Nora came to us from my son's friend's family who had rescued her from a swap meet. They already had three dogs and Nora, being a younger dog, was too much for them to handle. We took her in, got her up to date on shots, spayed and microchipped. She is great with our other dog, cat and children as young as 5. She's a quick learner and can walk on a leash well even though my guess is that she'd never been on one until we got her. The vet estimates she's about 2 years old. She's house-trained but can also be a submissive pee-er around new people. She's the sweetest girl but her presence was not welcomed by all human members of the family and she's causing strife. We need to find her a new home where she can be loved and spoiled like she deserves.

Story
Having to find a new home for my dog Bruce and want to do right by him, not just post and hope. Bruce is 7, about 108 lbs, and about as gentle as a dog his size can be. He's amazing with people, including kids, and has never once shown aggression toward a person. He's calm, affectionate, and settled, basically a big lap dog who doesn't know he's big. The one thing to know: Bruce does not get along with another dog in the home and will stand up for himself if pushed. He'd do best as the only dog in the household, or with an experienced owner who can manage a careful introduction if there's already a dog in the house. He needs a fenced yard and a confident handler on leash given his size. I'm doing a meet-and-greet before any placement and would love updates once he's settled. Happy to answer questions about his history and routine. Bruce deserves a soft landing, and I want to make sure it's the right one.

🥰 This beautiful girl is Cocoa. Cocoa is 6 years old and has a pure velvet coat. She is very smart and PERFECTLY house trained. She has not had any accidents, has no desire to get on furniture, she is curious, but not at all destructive.  🧸 She is also a very gentle dog that loves her toys, but does not destroy them. She can “sit” and give you her paw like a champ. Cocoa would love an active family that would take her for car rides, hikes and runs. She is an athletic girl that excels at ZOOMIES and TWIRLS.  Cocoa needs some leash work and would need slow introductions to new dogs. 🙏Please consider fostering or fostering to adopt Cocoa so she can continue her great progress! Apply to meet Cocoa at ricopetrecovery.org

🩷Meet Ophelia🩷Ophelia found herself in a county shelter that does not keep puppies for long. On top of that, Ophelia had a limp and was intermittently using one of her back legs. Once in our care, Ophelia’s limp was evaluated by our vet and in addition to be abandoned, she also had broken femur that healed before we were able to help. This special girl will always have a special little limp.  Ophelia is a world-class snuggler and would love a home with lots of empty laps, loving sibling dogs and soft cuddly blankets. She has experienced how living on cold cement floors behind bars feels and never wants to go back.  Ophelia is good with other dogs, kids and cats.Ophelia will most likely be on the smaller side.  Apply to meet her at ricopetrecovery.org.  Adoption fee is $350 and includes first 2 sets of vaccines, spay and microhip at our partner veterinarian when she is old enough to be spayed at our partner veterinarian. The adopter is responsible for the third and fourth boosters at their own veterinarian.

Once adopted, our pets can be transported to Denver, Colorado, the Midwest and all of the north eastern states. 4. We have a Facebook page and an Instagram page. Are you looking for a loyal and sweet companion? Izzy is the girl for you! Izzy is a sweet girl who will let any person pet her. She seems very good with children. She was a little uneasy, but good, at the vet. She gets a bit distressed when crated.Izzy birth date is listed as 12-17-2021 and she is a spayed female. She had a rough start but then she was rescued by GU. GU took her all over in his truck and fattened her up by feeding her people food. GU passed away in 6-2025. LO took ownership. LO loved Izzy but moved 5 times in a year, and was too busy to take Izzy out like she needs. Izzy lost a lot of weight. I offered to foster her to give her regular food, potty time, and companionship.I believe Izzy was not socialized with other dogs as a puppy. She is reactive to other animals. She whines and pulls toward them but then acts aggressively. It looks like fear to me and I am going to try to see if some training will help. For now, she needs a home where she is the only pet.
