we can be pals! / Cats unknown. / I haven't met kids yet at Mostly Mutts, so let's meet and best no toddlers that I may bump over.       • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL: The volunteers describe me as a smart girl who is fun and a lover of attention. I'm a 'people dog' who is playful and happy. I can be a little vocal in the shelter environment when I'm in my little room, but once I settled into the prison/foster training program, I relaxed and became much quieter. With a consistent routine and a comfortable environment, I show off my calm and easygoing personality! I am ready to be a great companion to a wonderful family. / Energy level: 3-5. • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY: I'm a proud graduate of the Mostly Mutts Prison Pups immersive training experience, so, I've mastered the 'sit', 'stay', 'down', 'come', 'drop it', 'leave it' and 'place' commands. I also use proper door etiquette and have good leash manners as well as accept nice strangers without jumping. Let's continue my training together with the free lifetime training classes that Mostly Mutts offers for all their adopted dogs! / My crate manners were good in the off-site training program. The trainers found that I didn't really need one and enjoyed sleeping outside of it overnight. / My potty habits were good in the off-site training program too.  • LIKES/DISLIKES: I love to give and receive affection—collecting snuggles and leaning in for a nice hug. It's just the best! I always enjoy it when the volunteers break out the toys at the shelter. Play time is always fun! Stretching my legs in the play yard in the off-site training program was one of my favorite parts of the day! I love having room to run and explore in a yard, and don't worry, I'll happily come right back when called. / I can't think of any dislikes, though like all dogs, I'm sure I wouldn't like it if I didn't get enough love, attention, exercise, and training. • MEDICAL: I'm current on annual vaccinations, micro-chipped and spayed. My tail has been amputated as I had happy tail, so it is no longer painful. Since my previous owner did not keep me on heartworm prevention, I came to MM heartworm positive. Thankfully, I've been treated for it, so all is good now. I will have my heartworm re-check in mid-December, so local adoption is best. I have moderate tartar on my teeth, so my new family should consult their vet about a dental cleaning in the future.  I'm looking for a wonderful home with a loving family that will treasure me for life! My adoption fee is $299.00, and I'm located in Kennesaw, Ga.  September 10, 2026, 6:47 am

A CALM & LOVING FELLOW: Approx. 4 years old / Approx. 41 lbs. Hi, I'm Matzo! I came to Mostly Mutts when I found myself in need of a home! Thankfully, they took me in, and I am soaking up all the love and attention from the volunteers here and I heard them say that I'm now ready to find a family of my very own. I think that is the best news ever! Plan to come meet me soon and see if I am your new furry family member!  • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS: I met other dogs at Mostly Mutts and liked them so if you have a nice dog at home already, let's meet! I also had a nice day trip with a volunteer and her dog, and we enjoyed each other's company. / Cats unknown. / I haven't met kids yet at Mostly Mutts, so let's meet and best no toddlers that I may accidentally bump over.       • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL: I'm a sweet, gentle, and loving boy with the manners of a true gentleman! I can be a little shy at first, but once I warm up, my chill and affectionate personality shines through. I'm a total sweetheart who has been very well behaved and even enjoys showing my belly for some well-deserved rubs! I was the sweetest gentleman for my bath, politely lifting each paw for rinsing and rewarding everyone afterward with lots of happy tail wags. The volunteers think I'm going to make a wonderful family pet, and I certainly have plenty of love to share! / Energy level: 4-6.     • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY: I'm in the Mostly Mutts University training program and have already mastered the 'leave it' command and I greet friendly strangers without jumping on them. Let's continue my training together with the free lifetime training classes that Mostly Mutts offers for all their adopted dogs! / My crate manners are good at Mostly Mutts. / I've had some accidents on the shelter schedule, so I'll need my new family to help me with this in our new home.    • LIKES/DISLIKES: I love sunbathing, rolling around in the grass, getting wonderful belly rubs, and going for walks. Life's simple pleasures are some of my favorites! / I can't think of any dislikes, though like all dogs, I'm sure I wouldn't like it if I didn't get enough love, attention, exercise, and training. • MEDICAL: I'm current on annual vaccinations, micro-chipped and neutered. I'm getting medicated baths twice a week for some itchy skin—just ask about this. These baths can easily be done in my new home.   I'm a sweet dog looking for a wonderful family that will treasure me. My adoption fee is $299.00, and I'm located in Kennesaw, Ga.    September 10, 2026, 6:47 am

Story
A FRIENDLY & ACTIVE PAL:  Approx. 1 year old / Approx. 36 lbs. Hello, I’m Rockette! I came to Mostly Mutts from animal control, and I’m so happy to be part of the family! I’ve had lots of fun with the wonderful volunteers, and I was even selected to participate in the Mostly Mutts Prison Pups immersive training program, where I learned so much. I was adopted for a short time, but my young dog mouthiness was a bit much for them, so I’m looking for a dog-savvy home that enjoys training and helping young dogs grow into their best selves. I can’t wait to find my perfect family and start my happily-ever-after!      • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS: I met other dogs at Mostly Mutts, and I liked playing with them!  So, if you have a dog at home already, let’s meet and see if we can be pals! / Cats unknown. / Kids 15+ would be the best fit for me since I am mouthy, so if you have kids that age or older – perhaps dog experienced, let’s meet!  • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL:  I’m a friendly, playful, and very active girl with a sweet personality, and a great smile to match! I’m a lot of dog with plenty of energy, lots of love to give, and I’m always ready to be part of the fun. I’m a kiss-giver who looks to my people for direction and reassurance, making me a loving and attentive companion. I would do best with a dog-savvy family who can help me continue learning appropriate ways to channel my enthusiasm. Sometimes I see side-to-side movements, like mopping or leaf blowing, as an invitation to play and may get a bit mouthy—even if your back is turned—so I’ll need guidance and redirection to help me make good choices. I also appreciate it when new friends let me approach as I just need a moment to warm up, and then my sweet, affectionate personality shines through. I have been on lots of daytrips / hikes with my favorite volunteers and I have gotten more comfortable seeing lots of people out and about. I’m ready for a family who enjoys an active, fun-loving companion and will help me continue to grow into the wonderful dog I’m meant to be! / Energy level: 6-8, so let’s be active together.      • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY:  I’m a proud graduate of the Mostly Mutts Prison Pups immersive training experience so I’ve learned the ‘sit’, ‘stay’, ‘down’, ‘come’, ‘drop it’, ‘leave it’ and ‘place’ commands. I also use proper door etiquette and have good leash manners using my EZ walk harness as well as accept nice strangers without jumping. A favorite daytripper says that on hikes, I may pull a bit at first, but using “uh-uh” and stopping until I use loose leash to “walk” helps. Let's continue my training together, as there are more classes we can take with the free lifetime training classes that Mostly Mutts offers for all their adopted dogs. / I’m doing well in my crate at Mostly Mutts, and I come out ready to go and have some fun – and a little excitedly mouthy! I would not want to spend a lot of time in a crate in my new home as I’m too active for that. / My potty habits have been good at Mostly Mutts and were good on the off-site training program schedule, too, and being crated in the evenings helps set me up for success so there are not overnight accidents.  • LIKES/DISLIKES: I love going for walks, exploring on nature adventures with my people, splashing in streams, and running joyful zoomies in the play yard! I also enjoy car rides, playing with toys, getting ear scratches, and spending time with the nice volunteers. An active family that loves the outdoors and spending engaging time with me would be a good match! / Other than possibly not liking hats, I wouldn’t be happy in a home that I didn’t get enough active exercise and good leadership and like all dogs, I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, and training. • MEDICAL:  I'm current on annual vaccinations, micro-chipped and spayed. I’m a fun and active girl looking for a wonderful family for life!  My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.  September 10, 2026, 6:47 am

Story
AwesomeSauce is approximately 8 years old, 60 lbs, Bulldog/Pitbull/Terrier mix who has had quite a bit of change in her life recently. After her original owner passed away, she was brought from Texas to Georgia by the family and came into our care in March. She is a sweet, loving, and gentle dog who enjoys relaxing, chewing her bones, and playing with her stuffed toys. She is potty-trained, crate trained, spayed, up to date on vaccines, and knows basic commands like sit, say, and paw. Her biggest challenge is being left alone. She can become anxious and vocal, sometimes whining or barking, but she is not destructive. She would do best in a calm, stable, cat-free home and may be happiest as the only pet. We love AwesomeSauce dearly and are not rehoming her because she is unwanted. Our circumstances make it difficult to provide the time and stability she needs. She deserves a loving, patient home where she can feel safe, secure, and cherished.

Story
Hello Friends! my name is Biscuit! I am a 4-year-old American Pit Bull mix that was brought into the shelter as a stray. My friends in the shelter think I am potty trained and try to keep me walked as much as they can. I have befriended most of the volunteers here as well as the staff. However, I do have a tendency to destroy my bed, towels, and soft toys. Other than that, I really am a good boy. We don't know how I'll be with dogs or children so, if you are interested in meeting me, please bring all human and canine family members in when you do. I look forward to meeting all of you wonderful humans, so please dont be shy and come meet me at the Cherokee County Animal Shelter anytime! Hope to see you soon and become your new bestest friend in a new furever home! Primary Color: Blue Secondary Color: White Weight: 66.2 Age: 4yrs 1mths 2wks
