Story
Meet Bri – a joyful companion ready for her new home! Bri is a 4-year-old, 54-pound bundle of love who’s eager to find a family to call her own. She may be a little head shy at first—unsure about leashes or hands near her face—but with a gentle voice and a few tasty treats, she quickly warms up and begins to trust. Once she feels comfortable, Bri’s sweet and playful personality shines through. She absolutely loves car rides and gets so excited that she can hardly decide which window to enjoy first! After a bit of exercise and time to settle in, she’s all about belly rubs, kisses, and cuddles. She even starts to seek out affection and is perfectly happy relaxing by your side. Bri is food-motivated and smart—she picks up on commands quickly and already knows how to sit. She walks well on leash with just a little pulling and is clean in her kennel, showing great potential for easy house training. She’s been patiently waiting at the shelter for a month, and she’s more than ready to find a home where she can thrive. With a little love, consistency, and daily exercise, Bri will be the perfect companion—affectionate, joyful, and loyal. Bri is ready to meet you. Come say hello—you might just meet your new best friend. As always, we strongly recommend bringing any resident dogs to the shelter for a meet and greet with potential new family members to be sure it's a good match. If bringing a dog for a meet and greet, please bring proof of up to date rabies, bordetella, and DHPP vaccines. To meet your future pet, come to Guilford County Animal Services between 12 and 4 any day except Tuesday!

Story
Our beautiful Gracie Ann... what can we tell you about her in this short bio? She was found some months back, dumped in a grocery store parking lot. Alone and scared. No idea why she was dumped, no idea what she had done wrong to be deserted. One of our rescue partners called us and we jumped into action! While, we normally cannot take dogs larger than 35#, we couldn't say "no". She needed us! Gracie joined the pack of one of our fabulous fosters and fell into the role of loving life, indoors and warm! When Gracie came to us, we thought she was pregnant. Her stomach was full like she was ready to give birth. We waited. No puppies. She ate a lot.... still no puppies. We took her to the vet and confirmed, not pregnant but was in heat. Her foster mom would be out of town for a few weeks, and we would have her spayed when she returned. Gracie started losing weight rapidly. We rushed her to the vet and found out that she had pyometra. This is life or death! One vet wanted to put her to sleep because the procedure is so costly! For a rescue, $5k is a lot to absorb! We got a second opinion and are so glad that we did! Our vet gave us hope! Gracie had the surgery that afternoon and it was touch and go for a while. She stayed in the hospital for days. Today, she is fully healthy! Her bloodwork is perfect! Gracie is 23 months old. She is up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative and on prevention. She is spayed and chipped. Gracie is housetrained and can be trusted outside of a crate. She is such a great dog! She will do best in a home with another dog as she LOVES to play, and we do not feel that placing her without a companion is in her best interest. If you have room in your home and your heart for this sweetheart of a girl, please complete the adoption application, below: https://acfrescue.weebly.com/adoption-foster-and-volunteer-applications.html

Story
Lucas was adopted in 2020 from South Paw Boxer Rescue. Unfortunately, they are no longer in service. Lucas is 8 years old. He loves to play and rough house. Lucas is house trained. He enjoys the outdoors and needs a fenced in yard. Lucas doesn’t always get along with all dogs and can be headstrong. All in all he’s a good dog. Unfortunately, my situation has changed and I’m no longer able to care for him.
