Ahem… clears throat… taps microphone… H-hi everyone. Um. My name is Garth. (Please don’t look at me all at once.) I came in as a stray on 12/11/25, and they think I’m about 5 years old. I’m… uh… a handsome guy, apparently. I didn’t smile for the camera today because—well—this is all a lot. Crowds are scary. Cameras are scary. The shelter is scary. 😟 I’m very shy and I tend to stand close to you because you make me feel safe. I kind of look to my person for protection, like, “Is this okay? Are we good?” My eyes might look sad right now, but that’s just because I haven’t found my place yet. I’m hoping—very quietly—that someone kind will see me, take me home, and help me learn that the world isn’t so scary after all. I promise I’m worth it… I just need a little patience and a lot of love. Okay. Um. Thank you for listening. I’ll be available for adoption now. Meet this incredible survivor! Found in Tipton County, this sweet boy was skin and bones, hairless, and overlooked by so many. We couldn’t leave him behind, and he’s come so far—from 17 to 36 lbs! With love, warmth, and plenty of food, his personality has blossomed. He adores other dogs, all people, his crate, and especially toys and sweaters. He’s house-trained, food-motivated, and ready for his forever home. Could it be with you? Once adopted he will travel via the Rescue Transport to his new family. They travel every weekend from Memphis, Tennessee to the north east, delivering pups along the way as far north as West Greenwich, Rhode Island. Transport is an additional $185. Meet Garver - a playful, quiet boy ready for his forever home. Garver has been a wonderful companion from the moment he came into his foster’s home. He pairs the yin with the yang– playful and curious with quiet observation and companionship. He was listed as 9 years old while he was at the Knox Co Dog Shelter. Garver is mostly white with a red-brindle face, one brown eye and one blue eye. He is also polydactyl, meaning he has an extra digit on both back feet! Garver is inquisitive and likes to be where the action is happening. He plays the role of the careful observer and only steps in when he thinks it’s safe. His medium energy level makes him able to engage with you or play alone with toys and also content to receive affection snuggled by your side or lie in his bed while you work. He enjoys being outside and will spend time exploring his yard, quietly checking on the neighbor’s activities. He is a trusting soul who enjoys meeting new people and dogs, both male and female. His biggest desire is to play with them and he would do well in a house with another dog playmate. He has not been tested with cats. Garver enjoys car-rides, pup-cups, walks and checking out the local dog-friendly store. He’s also great at home and can be left uncrated while you are away. He is food and treat-motivated and takes direction well. He knows sit and is working on stay, making him fun to train and a great match for someone who enjoys building a bond through gentle guidance. He has not shown food aggression around other dogs. Come meet Garver and add this sweet boy to your pack.
