Story
Gypsy is located in TEXAS. There are not enough homes for all the unwanted dogs down there, so she is willing to relocate for a good, loving, forever home. Gypsy is a very good girl and is the most obedient dog I have ever seen. She knows how to sit and comes when called. She is housetrained and very well behaved in the house. She likes her crate and sleeps in it with the door open. She walks well on a leash and rides well in a vehicle. Gypsy loves her toys, especially squeaky ones, and she loves playing fetch. Gypsy is active - she loves to run and play with toys and other dogs. She loves water and lays in the wading pool when it is hot, and we bet she would love snow. She gets excited about squirrels, cats, and critters on the other side of the fence. Gypsy does well with all dogs but gets along best with male dogs. She is normally good around small dogs but occasionally mistakes one for a toy when she is over-excited. So she is not recommended for homes with small dogs. She is not too fond of puppies getting in her face either. Gypsy loves human attention and is good with children. She could perhaps use more obedience training with someone firm, patient, and loving. Gypsy is very sweet. She gets attached to her human and likes to lay under my desk when I work on the computer. Gypsy walks well on a leash and rides well in the car. She must be in the house as a loved family member, and she needs a yard with a 6' fence to run and play. Gypsy came from a bad home. She was not being fed and was severely underweight. So the people surrendered Gypsy and her puppies to animal control to avoid animal cruelty charges. Gypsys DNA test results are mostly Boxer, Husky, and German Shepherd. She bounces on her front legs when she is excited and we now know that comes from the Boxer in her. Gypsy is around 5 years of age and weighs 70 pounds (she only weighed 35 pounds when we got her). Gypsy is healthy. She is spayed, tattooed, fully vaccinated (DAPPvL2, Bordatella, rabies), and microchipped. Gypsy had a light case of heartworms when we first got her. We used the slow-kill method (we are happy to explain this) and she is now negative for heartworms and on monthly heartworm and flea prevention. Gypsy's adoption fee includes the cost of ground transport to Columbus, Cincinnati, or Akron Ohio. She is located in Texas and cannot be transported until after she is adopted. Story
Connie is quite the underdog. Living chained to a trailer and sleeping in deep mud, Connie produced litter after litter of puppies while never receiving any vet care whatsoever. The family finally agreed to surrender her and her only surviving pup (who was living in a small crate outdoors, and has now been adopted).Connie came to us emaciated and positive for several internal parasites, including heartworm and tick diseases. After several months of vet care, Connie is now heartworm free!!!Everyone at the vet loves Connie and her happy personality. Connie is good with other dogs but often intimidates dogs with her strong personality until they get to know her.Connie is approximately 45 pounds. She does have 'weak knees' which cause her to walk with stiff back legs on occasion. This is managed with oral medication as needed for pain. In general, Connie gets around really well and loves going on leash walks.Connie has been on restricted exercise while going through her heartworm treatment and can't wait to run and play again!Apply for Connie at ricopetrecovery.org Her adoption fee is $250.

Story
Bixby is a sweet dog that I adopted from a shelter several years ago. He is approximately 5 years old and around 65 lbs. I am not able to care for Bixby and exercise him the way he needs on walks. His main behavior issue is pulling on walks and lunging- although he is generally friendly with other dogs. I don't have the right home for a large dog and physically can not handle him. I’m looking to rehome asap.

Story
Trixx came from a rural shelter with little chance of finding a home. She is a young girl with lots of love to give. She likes to go on walks, loves her chew toys, is housebroken and crate trained. She is 1 year old and full grown at 35 pounds. She is in foster with cats and when they swat her she knows to leave them alone. She likes to play with the big dogs but plays a bit too rough for smaller dogs or timid cats. If you are interested in adopting me, please fill out an online adoption application at https://colonycats.org/adoption_app.html to expedite the process.  Due to the large number of inquiries we receive, we are unable to respond to emails quickly.    April 23, 2024, 9:20 pm

Story
Meet Lana! Gender: Female Age: 12 years Current Weight: 75lbs Expected Adult Size: Large (50-100 lbs) Breed: Pit Bull Energy Level: Low Dog Friendly: Dog selective.  A more submissive dog would be best. Cat Friendly: No Kid Friendly: No Apartment Friendly: No Physical Fence Requirement: Physical fence required, any height Crate Trained: Yes Potty Trained: Yes Ideal Home/Adopter: Miss Lana is the the sweetest old lady who loves to be right in your lap at all times. She doesn't like to be crated, but does tolerate it for short periods of time. Her ideal house is a quiet, lazy house that will let her catch all the suns, give her all the treats and a comfy couch sleep on while she lives out her golden years. Likes: She loves to sunbathe, play dress up in her sweaters (because she is always cold), snuggling on the couch, and getting all the snacks. She loves to give kisses and likes her paw held when she's nervous. Short walks are best for Miss Lana since she's had a few knee surgeries in the past. She loves to paint, do puzzles and other enrichments with her friends at Camp Bow Wow! Dislikes: She has anxiety with new things and takes a while to acclimate. She doesn't like to be alone, she isn't a fan of men, and doesn't see very well, which can cause her to be jumpy sometimes.  Additional Considerations: She is potty trained but has had a long history of UTI infections that have left her a little leaky at night, so she wears diapers in case she has an accident while sleeping. She is muzzled on walks not because of the risk of her biting, but because she believes she has a stomach made of steel and can process sticks, grass, or other neighborhood "treasures". She is a fighter and we were able to have her mass cell tumors removed when she joined our rescue. What makes this dog special: Lana has quite a story! This is the goofiest old lady you will ever meet! She has some special needs, but that just makes the love she gives so special! She will melt your heart every time she looks at you. She loves to be tucked in to her blankets and a goodnight kiss on her head before bed. She has daily meds that she takes gently from your hand for her old lady anxiety and pain. She is an amazing girl who has so much love left to share with this world! Lana's adoption fee is $195 (or $65 if you are 65+). All fees include spay/neuter, microchip, vaccinations, worming, flea and heartworm current. All dogs over 6 months of age have been tested and are heartworm negative. If you are interested in adopting Lana, apply at rescuedohio.org to become an approved adopter and a meet & greet can be set up once approved. ##1149955##

Story
Meet Phoebe! If you're into snuggly pitties with giant heads, it doesn’t get much better than this. Phoebe has the largest head-to-body ratio we've ever seen. It's a real melon. She uses that velvet bowling ball to snuggle up close and give you kisses just for hanging out. In her perfect world, she spends 50% of her day cuddling and 50% sprawled out in the sun. She absolutely loves sunbathing on the rocks, in the grass, on a raised bed... anywhere, really. Phoebe is very mellow 3 year old pup. While she enjoys a walk or running around the back yard for a bit, she's not a dog that will require a lot of exercise. She has some mild hip dysplasia that she takes medication for, so if you're looking for a young but lazy dog, she's perfect! Her foster family alternates between short walks and back yard play to make sure she’s getting enough exercise without overdoing it. For this reason, and due to her dog reactivity, Phoebe requires a home with a privacy fence so she can lounge around in peace (miraculously, her stout body can succesfully jump a chain link fence). Phoebe has made it clear that she doesn’t want to share the spotlight with other dogs, so she will need an owner that is comfortable owning and managing a dog that is reactive to other dogs. She really wants to play with the pups on the other side of the privacy fence, and we think she's probably capable of having a few trusted pups that she could have playdates with, but she acts like a real nutjob when she initally sees dogs (on walks, at the vet, on car rides, etc.). And because she would chase a squirrel to Mexico, we have a feeling cats would be a bad idea, though we haven’t tested it. Phoebe is wonderful with new humans, including guests in the home, but she is clumsy and sturdy and a bit too rough for a home with kids. And really, she just wants to be your baby. Phoebe is a bit smaller than she looks in photos, but still weighs about 65lbs. She does well for baths, is potty trained, and she's wonderful in the crate. She will sleep in her crate through the night or while you’re away with no issues, but won't turn down the opportunity to sleep in your bed either. She does the cutest little grumble/howl when you come home or when she's ready to play. She's a smart, sensitive girl who feeds off of your energy and generally knows when it's time to play vs. time to settle down.  Phoebe has a very sweet disposition and becomes everyone's best pal. To meet her is to love her. While she may seem a little difficult on paper, she will be the most amazing addition to a laid back household that just wants a snuggle buddy. Approved applicants can email us directly to arrange a meet & greet, or you can apply to adopt at RESCUEDohio.org. ##1189045##

Story
Name: Mikey Gender: Male Age: 1 year Current Weight: 45 lbs Expected Adult Size: Medium (25-50 lbs) Breed: Itty Bitty Pittie Mix Energy Level: Medium Dog Friendly: Yes, and requires another dog in the home. Cat Friendly: Yes Kid Friendly: Yes to kids (12 years old or older preferred) Apartment Friendly: Yes Physical Fence Requirement: Physical fence preferred but not required with regular walks/exercise Crate Trained: Yes for short periods of time Potty Trained: Not fully potty trained, working on it Ideal Home/Adopter: A house with another dog that likes to play, and an owner who likes to play and cuddle. Mikey is a social guy and wants to hang with you and your fur-babies.  He needs to get his energy out and play, he is a young pup after all. A playmate is ideal for this guy.  Likes: Walks, tug of war, playing with stuffed animals, cuddling with other dogs or people. If you lift up a blanket and make room for him, he will jump right in and snuggle up! Dislikes: Some separation anxiety but having another dog helps Mikey feel calm and this is something that can be worked on/resolved. He is already showing progress in his foster home.  Additional Considerations: He is timid of new people at the start but once he opens up, he will be your best friend. What makes this dog special: Mikey loves to snuggle up, whenever his foster parents pull up the dog cameras he is almost always snuggled up with his foster brothers. Whenever the fam is watching TV he loves to rest his head on you and give you the cutest puppy eyes. Mikey is very smart and is eager to learn. He has figured out how to solve so many puzzles. We are impressed with his puppy brilliance. From a variety of food toys, or how to sneak a toy that was set aside, and how to open up a baby gate and sneak into bed for some midnight cuddles. This guy is ready to solve all of these mysteries.  Mikey's adoption fee is $350. All fees include spay/neuter, microchip, vaccinations, worming, flea and heartworm current. All dogs over 6 months of age have been tested and are heartworm negative. If you are interested in Mikey, apply at rescuedohio.org to become an approved adopter and a meet & greet can be set up once approved. ##1871330##
