Story
Meet Jax – A Gentle Soul Looking for Love Jax is a sweet senior pup with a heart full of love and a calm, easygoing personality. At over 11 years old, he’s ready to spend his golden years in a home that appreciates his gentle nature and quiet companionship. Why You’ll Love Jax Gentle & Laid Back: Jax is calm and quiet in the home, making him the perfect low-maintenance companion. Dog-Friendly: He gets along well with other laid-back dogs who respect his space. Kid-Friendly: Jax is patient and kind with children. Great Walker: He enjoys leisurely strolls and takes his time exploring. Special Notes About Jax Jax is blind and hard of hearing, but don’t let that fool you—he navigates his surroundings well once he’s familiar with them. Loves slow car rides with the window down—it’s one of his favorite ways to relax! Enjoys chewing on bones and taking long, cozy naps. Very quiet indoors—he’s the definition of a peaceful companion. Jax is looking for a loving home where he can enjoy comfort, companionship, and the simple joys of life. If you have a soft spot for senior dogs and want a loyal friend who will melt your heart, Jax is your guy! We are pleased to announce that Jax’s veterinary coverage is partially by Vintage Fur Senior Dogs Inc! Jax will receive $600 every year in veterinary coverage for the rest of his life. This money may be used to treat conditions and treatments including prescription medication, bloodwork, imaging and more. To learn more about the sponsorship, please contact Guilford County Animal Services or visit https://www.vintagefur.org As always, we strongly recommend bringing any resident dogs to the shelter for a meet and greet with potential new family members to be sure it's a good match. If bringing a dog for a meet and greet, please bring proof of up to date rabies, bordetella, and DHPP vaccines. To learn more about Jax or to get in contact with his foster parent, please text our foster coordinator at 336-937-1867!

Story
Our beautiful Gracie Ann... what can we tell you about her in this short bio? She was found some months back, dumped in a grocery store parking lot. Alone and scared. No idea why she was dumped, no idea what she had done wrong to be deserted. One of our rescue partners called us and we jumped into action! While, we normally cannot take dogs larger than 35#, we couldn't say "no". She needed us! Gracie joined the pack of one of our fabulous fosters and fell into the role of loving life, indoors and warm! When Gracie came to us, we thought she was pregnant. Her stomach was full like she was ready to give birth. We waited. No puppies. She ate a lot.... still no puppies. We took her to the vet and confirmed, not pregnant but was in heat. Her foster mom would be out of town for a few weeks, and we would have her spayed when she returned. Gracie started losing weight rapidly. We rushed her to the vet and found out that she had pyometra. This is life or death! One vet wanted to put her to sleep because the procedure is so costly! For a rescue, $5k is a lot to absorb! We got a second opinion and are so glad that we did! Our vet gave us hope! Gracie had the surgery that afternoon and it was touch and go for a while. She stayed in the hospital for days. Today, she is fully healthy! Her bloodwork is perfect! Gracie is 2 years old.. She is up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative and on prevention. She is spayed and chipped. Gracie is housetrained and can be trusted outside of a crate. She is such a great dog! She will do best in a home with another dog as she LOVES to play, and we do not feel that placing her without a companion is in her best interest. If you have room in your home and your heart for this sweetheart of a girl, please complete the adoption application, below: https://acfrescue.weebly.com/adoption-foster-and-volunteer-applications.html Adoption fee: $100

Story
Leo joined my family through the Cowlitz County Humane Society in Longview, Washington and has been deeply loved ever since. He is just over 5 years old and has grown into an incredibly affectionate, cuddly, loving, and playful dog with a gentle soul. Leo thrives on companionship and connection. He loves being close to his person, whether that’s cuddling on the couch, following you from room to room, or heading out for relaxed walks and time in nature. He has a joyful, playful side but is also very content with calm routines and quality time together. I am looking for a home where Leo can get the consistency and companionship he does best with. Ideally, this would be someone who works from home, is a homebody, or has a lifestyle where he isn’t left alone for long stretches and enjoys spending time outdoors. This decision comes from wanting what is best for Leo. A stable, loving home where he can continue to feel safe, connected, and truly part of the family.
