You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Welcome to Act 2 Rescue where you become part of our A2R family! Adoption is an important time in your life and we are grateful to be a part of it. We take pride in offering you a personalized adoption experience with continuing behavioral support as needed. -Mindy Gould, CEO *Note:  A2R kitties are all sterilized, fully vaccinated (if old enough), socialized in private homes not a cattery, they usually receive high end cat food, probiotics, & regular health care. We also provide 30 days of Petcademy free to support transition into your new home as well as having a professional cat behavior coach on staff to support your needs. We take pride in going above and beyond in our customer and kitty service. When you adopt from us you become part of our A2R family and join a community through our social media as well. Be sure to follow us on Instagram, Facebook, Tik Tok and You Tube. _______________________________________________________________________  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. Please be aware we are a small foster based rescue in Riverside, California. Our volunteers often have other jobs/careers as well. We are not a government funded shelter and all of our donations including adoption donations are used to run the rescue and help the animals in our care. Since we are no kill, higher fees for in demand breeds help us cover critical care.  We are always in need of volunteers, donations, and fosters. Please excuse any wait times as we are often inundated with emergencies or short staffed due to the overpopulation crisis. You can learn more about us on our website or follow us here.   Steps 1-2  of the ADOPTION PROCESS must be done before we do OFFICIAL MEET & GREETS or take deposits.  To keep animals healthy,  we limit  foster based meet & greets  to people fully qualified to adopt them.   No animals can be held without a $75 deposit. Deposits cannot be refunded if you change your mind, they are to hold a cat and can result in other adopters being told they cannot adopt. ADOPTION PROCESS: 1.  Application:  Log into our website and complete the adoption application at link below: Applications :  Forms (rescuegroups.org) 2. Virtual Home Check: Once your application is approved, check back if you haven't been scheduled for a virtual home check within 48 hours.  A virtual home check to ensure safety of your residence for your kitty (not perfect cleanliness). You will be told during the visit if you pass.  3. Official meet & greet with your kitty at an adoption event, foster care, or adoption center depending on location of the kitty.   We only have a few  volunteers,  so we apologize at times we fall behind due to high demand of some cats.  5. Sign adoption contract and, if appropriate, foster to adopt clause. 6. Pay adoption fee via zelle using act2rescue@gmail.com (not our phone number) or using cash. We can accept cards at adoption events but the terminal charges fees that are pretty high so it's not the best option.  7. Take your kitty home. Be sure to isolate kitty while they adjust to your home. We may check in from time to time to be sure you do not need any additional support because we love hearing how our kitties are doing. As volunteer staff, happy stories are literally our paycheck.  8. Check out our website https://act2rescue.org for resources, blogs and info on how to best take care of your new kitty. Our professional behavior coach is available via text to assist you with transition as well. We also have a Facebook group to interact with our behavior coach and other kitten care experts, as well as our A2R family like you! ****Please note, we do not have dedicated staff for phone lines so please text instead of calling. If the cat/kitten is listed, they are available. However, they could have pending applications or meet and greets scheduled. Filling out an application and approval does not obligate you to adopt the kitty. If they are not a fit...we have plenty of other kitties for adoption. This kitty has received at least two FVCRP vaccines, rabies if over 4 months, Revolution for fleas/ticks/heartworms/stomach parasites/ear mites, de-wormer, sterilization*, and microchip (you must register for it to work but it's free).  All kitties are given a general wellness check by a veterinarian prior to sterilization.  Deposits: The only way we can hold a kitty is with a non-refundable (if you decide not to adopt within 2 weeks not if we void the adoption) deposit of $75. We reserve the right to void the adoption up until the point the contract is signed. If we cancel the adoption (for kitty health or other issues) we will refund your deposit. If you wait longer than 2 weeks, we cannot hold the kitty due to space constraints. Your deposit could be used on another kitty. If you decide not to adopt at all, any deposit will go to the care of animals rescued with us and may be written off as a donation.   Foster to Adopt: Kittens must be 2 lbs or 8 weeks and fixed to be adopted. This will be noted in the approximate available date. If a kitty is unable to be fixed in a timely manner, they may foster to adopt. This would be all adoption paperwork and donations would be exchanged and the kitten would go home. Adoption paperwork will have a clause that it is not final until animal is sterilized.  Once the sterilization appointment arrives you must bring them in to be sterilized or the animal will have to be returned to the rescue. You may also have them sterilized on your own and show proof to the rescue. Once sterilized the adoption will be complete. We normally do not do these in this manner but due to extreme situations they may arise. Final health checks are done during sterilization. Any unknown health issues would also allow you to choose a different cat.   Failure to comply with sterilization will result in returning the animal to us without refund of donations. Breeds:  We cannot guarantee breed but do our best to identify possible breeds based on their appearancxe and personality. If you DNA test your furry friend, let us know the results. It is fun to see what the kitty actually is and how close our guess is. Please know not all DNA companies test for all breeds and the science is still catching up so it may adjust later to have breeds we saw. We like to know so we can improve our analysis too.   We cannot guarantee health but go to great lengths to have healthy kitties. Kitties do not live in a cattery but in private fosters for this reason.  Snap Testing: We do not test for FELV/FIV in healthy animals as it is often incorrect in animals under 6 months and can be a false positive. False negatives also give a false sense of security. These tests are best done if an animal is unhealthy to determine disease.  https://www.uwsheltermedicine.com/library/resources/why-are-some-shelters-no-longer-testing-all-cats-for-felv-and-fiv July 12, 2026, 1:39 am

Story
Rescued from my ex husband’s house after he was arrested unfortunately and he doesn’t get along with my one of my other cats or my dogs. He’s very temperamental and will scratch or bite if he doesn’t like you or you touch his belly but he will come get attention and affection when he wants it. He does love cuddles in bed but again, it’s on his terms.

Story
I found Mimi living in the bushes of a Chevron Gas Station. She looked heavily pregnant and yet was a kitten herself. She was very hungry but skittish. I began to feed her every morning. She looked forward to me feeding her, even running to my car to greet me. Unbeknownst to me she had given birth. One day that I fed her, her 3 kittens ran out. She trusted me to help her and her kittens. We have found homes for the three kittens now. However I cannot keep her because we rescued a pregnant kittie before and we kept her and her kittens. These kittens are grown now and are the very jealous type. She needs a loving home where she can recover from having kittens at a very young age. She looks very fragile. She is getting spayed on the 15th of July.

Story
My lady took Sushi in from a friend as a favor, and she grew on us since then! Sushi is a Calico munchkin ~3-5 years old, and a lil skiddish, but super cute. She gotta trust you first before she opens up to you, but once she does, her personality will shine. Unfortunately, our landlord is cracking down on pet limits, and despite talking with them, our second notice was given and we don’t have long to find her a home. Here’s to hoping the internet will do its thing.

Story
Hello Cat Whispers,Everyone calls me Little Girl, I am a 10 year old mature female cat. If you like a quiet cat, that is me. It takes awhile for me to warm up to you. I don't care for young kids and only trust adults and seniors. I like wet and dry food. I also enjoy a little catnip here and there. I love rubs on my belly and petting. My grandma is maturing and her health is unfortunately declining. I need a new home. We are both sad, but knows this must be done. I’m a low maintenance cat, easy going and like my quiet space.I love cleaning myself often and occasionally get the hairballs.P.S. if you're looking for a younger cat, look up my sister (Lupita) she also needs a new home too.

Story
Shirla and her two sons, Shadd and Shaydon, were admitted to Devore Animal Shelter in June of 2018, when shelter staff estimated Shirla to be about three years old. By an unusual bureaucratic twist, the little family was transferred to Riverside Shelter in early July. Although Kitty Devore Rescue pulls exclusively from Devore, we never stopped considering them “ours.” The KD team worked quickly to bring Shirla and her boys safely into our foster care program, where they finally landed exactly where they belonged. While her boys have long since found their forever homes, Shirla is still waiting for her perfect people to come along. Shirla is a spunky, confident, and delightfully feisty girl who knows what she wants and isn’t shy about it. She wants all the toys, all the treats, and all the attention, thank you very much. Though she’s a full-grown adult, she has the playful energy and spark of a much younger cat. Shirla expects to be queen of the household and would thrive as an only kitty, ruling her domain with confidence and charm. She’s fine with dogs, provided they respect her personal space. Above all else, Shirla is a people-cat. She truly loves human companionship and bonds deeply with her person. If you’re looking for a devoted, spirited companion to be your one and only, Shirla has been waiting patiently for you. Visit www.kittydevorerescue.org to fill out an adoption application and give this wonderful girl the forever home she deserves.

Story
We didn't know, and the shelter staff didn't know, but she was expecting when we rescued Rosy in early August 2023! Her foster parents didn't anticipate kittens as part of the fostering deal, but they learned the happy news after a veterinary exam appointment. We were concerned though. Rosy, just one year old then, was so thin and malnourished. We had just enough time to help her fortify her body in anticipation of her bundles of joy. A month after her rescue, Rosy welcomed identical gray quadruplets on September 6th - Ace, Charlie, Bootz, and her single daughter, Jannie. Rosy, just like an actual rose, takes time to bloom. Her foster parents discovered that patience and dedicated love enabled Rosy to blossom into the most loving of companions to humans and other cats alike. After a hard life on the streets, she relishes her leisure time and indoor life, lounging in her bowl scratchers for hours on end. She appreciates chin scratches and is endlessly fascinated with Bird TV. Above all else, she loves her treats and anyone can entice her with Churus or Temptations. Of course, these don't stunt her appetite. Rosy never misses a meal! As soon as she hears the pop of a can or the clattering of delicious pieces of goodness filling her bowl, she beelines to the kitchen faster than you can blink. Despite her rough start, she's landed soft, and her spirit remains resilient and indomitable. As a social girl, Rosy would thrive best in a home with other kitties and humans who strive to earn her trust and love. You'll know you've succeeded when she bestows you with your first love bite. If you're convinced Rosy is the perfect kitty for you, fill out an adoption application to adopt her today at www.kittydevorerescue.org!
