Story
Hi. My name is Scooby. I am a very cute little female calico. My foster mom named me Scooby, well, just because she thought it was fun. 🙂. I really do love to run, chase toys, chase all the other cats in my house, including my brother Sullivan, who is also available for adoption. I like to climb, which my foster mom keeps telling me isn’t always a safe idea. She really needs to keep an eye on my energy, as I try to climb up high. My foster family has an older dog, who’s pretty mellow, we coexist just fine, but don’t really hang out. So a high energy dog may take some getting used. As for children of any age, I’ve only met a couple, very briefly so that too may take getting used to. I really do enjoy having other cats to pal around with as that’s all I’ve known. When I’m tired out and napping I love to curl up and snuggle but I’m not so much a lap cat, at least not yet. I may be a bit shy at first but be patient with me and then you’ll really get to know my sweet, fun personality. Kittens adopted through FUR will be vaccinated, spayed or neutered, tested for Felv/FIV and they are microchipped prior to adoption. Typical Kitten adoption donations are $175, cash or cards accepted, sorry no checks. Southern California residents only, we do not adopt to residents not within driving distance of our adoption centers. Please visit our website, www.felineundergroundrescue.com to submit an application.

PLEASE READ ALL OF THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION BELOW. IT WILL ANSWER ALL YOUR QUESTIONS. If you still have questions after, we are happy to respond through email. It is a long read and a long adoption process. Please understand we are ensuring that our babies go to great homes and we don't know you personally (yet). Understand that this is an adoption of a beautiful little soul that deserves the absolute best life. VANESSA FISK has had a rough life. We believe someone dumped her in our area. She found herself to our outdoor colony. Then we found her in our front lawn, attacked by some kind of animal. We rushed her to the vet. She has a huge scar under her fur. You cant see it at all. In her long recovery process, VANESSA FISK learned to adapt to the indoor life (that's why we think she was dumped). So now she is nice and plumb. She's timid, but we believe in a home with a person or family looking for a quite new buddy will make her flourish. While she has spent time in our cattery, she has learned to be social with all the cats. She's even learned to climb to the ceiling ramp. She's looking for a place to just be a couch potato. Someone's reading buddy. Ok...maybe a TV buddy. Who needs a friend? VANESSA FISK is DOMESTIC SHORT HAIR / CALICO MIX. She is about 6 years old and is good with cats. She has never been around dogs or young children. We don't think she will do well with dogs. The vet thinks a coyote or loose dog attacked her. VANESSA FISK is currently at our rescue in Hemet, California. ADOPTION PROCESS: 1. Go to Workinwhiskers.com (Click on ADOPT) 2. Fill Out Online Form 3. Submit Online Application 4. Someone Will Call / Text to Do Phone Interview 5. Will be notified of Approved Application 6. Home Visit (WILL BE SCHEDULED) 7. Official Meet and Greet with Kitty 8. Sign Adoption Contract 9. Pay Adoption Fee (VENMO - ZELLE - PAYPAL or CASH) 10. Take the Kitty Home ********* MAY CONSIDER OUT OF STATE ADOPTIONS NEAR CALIFORNIA, BUT BE AWARE THAT WE WILL NOT SHIP. ADOPTER WILL NEED TO PICK UP********** MARCH 2024: VOLUNTEERS are the only ones allowed to let you meet the kitty. Not PETSMART employees. Volunteers are usually at PetSmart between 9 am to 1 pm for cleaning. The cats currently at PETSMART you are allowed to go visit. A good time to come visit is between 4 pm - 9 pm. The VOLUNTEERS are only there in the evening for 3 hours so please email us or visit the cattery for VISITING HOURS. Most days are different 3 hour shifts. It's based on volunteer availability. The kitties at a foster/rescue homes, we will accommodate as much as possible. But steps 1-6 of the ADOPTION PROCESS need to be done before we do OFFICIAL MEET & GREETS. PETSMART in Murrieta, California off Madison Avenue in Hemet, California off Florida Avenue in Palm Desert, California off Monterey Avenue or any PETSMART near you! The crazy rescue mama will drive kitties to their new home, meet & greets, etc...once the phone interview and home check have been done.. Gas donations always appreciated! ************ PLEASE NO CALLS. NO ONE IS AVAILABLE TO TAKE CALLS ************* If the CAT/KITTEN is still listed (meaning here or other websites) they are still available. It does not mean they don't have other pending applications or meet and greets. Please note: Just because you fill out an application and are approved does not obligate you to adopt the cat/kitten. If he or she is not a fit...we have plenty of other cats / kittens available for adoption. We are a SMALL rescue based out of Hemet, California. We are all volunteers that run the rescue. If we haven't reached out....be patient. VANESSA FISK is ALREADY fully vetted. The adoption fee of $200 covers: Spay FVRCP shots RABIES shot FELV/FIV test (Negative/Negative) Drontal Dewormer Stronghold Flea Control Microchip We are NOT a government FUNDED shelter and all our donations and adoption fees are for our rescued cats/kittens. So, we do not do DISCOUNTS. If for some unfortunate reason you missed out on the kitten/cat you emailed about...I'm sure that we could help you with another rescue baby! Just ask! It is a long read and a long adoption process. Please understand we are ensuring that our babies go to great homes and we don't know you personally (yet). Understand that this is an adoption of a beautiful little soul that deserves the absolute best life. A lady on Next Door reached out to our rescue partner and asked if she could help a kitten. She was found in a bush alone in Redondo Beach, Ca. SELENA was feisty and so small. She really was made to be a house (queen) kitty . SELENA is now ready for her FUREVER home. Meet SELENA, a cat with a personality as unique as her name. She's a master of hide and seek, often found tucked away in the most unexpected corners. Her mellow nature makes her the perfect companion for quiet evenings, yet her intelligence is evident in the way she cleverly navigates her surroundings. SELENA’s independence allows her to entertain herself, but her goofy side comes out when she's in the mood for play, making you chuckle with her sassy antics. However, don't be fooled, she has a feisty streak and isn't afraid to assert herself when necessary. Adopt SELENA and enrich your life with her multifaceted personality. SELENA does ask for pets. She actually demands them. She loves to play and will let you know she likes her can food! She is a petite little queen! She is a gorgeous little teenager. But don't take our word for it...go meet her!She is not a lap cat, but we can see her potential! She has lived indoors with her foster siblings. SELENA is a CALICO / DOMESTIC SHORT HAIR MIX. She is about 2 years old and 11 months old and is good with cats. In her foster home, she was around other kittens and older cats. She would probably do better as the queen of her house. She does better with sweet calm cats. She's afraid of confrontational cats. She has never been around children and is not quite used to dogs. SELENA is currently located at a foster home in Hemet, California. ADOPTION PROCESS: 1. Go to Workinwhiskers.com (Click on ADOPT) 2. Fill Out Online Form 3. Submit Online Application 4. Not good with cats, Needs special attention, Spayed or Neutered, Shots are up-to-date,
Story
Bandit is a very friendly, outgoing cat who gets along great with people. He loves humans, but just can't seem to get along with other cats and is looking for an indoor home where he will be the only cat. He loves to sit in your lap and be petted. Bandit's estimated date of birth is 8/11/16 and he weighs approximately 13 pounds. He was rescued from living as a friendly stray and must have had a home at some time. Bandit has been neutered, vaccinated and dewormed. He is listed as special needs because he tested positive for Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV), also known as Feline AIDS. FIV+ cats can and do live quite normal lives - in quality - in duration - and in happiness. FIV+ cats might be considered by some to be 'special needs' cats because, while they are healthy and live quite normal lives, they have tested positive for Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV). We now know that FIV is basically a virus whose presence has the potential to cause some weakening of a cats' immune system. It does not seem to have much impact on lifespan. We now know that this is a cat-only virus and cannot be passed to humans or to other species of animals. We have also learned that FIV does not pass to other cats through casual friendly contact. Experience, studies and the medical research community have, for numerous years now, watched positive cats live peacefully together with non-positive cats without transference. It takes a seriously deep bite wound or blood transfusion from an FIV+ cat to infect another so a typical household where cats live in harmony can blend FIV+ and FIV- cats without worry. However, we do recommend that Bandit be the only cat in the household because he doesn't get along with other cats and because he is FIV+. It is extremely difficult for FIV+ cats to find their forever homes, so please consider opening your home and heart to Bandit. Bandit has so very much to love to give and is very deserving! $25 adoption fee, cash only, which is to help reimburse for a portion of expenses of cat rescue and rehabilitation. Adoption contract required. Location: Quail Valley/Menifee, Southwest Riverside County. We are looking for permanent indoor homes for our cats and adopters who are willing and able to care for this pet for its lifetime (15+ years). If interested, please email us with a little info about you, your family, your lifestyle, your other pets, where you live, etc. and what type of cat you are looking for--an indoor companion, outdoor or? Thank you. Please understand that living in a rescue with multiple other cats is stressful for cats for a number of reasons including the transient nature of a rescue with cats coming and going, dealing and contending with other cats and some cats not being socialized with other cats. This all leads to constant social stress and readjustment for a cat. In addition, cats living in a rescue may not get the socialization with humans and the individual attention that they would receive in their own home. This all affects a cat's behavior and some cats regress or become shy and reserved in a rescue. And sadly, many common house cats, especially black cats, are overlooked and passed over and live and wait in the rescue for extended periods of time. However, if given a chance, these cats blossom in their new homes when given the love and attention they need and deserve. We are looking for adopters who are willing to open their hearts and homes to a rescued cat and are willing to give a rescued cat a chance and accept it for who it is. Going to a new home is scary and traumatic; therefore, we ask the new adopter to be patient and give the cat time to settle in and get comfortable in its new environment and learn to trust you. We never know how long it will take for a cat to acclimate to their new home because all cats are different. Some cats walk in and make themselves right at home. Sometimes it takes 2-3 days or even weeks to settle in. Even though the cat might not have made a good first impression, when acclimated and comfortable in its new home, the cat's personality will come out and you will see the nice cat companion it is. We have the best interest of the cat in mind and our goal is to find a good, permanent home for each of our rescued animals. Therefore, we have the right to decline an application if we feel it is not a good match/fit or suitable home. Our adoption process is to prescreen potential adopters to determine if the home would be a good match/fit, complete an application and set up a time for the meet and greet. We used to show pets at Petsmart and before that at Petco, but since the ongoing pandemic we have been bringing the cats to the prospective new home to do the meet and greet. We have found this works well for a number of reasons, including we deliver the adopted pet to the new home anyway to see where it will be living and the cats show better at a home rather than at noisy and scary Petsmart. We bring the cat's vet records and a little food he is used to eating. If we all agree to proceed with the adoption, we complete an adoption contract, collect the adoption fee and leave the cat with you. All our adoptions are on a trial basis because our goal is to have a successful adoption where the cat has a good permanent home for its lifetime and never ends up in a bad situation again. We ask that you give the cat a chance to adjust and settle in his new home and environment. This should be a bonding period where you get to know the cat and connect with it, spend time with it and take things slow. He/she will need to get to know and trust you and learn the rules of the house and what is expected of him/her. This takes time, sometimes 2-3 weeks or more. We hold the adoption fee for one month and if the adoption is not working out, we ask that you contact us and return the cat to us and we will refund your adoption fee.
