Story
Columbus is a shelter rescue. He's basically a good dog. He's loving and loyal, and will stick to your side like velcro - a typical Pit. However, he's been difficult to train with basic things like 'lay down', 'sit', 'stay', and getting him to not jump up on people. We have two small grandchildren and elderly parents, one of whom uses a walker, and Columbus's behavior is not safe for them. He also suffers from anxiety/stress which I think is part of the reason why he struggles with obedience. He's currently on medication for the stress as well as for skin allergies. Note, neither of these issues were disclosed by the shelter. He also needs a large fenced yard so that he can run around freely. Our yard is not fenced and my wife and I are both older and not able to take him on walks or runs as often as he probably needs. A perfect situation for Columbus would be a young family with either a fenced-in yard or large property, and older children who can run around with him and wear him out
