Story
Dane recently went on a Dog Day Out and here's what his DDO buddy had to say! "A Peoples' Day Out, as told by Dane: -This long-haired peoples showed up at the shelter this week wanting me to take her out. Word on the kennels was that she doesn't know a Chihuahua from a St. Bernard; I even heard her called a 'crazy cat lady'. But I figured "Why not? I'll take this peoples out for a day of fun, she might be a little lonely." -Her car seemed up-to-snuff, so I jumped right in and got all the butt-wiggles out of the way. I then licked her cheek to let her know we were ready to hit the road! -Our first stop was Sweetwater Court Private Dog Playground and Gardens, the place with all the toys and treats just for me. I needed to get this long-haired peoples some exercise off-leash so I had her throwing me the ball and running everywhere. She got tired real quick but I was just getting started! -Next I took the peoples hiking at Gibson Park. I figured she needed some sun-she's so pale I think she glows in the dark. I walked her for a good 2-3 miles and made sure to sniff and mark all the trails so she wouldn't get lost. I also gently greeted all the peoples we saw because a guy can't be rude. When the long-haired peoples laid on the grass to rest, I gave her soooo many kisses. I love it when the peoples get down to my level! -We then went to Freddy's so I could get her a treat. I'm pretty fit these days so I got myself a pup cup with no guilt. The peoples in the drive-through window said I'm beautiful but I already knew that. I'm also a loyal companion, but I'm not for everyone. You see, I'm on a solo journey in this life. I prefer peoples to other dogs, but I hear that's not uncommon, since some peoples prefer dogs to other peoples. I'm Gen X all the way and that's just how I roll. -Last I took the long-haired peoples to All Pets Considered so she could get me a toy. I politely sniffed all the merch but didn't find just the thing, so I'll have to bring the peoples back another day. The staff fell in love with me, and when the long-haired peoples told them I'm now the longest timer at the shelter, they posted me on the social medias to help you find me. -It was then time to go back to the shelter. I was a little tired but nothing like you'd expect for my age [I'm 8]. I did take a few quick naps in the backseat, but not wanting to miss too much, I kept waking up and sticking my head out the window 'cause SOTO (Sun's Out Tongue's Out!) -If you need a Peoples' Day Out too, come see me, my name is Dane and I'm your guy. You can find me from 12-4 pm every day but Tuesday or you can text my foster secretary Kendelle Federico at 336-266-4138. I also do permanent house calls. By the way, I hear the long-haired peoples was so tired after our day out that she napped for 5 hours. ~Dane the goodest boii" This brindle beauty doesn't like to give up his toys so a patient person who will trade toys with him will be best (though we think this behavior is related to kennel stress and will be less of an obstacle after he decompresses). He hasn't shown any aggression, but he hovers over the toys. Dane would do best in an only dog home, but CAN be safely walked in a neighborhood! To meet your future pet, come to Guilford County Animal Services between 12 and 4 any day except Tuesday!

Story
Mellow recently went on a Dog Day Out and here's what his DDO buddy had to say! "Attention boxer lovers! Meet Mellow! A 6 years old, heartworm Neg, 44 lbs charmer Mellow is truly the perfect name for this chill dude. At 6 years old, Mellow has the perfect balance of fun, while also knowing when it's best to be calm. Mellow was the perfect gentleman on our DDO. Mellow is fantastic in the car, jumping in by himself and settling down nicely, even falling asleep at times. We started off with a bath and a nice stroll around the neighborhood. Mellow enjoyed his walk, but was even more excited for nap time! Post-nap, we visited a brewery and we think that he would just be the perfect brewery buddy! He is quite a little love bug, and likes to be at his human's side. We think that Mellow would make a fabulous pet and great addition to any family, and we hope he finds a very loving home, because his boy has a lot of love to give!" To meet Mellow, come to Guilford County Animal Services between 12 and 4 any day except Tuesday!

Story
Tony Tiger is a very special boy. When he first came to the shelter, he was terrified. Very untrusting and very unsure. With the hard work of staff and volunteers, Tony Tiger has truly blossomed into a loving, fun, gentle dog. When Tony Tiger leaves his kennel, he is always excited to go play in the yard. He may initially jump up, but is easily redirected and always settles. He enjoys playing a good game of fetch and soliciting attention from his human. It'd be easy to train Tony as he is motivated by treats, toys, and praise! On a Dog Day Out, Tony Tiger did beautifully in public. Though he initially pulls on leash, he settles into a nice pace making it easy to walk him through a store or restaurant. He does pull for a good sniff, though! Tony surprised us by being eager to meet new people! He was very sweet and gentle when greeting people and making new friends. We suspect he'd make a wonderful coffee shop companion or brewery buddy! Tony Tiger is an overall quiet boy who doesn't protest to much. On his Dog Day Out, he did not bark at strangers or other dogs. He also rode beautifully in the car, simply enjoying the ride and looking forward to his next destination. Tony Tiger is listed as Adult-Only Home Preferred due to how truly scared he was when first coming to the shelter. He has not shown any aggression towards children; we simply want him to be able to unwind in a more quiet home since his transition to the shelter was initially so difficult for him. Though he has not been tested with another dog, he has had positive interactions with other dogs through a fence. As always, we strongly recommend bringing any resident dogs in for a meet and greet to be sure it's a good match. When bringing resident dogs to the shelter, please be sure to bring proof of Rabies, DHPP, and Bordetella vaccines. To meet our special boy Tony Tiger, come to Guilford County Animal Services between 12 and 4 any day except Tuesdays! If interested in fostering this handsome boy, reach out to Kendelle at kfederico@guilfordcountync.gov.
