Story
Meet Angelica! Angelica is a darling pup weighing about 33 pounds. At about 11 months old, she’s past the “young puppy phase” but still young and playful. While we can't be 100% sure, at her age, she probably won't get too much bigger. Angelica is wonderfully affectionate and people-oriented — she loves being close to her humans and loves playing with other dogs. She tends be more submissive and good natured, making her a great doggy playmate!  Angelica does really well with both DOGS and CATS, so she would be a great fit for a multi-pet home. Angelica is playful, smart, and eager to learn. She does well crated at night, settling in quickly without too much fuss. She has mastered the doggie door at her foster home and lets her people know when it’s time to go potty. As a young dog, she’ll continue to do best with a consistent routine, and she’s already proving how quick and willing she is to learn. She also walks beautifully on a leash and loves car rides. If you’re looking for a loving companion who enjoys adventure, playtime, and cuddles, Angelica may be your perfect match. ******Please note, once completing the initial screen you will be connected with the placement for a video chat. Transports run every few weeks and we will have the dog on the next available transport once approved. If you are not able to accept a dog until a specific time period, please apply at that time************ We are a volunteer run rescue and donate our time to these dogs. IF you are not serious about moving forward in our adoption process, please do not apply. If someone other than yourself is part of the decision making process, please make sure you have spoken with them and they are on board. We really do not want to waste anyone's time if you are not serious about adopting this dog. Teeka, a 1 year 7 month old spayed female, Boxer mix, 42lbs. She is in a foster home in Houston, TX and can transport out of state once an approved adopter is lined up! The amazing Teeka is on the hunt for her forever home. She specializes in best friending with an emphasis on playing! She currently lives with several larger dogs and is learning to respect their boundaries. She LOVES to play with them, but does need some help realizing when her foster siblings are ready to stop. She has not met any cats, so we’re not sure how she’d react to a feline sibling. Her foster mom says she’s done well meeting new human friends and is learning not to jump on them. Because of this and her high energy levels, we do recommend a home with older dog savvy kids. This smartie is house and crate trained! She sleeps quietly in her crate and is kenneled whenever her foster family is out of the house. We don’t recommend leaving her out unsupervised as she may help herself to whatever she finds in the kitchen. Teeka’s love for food is next level and she will try to sneak a bite from you or the other dog’s bowls, but has shown no signs of resource guarding. She is still working on her leash manners, but is getting better every day! She gets a little too excited when she sees other dogs, but is learning to calm down and continue on her walk. This happy girl absolutely loves toys! She knows where the toy basket is and will get one so you can join in the fun. She’s a huge fan of fetch and tug of war! Teeka is learning the joys of relaxing too. She loves to lay on your legs and get some pets and give some kisses. She’s happy just to be near her humans. Teeka is a young pup with boundless energy that will thrive in a home with a yard, daily exercise, training and patience. She’s a goofy, happy, loving girl and with just one look into those pretty doe eyes, your heart will melt! ***Listed BREED and AGE - We are taking our best guess & recommendations from our veterinarian on age, breed and size when fully grown. We rarely know a dog's exact age nor are we able to tell the true or full breed mix of dogs as our information is limited most of the time. *** Interested in applying to adopt her? Story
Chewy (short for Chewbacca) is an almost 1 year old male dog. He has a soft brindle coat and looks like a Boxer. he weighs 38 pounds. Chewy was loved by his family but the owner's health issues made them realize they could not care for him anymore. He gets along with other dogs and children. He has lived indoors and is housetrained. Chewy has a typical Boxer's high energy. He grabs at things with his paws looking like he is boxing. Chewy would benefit from basic obedience training to give him an outlet for his energy. He is looking for an active person or family that loves to run and play as much as he does. He is up to date on vaccines, has tested negative for heartworm disease and his adoption fee includes a voucher for the mandatory neuter.

Story
Our beautiful Gracie Ann... what can we tell you about her in this short bio? She was found some months back, dumped in a grocery store parking lot. Alone and scared. No idea why she was dumped, no idea what she had done wrong to be deserted. One of our rescue partners called us and we jumped into action! While, we normally cannot take dogs larger than 35#, we couldn't say "no". She needed us! Gracie joined the pack of one of our fabulous fosters and fell into the role of loving life, indoors and warm! When Gracie came to us, we thought she was pregnant. Her stomach was full like she was ready to give birth. We waited. No puppies. She ate a lot.... still no puppies. We took her to the vet and confirmed, not pregnant but was in heat. Her foster mom would be out of town for a few weeks, and we would have her spayed when she returned. Gracie started losing weight rapidly. We rushed her to the vet and found out that she had pyometra. This is life or death! One vet wanted to put her to sleep because the procedure is so costly! For a rescue, $5k is a lot to absorb! We got a second opinion and are so glad that we did! Our vet gave us hope! Gracie had the surgery that afternoon and it was touch and go for a while. She stayed in the hospital for days. Today, she is fully healthy! Her bloodwork is perfect! Gracie is 2 years old.. She is up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative and on prevention. She is spayed and chipped. Gracie is housetrained and can be trusted outside of a crate. She is such a great dog! She will do best in a home with another dog as she LOVES to play, and we do not feel that placing her without a companion is in her best interest. If you have room in your home and your heart for this sweetheart of a girl, please complete the adoption application, below: https://acfrescue.weebly.com/adoption-foster-and-volunteer-applications.html Adoption fee: $100

Story
Welcome Gunner to the FHL Family! Gunner was found on Kennedy Road in Thomasville off of 109 and is a 50-pound Pit mix. He jumped into his foster's truck like he was meant to be in it. He's super friendly, loves to sunbathe, chew on his rope, and is a big fan of treats. Gunner loves to cuddle and sit in your lap. He is quiet in the car, and doesn't bark too much, unless his foster dad gets on the lawn mower. Gunner is neutered, housetrained, kennel trained, and does well with other dogs. So far, he doesn't seem to be a big fan of cats. He is heartworm positive and has started on his treatment, in which our rescue will be paying for until he is negative. If you are interested in adopting Gunner, please send us an email address to obtain an Adoption Application.
