Story
Meet Lilou! She is about 4 years old, 40 lbs, and she may have some Boxer in her mix! In her foster home, she is working on house-training, crate-training and leash-walking. She could go to a home with kids 10+ and other dogs. Cats are unknown. Her foster say, "Lilou is a sweet and loving girl! She loves car rides and curling up on the couch. She knows how to sit and will paw you for attention if the treats aren't fast enough! A good walk will do enough for her to be ready to come home and chill. She doesn't play with toys much, but loves treats and being able to be with her people. Lilou is currently living with another dog (Leo) and would do great with an easy-going dog her size to wrestle and play with. She does best with dogs her size, so no small dogs or cats would fit her lifestyle best. She is very food motivated and would respond well to obedience training! She is used to eating her meals in her kennel as well as spending some parts of the day in there. She doesn't chew up items, furniture, and has never gotten into the garbage or food bags. Behaves well in the house without being in a kennel! She is such a good girl that would love to spend her days going on walks and curled up on the couch with her favorite people."She is available for adoption with an approved adopter in Dartmouth, MA on March 1st. Please fill out an application on our website at https://www.browndogcoalition.com/adoptable as a first step.- Please thoughtfully discuss with your entire household the physical, financial, and emotional responsibilities of a puppy/dog BEFORE applying to adopt.- Puppies/dogs may not be given as gifts or surprises.- More information about our adoption process, application and adoption fee can be found at browndogcoalition.com

Story
Adoptable in: MA, RI, NH, CT, and VTGood with dogs: Yes, with proper, slow introductionsGood with cats: NoGood with kids: Older children only (16+)Crate trained: YesHouse trained: YesIf you’re looking for the ultimate companion, Jaxtyn checks all of the boxes: he’s extremely smart, attentive, dedicated, and eager to make his humans happy. (Plus, he’s extra, extra handsome if we do so say so ourselves!)Jaxtyn absolutely loves affection and thrives on the connection he makes with his humans. While he does prefer a slower introduction when meeting new people, he quickly becomes comfortable and loves to show off his impressive manners. Jax gets along well with other dogs after proper introductions (he can still be wary of new friends he meets on the street), and while he would enjoy a dog sibling to nap and play with, he would be just as happy as an only dog where he can be the center of attention.Jaxtyn has been working diligently on his training with his foster dad and has an impressive skillset that includes focus and release commands, expert-level leash-walking skills, and all of his basic commands like ‘sit’, ‘down’, and ‘wait’. Jaxtyn is fully house and crate-trained and thrives with structure and routine. Jaxtyn is currently working to gain more confidence on walks around things like bikes, scooters, or busy sidewalks and he’s making stellar progress. Jaxtyn would do great in a home in the city as he’s shown he can be comfortable in an urban setting or would love a more low-key house in the suburbs with a yard to romp and roam in. Bonus - he’s great in the car so he’d be thrilled to be your adventure buddy! Jaxtyn is an amazing boy who’s ready to find - and unconditionally love - his family! March 2, 2024, 9:47 am

Story
VISITORS LIMITED TO THOSE WHO HAVE SUBMITTED APPLICATIONS: https://lighthouseanimalshelter.org/dog-adoption-application/ -- 4 year old, 50 lb. female Pitbull Mix Dogs: With a slow introduction, Zoe loves other pups and will do zoomies in the yard out of excitement. Her ideal home probably wouldn't take her to a dog park but she'd still like to spend time with dogs that she meets properly and is familiar with. Cats: Zoe can live with cats who are tolerant of a playful pup. Zoe is a smart, beautiful, sweet girl. When we first got her at Lighthouse, she was insecure meeting new people. The more that we’ve gotten to know her, she’s come out of her shell with regular volunteers and has shown us how loving and silly she can be. When she sees someone that she loves, her little nub tail doesn’t stop wagging and all she wants to do is for you to say hi to her and welcome her into your lap for snuggles. Once you have her trust, there is no turning back! She is loyal and will always greet you with a smile on her face. Zoe is house trained and crate trained. Zoe has been to professional training so she knows basic commands and also knows some fun ones like how to give a high five. Zoe's forever home should be understanding about her insecurity with new people and will want to continue with her obedience training so that when she does get scared, she will listen to you and know that she can trust you. -- We do not adopt on a first-come-first-serve basis, but rather by the best match between dog and family, although we will factor in the order of applications if there are equally good matches. Our adoption fee for adult dogs is $450 which covers the costs of vetting (spay, vaccinations, heartworm testing, preventatives while in our care, deworming and microchip) and any boarding or transport fees incurred in each dog's rescue. Senior dogs are $250.

Story
Visitors are limited to those with approved applications. Adopt: lighthouseanimalshelter.org/adopt Foster: lighthouseanimalshelter.org/foster Thank you! Introducing Ariel - the perfect balance of "outdoorsy" and "Netflix and chill." This pup is all about chasing after toys and exploring new places on walks, but also loves winding down with her humans for some cuddle time. She may be a little shy around new people, but once you earn her trust, she's a velcro dog through and through. And let's not forget those gentle kisses - swoon! She's a smarty-pants too, always eager to please for a treat. Her previous foster family says she's already house trained, so no need to worry about any accidents. She is also crate-trained. All in all, Ariel is looking for a loving family who can give her the patience she needs to feel right at home. Apply now, and get ready for some serious snuggle sessions. Other Dogs: Ariel used to live with another dog before her owner passed away. The two of them ended up at a high-intake shelter in the south and Lighthouse pulled them both. Her brother found his forever home, and now Ariel is patiently waiting for hers! Ariel can sometimes be reactive toward other dogs when on-leash. Her reactivity stems from overexcitement and wanting to play right away with another dog. Cats: Unknown - she can be tested for applicants

Story
Visitors are limited to those with approved applications. Adopt: lighthouseanimalshelter.org/adopt Foster: lighthouseanimalshelter.org/foster Thank you! Cole is looking for his next new best pal! He’s spunky and fun and loves to play fetch. Even though he is a higher-energy boy outdoors, he settles so nicely in his room. He'll occupy himself with a toy or cuddle up in his bed and wait patiently for his turn to go outside. He'd make a great companion for someone who is looking for a copilot for all of their adventures but wants a snuggle buddy at night. Cole is an affectionate boy who has no shame in showing off his belly for a good belly rub! Cole loves every human that he meets but shouldn't live with small children as he can be jumpy when he's really excited to see his people. Cole has his own room so he is left loose throughout the day without having any accidents. We crate him overnight and he does great in a crate as well. He is quiet all day unless he can hear that his favorite dog walker is at the shelter! Other Dogs: When Cole first arrived, he wasn't thrilled about other dogs and we have previously posted him as an only dog. However recently, thanks to the incredible wizardry of Tyler (Cole's favorite dog walker), he is learning social skills. He has been on a few walks now with Tyler's dog (adopted from Lighthouse!) and the two of them get along really well. We're not sure if Cole could live with another dog right now, but now we know that Cole has the potential to make more dog friends Cats: Unknown - we can test him for applicants
