Story
Leo is an affectionate, loyal boy who loves being close to his people—whether he’s out on a walk or curled up on the couch. He enjoys car rides, chasing a ball, and soaking up the sun, but is just as happy relaxing at home. Leo is fully potty trained, knows basic commands, and is very treat motivated, making training both fun and rewarding. He’s currently working on his leash manners and improving every day.Leo would do best in a home that can give him time, patience, and love. A home without smaller animals would be best for him. He has done well with other dogs when introduced slowly and respectfully, and has been around small children, doing well when they respect his boundaries and space. While he would love a fenced yard, he has done well in an apartment and enjoys getting outside for his regular walks. One of Leo’s most unique features is his beautiful blue eye, a result of a past injury that has fully healed and doesn’t affect him—it just adds to his charm. Leo is a special dog ready to find a loving home to call his own.

Story
Meet Queen, a charming and sassy sidekick who`s equal parts snuggle bug, road trip companion, and toy-loving goofball. She’s all about her people and would happily follow you from room to room, or better yet, hop in the car for your next adventure. Queen is a professional passenger—calm, happy, and convinced that every ride needs her royal presence. She`s also potty trained, crate aware (though she’ll politely bark when she’s ready to come out), and great on leash with just a little pulling when she`s excited. Queen recently took on a 7-mile hike at Eno River State Park and absolutely crushed it. Suspension bridges? No problem. Crowds of school kids? Handled like a pro. She navigated everything with confidence and grace—earning some laughs and a few “Scooby-Doo” comments along the way. At home, Queen is a toy and treat-motivated gal who loves to chew on bones and play with her stash of goodies throughout the day. She gets along well with the calm senior dog in her foster home and minds her business like the classy lady she is. She`s also great with kids, though she prefers to enjoy her meals and bones without interruptionWhile Queen has some minor mobility quirks—likely due to a hip or leg issue—she doesn’t let it slow her down much. She handles steps with care and is happiest on flat ground where she can stay close to you. In the backyard, she’ll stick right by your side and comes when called. Queen is a sweet, spunky, and loyal dog who’s looking for a home where she can be part of the action, soak up affection, and chew to her heart’s content. If you’re searching for a loving, adventurous companion with a big personality and an even bigger heart, Queen just might be your match!

Story
Insights from my adventure buddies and foster friends:`Gladys is very sweet and friendly. She loves pets and scratches. On our walk. she loves looking at squirrels and sniffing plants. She is very gentle with treats.`We picked up Gladys for a few night sleepover this morning and already it`s clear she is a gem! I rode in the back seat with her home and after a few minutes she had settled in and given me a belly to rub. Once at home, she was interested in her surroundings but didn`t jump on any counters or even get the zoomies that sometimes come with being overly excited. She`s definitely interested in treats and takes them very gently, but she doesn`t beg and while we ate a meal she slept nearby. We took a short walk, and while she pulls a bit if she`s excited, for the most part she walked nicely. Gladys sits without being asked when you put her leash on. She ignored both our neighbor`s dog that barked at her and one at the pet store. She hasn`t gotten into anything she shouldn`t like shoes. Gladys is very sweet and gentle and would be a great pup in a forever home.``Gladys continues to be a sweet guest. She very much enjoys being outside, whether it`s a walk or time on the porch, even if just for a few minutes in this heat. She also enjoys car rides. She is happy to match your pace and relaxing when we are not out and about.``Gladys continues to be a great dog. This morning we went for a nice walk before it got hot, and she greeted a neighbor by walking right up to be pet. She will pull some when she sees another dog, but we`ve not seen any signs of aggression - it`s more that she might want to say hello. She loves being outside and going for car rides. On our last car ride, she did just fine when one of us got out of the car and didn`t jump about at all; we ended up riding home with her in the back seat on her own and she did great (vs other dogs we`ve had who tried to come drive). Today I had to work all day, so she simply curled up on a bed next to my desk and took a nap until it was time to take a break outside. I love how she matches your speed. Want to go for a 3 mile walk? She`s in. Want to watch soccer all day on the couch? She`s in.``Gladys has had a couple of new experiences (at least with us) in the last few days and done well.First, we left her alone for 30-40 minutes each of two days. We came home to find that she had been curled up on a permitted couch, and full of wiggles and chirps when we returned. She settled

Story
I arrived at the shelter as a stray, so my history is mostly a mystery. I`m sweet and I`m excited to find a loving home where I can live my best life and shower people with love. I`m a stylishly senior pet and therefore my adoption fee has been reduced. If you are 65 and older and interested in adopting me, ask staff about our Senior Squared deal! Go to this page for more information about available pets, adopting, visiting our facility, and contacting our adoption desk.Insights from my adventure buddies and foster friends:`Miss Daisy Mae spent the weekend with me, and she was a great houseguest. More than anything, she seemed happy for the chance to simply rest. After the hustle and bustle of the shelter, she soaked up the quiet, enjoying long, uninterrupted naps and the comfort of a soft place to land. At one point, she even hopped up into a comfy chair and settled in for a while, looking completely content. Daisy Mae is smart, loves to know what her people are up to, and will happily follow you from room to room just to be part of the day. She loved roaming the yard, but every so often she would stop, turn around, and make sure I was still in sight before continuing on. She loves coming up for a gentle nuzzle and a little extra love, and those quiet moments of affection quickly became some of my favorites. She is a sweet older pup who deserves to spend her golden years having adventures with her family, soaking up all the love she can, and finally knowing what it feels like to be home.My favorite thing about her? She has these adorable spurts of happy energy where she wants to jump and run a bit with you by her side!``Daisy Mae had a sleepover at our house. She`s a nice dog with a quiet but alert demeanor. It seems like she`s most content just spending time around people. Despite being a senior dog, Daisy Mae is still pretty spry. She enjoys going on walks, which are slow but steady, and she`s got good stamina. She gets most animated at mealtime - she eats well. Although Daisy Mae likes company she did not mind sleeping downstairs by herself, and we didn`t hear a peep all night. Handling was mostly fine, Daisy Mae especially enjoyed being brushed with a Furminator, although she did not allow me to clean her paws after she came inside from the backyard. Overall, Daisy Mae seems prett

Story
Meet Sweet Mama Moosh! For years, Sweet Mama Moosh has known what it means to survive—but not what it feels like to truly belong. This beautiful 4-5 year old girl spent her life on the streets, where neighbors watched her lovingly raise at least two litters of puppies. While she made sure her babies were safe, no one was there to make sure she was. She endured hunger, uncertainty, and even an injured paw, yet somehow never lost her gentle, loving heart. When we trapped her, the plan was simply to spay her and return her to the streets. But after spending time with her, we knew we couldn't do it. Sweet Mama Moosh is far too affectionate, trusting, and deserving of love to spend another day wondering where she'll sleep or if she'll have enough to eat. She has fought to survive long enough. Now it's her turn to be cared for. Today, her paw has completely healed, and she has blossomed into a happy, healthy, beautiful girl who is finally ready for the life she's always deserved. She is currently being fostered in Puerto Rico and is now spayed, vaccinated, up to date on preventatives, potty trained and crate trained! Such an amazing girl!! She adores gentle pets, leisurely walks, and never says no to a tasty snack. 🥹 She has lived alongside other dogs on the streets. While she'll politely correct a dog that gets too pushy, she has otherwise done well around other dogs. Right now, Sweet Mama Moosh needs someone willing to open their heart and home—whether that's through fostering, foster-to-adopt, or giving her the forever family she's never had. If you've ever thought about changing a dog's life, this is your chance. Sweet Mama Moosh has spent years giving everything she had to survive and to care for others. Now she's simply asking for someone to choose her. Please help us give this sweet girl the ending she's waited her whole life for. ❤️

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Please click on Celeste’s photo to read all about her.Celeste is a total love, she adores her humans and aims to please.  She loves to wrestle with her canine pals, and would adore another dog in the home to play with.  Her favorite activity is to go on walks and hikes, so she definitely requires an active home that will supply regular exercise.  Her second favorite activity is fetch, so sessions of retrieving between exploration sessions is a winning combo for her in life.  But don't worry, one this girl has an outing- she's all about the cuddle sessions too- fair warning- she's a total couch and bed hog...  She would love another dog in her forever home- she is a wonderful buddy to dogs- both big and small.   Celeste would do best in a home where her humans are not gone for long hours.  She does require a fenced in yard (physical fencing, no invisible fences please).  All humans in the home should be 6 years of age, or older.  She has been spayed and microchipped, and is current on preventatives and vaccines.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.July 17, 2026, 11:06 am
