Story
Meet Petunia, the 3 year old Bull Terrier/Cane Corso mix whose infectious happiness lights up every room. This spirited canine is looking for her forever home and is overjoyed to be surrounded by her loving foster family. Petunia's perpetual joy is most evident when she sees her family, her tail wagging with boundless enthusiasm. One remarkable aspect of Petunia's story is her remarkable compatibility with other dogs. She effortlessly forges friendships with fellow canines, creating a harmonious atmosphere wherever she goes. Not just limited to her furry companions, Petunia is a natural around children of all ages, displaying a gentle and playful demeanor that makes her an ideal family pet. Despite a challenging start in life, Petunia's indomitable spirit shines through. Discovered in a field as a stray, she bore the scars of past hardships - two dislocated hips and a shattered left back ankle. Remarkably, these injuries had already healed, and Petunia now navigates her world with grace. Although surgery is deemed too risky, her resilience allows her to walk and even run, proving that love and care can overcome adversity. Beyond her physical strength, Petunia is a model of good behavior. House trained and affectionate, she revels in pets, cuddles, and the pure bliss of tummy rubs. Petunia's journey from a field to a loving home is a testament to her resilience, and she serves as an inspiration to all who cross her path. She is house trained, microchipped, fully vaccinated, & spayed. She is being fostered in Seguin, TX and is ready for her new home. To see more pictures and videos, copy and paste this link. Story
Itzy Bitzy — Foster Dog extraordinaire!! Itzy Bitzy is a very sweet, loving Bull Terrier who absolutely adores her humans. She is generally a very quiet, well-mannered girl, although recently she has found her bark and has started using it a bit more than before. She is not reliably house or kennel trained, as she does not signal when she needs to go outside. While she does know how to use a doggy door, she will still have accidents in the home. It also appears she may have been previously trained to use puppy pads, as she often seeks out soft surfaces such as towels, blankets, and dog beds to urinate on. Because of this, she will need continued guidance and supervision in a home environment. Itzy is very food motivated and has mastered the art of sitting politely for snacks. In fact, if you have food in your hand, she may decide to sit before you even ask! She loves attention and is playful when you engage with her, but she isn’t overly energetic or demanding. She does best as the only dog in the home. Itzy is dog-selective and can become extremely reactive around other dogs, so a home without other pets would be the safest and happiest environment for her. Aside from her occasional new interest in barking, she is still generally a quiet girl in the home. Itzy does have some eye conditions that will likely require lifelong medication, but she doesn’t let that stop her from being her sweet, playful self. She would make a wonderful companion for someone looking for a loving, affectionate dog who enjoys being close to her people and appreciates a good snack! Best fit: A loving, patient home where Itzy can be the only dog, receive consistent potty training support, and get all the attention—and all the treats—she deserves. ❤️ Local adoption fee is $300 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $550(includes transport to your area)

Story
Hi! I’m Kylie, your future best friend and professional heart-stealer. I’m a classic Old English Bulldog girl—full of personality, a little goofy, and always ready to make you smile. I’ve got the important stuff down: I’m house trained, potty trained, and kennel trained (pretty impressive, right?). I love my routine, especially when it includes food—mealtime is basically my favorite event of the day! Treats? Don’t even get me started… I get SO excited. I’m happiest just being near my person. Whether you’re working, relaxing on the couch, or doing your thing around the house, I’ll be right there—either watching you with my sweet little face, chewing on my favorite bone, or getting cozy with my bed or pillow (I might even carry it around so I’m comfy wherever I go!). When I’m happy (which is often), my whole body gets involved—especially my wiggly little butt. It’s kind of my signature move. I’m not much of a barker, and I do really well with people. I prefer slow introductions with smaller, calm dogs, but honestly, I’d be totally content being your one and only. I really shine in a home where I can soak up all your love. If you’re looking for a loyal companion who will make you laugh, melt your heart with one look, and always be by your side—I’m your girl. **This Saturday 9/5 and Sunday 9/6 we are waiving the adoption fee for this animal as part of #TheRescueEffect, thanks top our collaboration with the ASPCA, because when we work together we save more lives.**Canela is a sweet and gentle senior Bull Terrier mix who is ready to enjoy her well-earned retirement. At 74 pounds, she’s a sturdy girl with an even sturdier heart, having previously lived happily with children and other dogs. Canela loves her daily walks but is also a professional couch surfer who’s always down for a cozy snuggle session. As she enters her golden years, she’s looking for a calm, loving home where she can continue being the affectionate, easygoing companion she’s always been. Let Canela bring warmth, loyalty, and a touch of sunshine to her next family. Canela has an extremely high prey drive and needs a feline and small free home.

Rocco has come a long way in the time that he has been at the shelter. He is getting more used to being out on walks with new people. He loves to go out on a run and then wrestle with you! He will also keep your yard free of squirrels and birds etc. He also really loves chilling in the yard and getting snuggles.Rocco has been selective about other dogs. Hay Dude Equine Rescue is a foster-based rescue in Texas. All of our dogs live in foster homes in TX and are transported to their new states once adopted. All adopters must be 21+. Applications can be found at haydudeequine.org. 🐾 Hi, I’m Byrdie! ❤️ I’m Byrdie, a 2-year-old brindle Staffy/Boxer mix, and I have a very important announcement to make: **I am a lover, NOT a fighter!** 🥰 I’m a gorgeous girl with a beautiful brindle coat, but my favorite thing about myself is my heart. I’m super sweet, silly, and absolutely love my people. I can be a little shy when we first meet, but give me a minute and I’ll warm right up. Once I decide you’re my friend, prepare yourself for lots of love! I also really like other dogs and am great with my canine friends. I’m even good with horses, which is pretty impressive if I do say so myself! 🐴 Now, let’s talk about my hobbies. **I LOVE THE WATER!** 💦 And I REALLY, REALLY LOVE CAR RIDES! 🚗💨 Seriously, if you say the words “go for a ride,” I will be ready before you are. I’m pretty sure every car ride is an adventure waiting to happen. My rescue friends found me in the middle of a highway late one night, right in front of the rescue’s gate. I have no idea how I got there or where I came from, but apparently I knew exactly where I needed to be. ❤️ Now I’m hoping my next stop is **my forever home**. I’m looking for someone who wants a sweet, silly, affectionate girl to join them for adventures, car rides, water fun, and plenty of loving. I promise to be your best friend and make you laugh every single day. **I’m Byrdie—and I’m ready to fly straight into your heart.** 🐦❤️

Story
Please note that this dog is currently located in TX and will be transported once adopted. Our application can be found at haydudeequine.org. Meet Duke! There's a new star in town, and this one has four legs! Meet Duke, a handsome 10-month-old, 45-pound Bulldog/Staffordshire Terrier mix (our best guess) who is ready to find his forever family. Duke is a happy, playful, people-loving pup who thinks everyone he meets is a potential best friend. He's wonderful with other dogs and loves having a canine buddy to play with. His favorite game? FETCH! He'll happily chase a toy, bring it back, and do it all over again. And if there's water involved? Even better! Duke absolutely loves the water, so a family who enjoys outdoor adventures, swimming, or just watching a goofy dog have the time of his life would be right up his alley. At 10 months old, Duke still has plenty of puppy fun in him, but he's also incredibly sweet and eager to be part of a family. He's looking for a home where he can get plenty of love, playtime, and adventures—and maybe a comfy couch for those post-fetch naps. If you're looking for a fun-loving, water-loving, dog-friendly goofball to add some excitement (and a whole lot of love) to your life, Duke might just be your guy! Apply to adopt Duke at haydudeequine.org!

Story
Animal Profile:  Penny is a 2 1/2 year old, 65 lb spayed female English Bulldog mix. She has a tight, clean coat and an adorable under bite. She has guardian-breed tendencies and will need a breed-savvy owner who's able to provide appropriate leadership. She is loyal to her family and loves to snuggle. Her absolute favorite joy in life is Ball! She enjoys playing with other dogs but requires a human who can supervise and advocate for appropriate interactions or she is prone to bullying behavior. She is currently being fostered in a home with two other dogs and is crate-trained, house-trained, and has basic obedience training. She will benefit from structure, leadership, and ongoing training. Once acclimated in a home environment, she loves to snuggle and play and has a goofy, loving personality.  Adopter Profile:  Single family residence required Secure fenced yard preferred Large breed experience required Bully breed experience preferred Other balanced dogs and older children considered on case by case basis Adoption Info: The adoption fee is $400, which includes spay/neuter, core vaccinations per AVMA standards, flea/tick treatment, deworming, and microchip with lifetime registration. Your adoption fee may be tax deductible as DGS is a 501c3 organization. Medical Notes: Penny has had one TPLO repaired in Spring 2025 and fully recovered, before tearing her other CCL in Fall 2025. We will do another TPLO for her with adoption interest.  Animal History:  Penny and her siblings were a surprise litter - their mother was adopted from a local family when she was unknowingly pregnant, so he got much more than he bargained for when she had puppies soon after her adoption. Penny was born on 12/09/22; one of the littermates was  DNA tested and so presumably all littermates are  75% English Bulldog, 12.5% German Shepherd, 12.5% Rhodesian Ridgeback. As puppies, these dogs were playful and engaging. Penny was adopted as a puppy to a family who was not prepared for the tendencies of this breed combination. Without any formal training, she developed territorial behaviors in the home and on walks that ultimately led the family to return her to the rescue. She has since been evaluated and fostered in a DGS foster home. She is currently available for adoption to the greater Seattle area.  September 10, 2026, 1:34 am
