Story
Azari is a charming 4-year-old, 49 lb Bulldog mix who’s ready to find his new home! This calm and sweet boy is a joy to be around. He walks great on a leash with no pulling, making him the perfect walking buddy. Azari knows how to sit on command, and he’s so eager to please that he often sits before you even say it, especially if there’s a treat involved! He loves sniffing around and exploring his environment. When he's in the mood, Azari enjoys playing tug of war and fetch, but his overall demeanor is calm and laid-back. He does great during baths and is very well-behaved at the pet store, showing how adaptable and sweet-natured he is. Azari rides well in the car, settling down quickly after a brief moment of wanting to get up to the front. He’s treat-motivated and takes them gently, showing just how well-mannered he is. This affectionate and easygoing pup will make a wonderful companion for any family. If you're looking for a calm yet playful dog who loves affection and is well-behaved, Azari could be the perfect fit for you! As always, we strongly recommend bringing any resident dogs to the shelter for a meet and greet with potential new family members to be sure it's a good match. If bringing a dog for a meet and greet, please bring proof of up to date rabies, bordetella, and DHPP vaccines. To meet your future pet, come to Guilford County Animal Services between 12 and 4 any day except Tuesday!

Story
Meet Stallion – a lovable pup with the most stunning eyes! At about 10 months old and 44 pounds, Stallion is a charming young dog with a heart full of love and eyes that stop people in their tracks. He’s affectionate, playful, and eager to make new friends—both human and canine. Stallion has a joyful energy, especially when he first comes out of his kennel, but he calms down nicely after a short walk. He walks well on leash and loves to take his time sniffing everything. He pulls a little, especially when he’s excited to say hi to someone new. He does great in outdoor public settings, greeting strangers with a wagging tail and a happy attitude. He shows positive body language when seeing other dogs, usually wagging his tail and staying relaxed. While he’s a bit scared to get into the car, with a little help he hops in and then rides like a champ—laying down and relaxing for the trip. He also shows signs of being housetrained. Stallion absolutely loves affection. He jumps up when he’s excited or when he’s asking for pets, and he would happily be your lap dog if you let him. He’s soft, calm, playful, and incredibly sweet—a truly handsome boy who’s ready to find his person. If you're looking for a loyal, cuddly, and fun companion, Stallion is ready to bounce into your life. Stallion has shown positive interest in other dogs. As always, we strongly recommend bringing any resident dogs to the shelter for a meet and greet with potential new family members to be sure it's a good match. Story
Hey y’all! Queen here, reporting in after my Dog Day Out at Eno River State Park in Durham—and let me tell you, it was FUNBELIEVABLE!First things first, my car-riding skills? Unmatched. I’m in and out of the car at the crack of the door, and during the ride? Calm, cool, and collected. My DDO pal was clearly impressed. After a brunch fit for—well, you guessed it—a Queen, we hit the trails. I might have pulled a bit on the leash at first, but only because my pal was “slower than molasses in January.” Once we got moving, though, I was in my element.I conquered a suspension bridge not once, but TWICE—while some of my canine comrades wouldn’t even dare. No big deal for this adventurous gal.Oh, and speaking of challenges, the trails were swarming with tiny hoomans on a school field trip. But did I let that slow me down? Nope! I expertly weaved around them like a true trailblazer. Though, for reasons beyond me, I was called “Scooby-Doo” several times. I graciously let it slide. After seven miles of hiking glory, I capped off the day with another meal that was WAGNIFICENT.Now, I may have dazzled on the trails, but the only thing that could top today’s adventure? Finding my forever or foster home. You’d be hard-pressed to find a smarter, more affectionate lady than me.Ready to meet your new hiking buddy? Let’s make it happen!

Story
Our beautiful Gracie Ann... what can we tell you about her in this short bio? She was found some months back, dumped in a grocery store parking lot. Alone and scared. No idea why she was dumped, no idea what she had done wrong to be deserted. One of our rescue partners called us and we jumped into action! While, we normally cannot take dogs larger than 35#, we couldn't say "no". She needed us! Gracie joined the pack of one of our fabulous fosters and fell into the role of loving life, indoors and warm! When Gracie came to us, we thought she was pregnant. Her stomach was full like she was ready to give birth. We waited. No puppies. She ate a lot.... still no puppies. We took her to the vet and confirmed, not pregnant but was in heat. Her foster mom would be out of town for a few weeks, and we would have her spayed when she returned. Gracie started losing weight rapidly. We rushed her to the vet and found out that she had pyometra. This is life or death! One vet wanted to put her to sleep because the procedure is so costly! For a rescue, $5k is a lot to absorb! We got a second opinion and are so glad that we did! Our vet gave us hope! Gracie had the surgery that afternoon and it was touch and go for a while. She stayed in the hospital for days. Today, she is fully healthy! Her bloodwork is perfect! Gracie is 23 months old. She is up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative and on prevention. She is spayed and chipped. Gracie is housetrained and can be trusted outside of a crate. She is such a great dog! She will do best in a home with another dog as she LOVES to play, and we do not feel that placing her without a companion is in her best interest. Story
Meet Bobble! It is hard to say that we have ever seen such a ridiculously breed mix before we met Bobble! Bobble is a muscular, low-riding terrier mix (possibly with dachshund, corgi, or Basset hound) with a big head and an even bigger personality! Estimated to be around 4 years old and weighing 37 pounds, Bobble is full of energy and loves the outdoors—whether he’s playing ball, sunbathing, or exploring the yard. Bobble plays hard but settles well when asked. He takes treats and toys gently but prefers not to give them up. He is crate trained, enjoys eating his meals in his crate, and appears to be potty trained when kept on a regular schedule. Bobble is working on his leash skills and learning not to pull or jump. He can seem growly or excitable in new situations, but once he knows everything is okay, he settles quickly. Because of this, he would do best with a strong, confident adopter who can provide structure and leadership. Bobble is skeptical of new people and will give a quick low growl to let them know they are being put on notice. But given one throw of a toy or treat, Bobble's love can completely be bought and the next thing you know, he is slathering you with love! Ideal Home:     •    A fenced yard where he can play and explore     •    A larger, easygoing dog sibling or an adopter willing to give him all the attention as the only dog     •    No children under 10, as he may be too energetic for young kids     •    A committed owner who will continue his training and exercise routine Bobble has not been tested with cats and it would be best for him to go to a home with dogs only over 25 lbs as he tends to play hard and needs a doggie playmate that can match his energy and size. If you’re looking for an active, fun-loving dog with a big personality, Bobble might be your perfect match! Bobble already has a budding social media star just looking for his social media manager to make that happen for him!  Interested in adopting Bobble? My husband and I took pebbles in as a puppy. She has been potty trained, and is very playful and active. She will need a very active home. We are now separating and our schedules will not allow for us to keep up with her.
