Meet Rocky! He's the absolute friendliest, most loving boxer. He is good with kids and great with other dogs. He was found stray, but is such an affectionate and polite guy. He just loves to hang out with and love on his people. Rocky is about 2 years old and weighs 65 pounds. We noticed he was walking funny, so we had his hips x-rayed. It turns out he was likely hit by a car at some point because he has a crushed pelvis. There's nothing to be done surgically for it as it's already healed weird, but it doesn't impede him or hurt him at all. He loves running around and playing with friends! He just has a sashay when he walks, and will likely develop arthritis earlier due to it. Daily joint supplements are recommended by our vet. We're lowering his adoption fee to $200 in hopes that a special someone will love this boy, despite potential future limitations. To schedule a time to meet this dog, please contact ARL-Adoption@arl-iowa.org.---- Friendly, kind and cuddly; happy to lay his head on your shoulder or lap for pets - Seems to love everyone he meets and is always wagging his tail; makes friends easily with people he has never seen - Loves chasing his toys, then carrying them around and showing them to you! - Knows sit - A social butterfly with other dogs; seems very at-ease and would likely do well with many types of dogs - Very relaxed in general with a low-to-moderate activity level, but does have energetic moments where he will do some zoomies and greet people enthusiastically - Overall a very nice boy! The ARL's shelter software requires that we choose a primary breed for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most dogs we are only guessing at primary breed. We get to know each dog as an individual and do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not breed label. Everybody meet Cooper, and don't let his sad eyes deceive you. Cooper is a happy go lucky dog looking for an experienced dog owner who can help him with some training. He does great with other dogs and would love another doggy sibling to help teach him some more manners and to get his energy out. Toys are his absolute favorite thing and he will often take them on walks with him, carrying them the whole way. At all only being a year and a half he has a lot of life left in him and is ready for a life filled with love and comfy seats!
