Story
Meet Bambi! This fun loving, pint-sized girl came to us on a transport from a shelter out of state so we don`t know much about her history. What we have found is that she loves to play with her toys and is super snuggly once her needs have been met. We know that she would do best with an adopter who can provide her with some structure and a gentle approach to training while she catches up on her manners. Stop by our Methuen at Nevins Farm Adoption Center to learn more about this silly girl!

Story
Meet ZANDER!Zander is a very handsome 3-year-old Boxer mix with a big heart and an even bigger personality. One of his favorite pastimes is rolling around in the grass, and he`s always happy to spend time playing with his beloved stuffed toys. Zander has previously lived successfully with three other dogs in the past.In the home, Zander is a wonderful companion who loves being involved in whatever his people are doing. Whether you`re relaxing on the couch for a movie night, working around the house, or cooking dinner, he`ll happily be by your side offering his loyal supervision. He`s very food-motivated, loves treats, and is eager to learn, making him a joy to train. He already knows sit, paw, stay, and down! He also enjoys car rides and is a great passenger, making him an excellent companion for errands, road trips, and other adventures.Zander loves his people deeply and forms strong bonds with those he trusts. Because of this, he does experience separation anxiety and will need adopters who are prepared to help him continue building confidence when left alone. With patience, understanding, and a management plan that works for him, Zander will thrive in a home that can provide the structure and confidence he needs. If you`re looking for a devoted best friend who will stick by your side through all of life`s adventures, Zander may be the perfect match for you.

Story
Ruthie is a 2-year-old, 60-lb Boxer mix with a gentle soul and a brilliant mind. Before coming into rescue, Ruthie lived on her own for at least 6 months, skillfully evading capture, multiple trapping attempts, and surviving in an industrial area of town. Fed by kind mechanics and workers, she learned how to stay safe, avoid danger, and always show up for food — and that intelligence still shines through today. After a dramatic capture, Ruthie has been in a foster home, where she’s proven to be a very polite houseguest. She is fully house-trained and, even at her scariest moments, has never shown a hint of aggression — no growling, no raised lips, just fear. Ruthie is shy and deeply cautious with people, but she is sweet, gentle, and incredibly observant. We would not be surprised if Ruthie spent some of her life in someone’s home.  This brainy girl reads the room like a pro. She knows when a human might approach and will quietly skedaddle to keep herself feeling safe. While she’s still very nervous about leashes and handling, she allows most people to gently scratch her muzzle, and she’s learning — slowly but surely — that human touch isn’t such a bad thing. Watching her progress has been incredibly rewarding, especially as she’s started to enjoy ear scratches and soft affection from her foster mom. Ruthie is a great pack dog. She does beautifully with dogs of all sizes and temperaments and enjoys playful wrestling with dogs her size, but doesn’t demand play.  She happily coexists with the resident Chihuahua in her foster home. Ruthie is calm and content indoors and also enjoys a daily visit to the dog park. She’s a quiet presence who’s perfectly happy lounging on a chair, listening to her foster mom’s Zoom calls, and soaking in the safety of home life. At home, Ruthie is her foster mom’s quiet shadow. She sleeps in her room, wiggles with excitement when she comes home, follows her around the dog park — and yet may still hop off her bed and slip away if that same foster mom walks toward her for a pet. With Ruthie, trust is built in tiny, meaningful moments, and every day brings progress. Because of her history, Ruthie is a high flight-risk dog, especially in the early days. She will need a very committed adopter with a securely fenced yard, experience with fearful or flight-risk dogs, and a willingness to use safety tools like GPS collars, double leashes, and secure handling. Strength matters too — this is a 60-lb girl who needs someone confident and prepared. Ruthie has been around children at the dog park and treats them like little adults — with polite, reserved hesitation. She is food-motivated, sweet, and incredibly smart. With patience, structure, and time, she has all the makings of a truly special companion. Ruthie is one of those dogs who, with the right adopter and a few committed months of trust-building, will become a dream dog. Watching her finally relax, feel safe, and just be a dog has been an absolute privilege — and we can’t wait to see her find the forever home she deserves. ccrnewengland@gmail.com PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.June 13, 2026, 4:37 pm

Story
I adopted Bishop 6 years ago from a pound in West Virginia. I've spent countless hours loving and training him. Bishop is coming up on 11 years old so generally he's on the more mellow side. He's very loving with his people and will spend all day next to you on the couch or sunbathing. He no longer needs a ton of exercise since he's older. just a walk and a short play will suit him wonderfully. Over the years Bishop has grown into a lovely companion, unfortunately he does have a checkered past so he struggles with moderate resource guarding. Just make sure he's fed on the opposite side of the room from any other pets. He has a few select doggy friends but when introduced to new people and dogs things have to move pretty slowly. He has lived with other dogs in the past. I think Bishop would do well in a calm house with zero or one other dog, no kids, and either a large yard with no nearby neighbors or some open, calm space. Bishop is loyal, loving, protective, and a little crazy.

Story
Meet Binki—your resident goofball genius, professional good boy, and full-time “bull in a china shop.” At 3 years old, this pittie mix has the brains and the personality to keep life interesting (and entertaining).Binki already comes with a solid starter pack of commands—sit, lay down, paw, other paw (because he’s an overachiever), and even roll over. He’s incredibly smart and eager to please, which means he picks things up quickly… but it also means he gets bored just as fast. This is a dog who thrives when he has something to do, whether that’s brushing up on his skills, learning new tricks, or heading out on adventures. And adventures? Yes please. Binki loves getting out for hikes with our volunteers and would do best in an active home that can keep up with his energy and zest for life. He’s the kind of dog who will happily join you for a trail walk and then crash hard afterward like the satisfied little tank he is.Because Binki can sometimes forget his size and enthusiasm (again… bull in a china shop), he’d do best with older, dog-savvy kids who can handle his playful, sometimes bouncy nature. He can be a bit dog selective—though honestly, who isn’t in a shelter environment—but with the right match and proper introductions, he could potentially have a canine friend. He may also be okay with a dog-savvy cat given slow, structured introductions, but truthfully? Binki would be just as happy soaking up all the love as your one and only. This boy thrives on consistency, structure, and a home that appreciates both his smarts and his silly side. Continued training would be a great outlet for him, but even just keeping his routine stable and engaging will set him up for success. If you’re looking for a loyal, active, slightly chaotic best friend who will make you laugh daily and love you endlessly—Binki is your guy.
