Story
Hi, I’m Yael. I was rescued from a Seal Beach alley with my three kittens a few years ago. What a relief it was to get off the street into a safe place. I was not used to being around people and I still don’t allow people to approach me but I don’t hide as much as I used to and no longer run for my life when someone enters my room at SBACC. I enjoy the company of other cats and am comfortable here. I wouldn’t mind living out my years where I’m loved and cared for by a wonderful team of volunteers and staff.  Maybe if the right person came along, I could adjust to a new home, but SBACC feels like home. Permanent Foster Needed for Smokey and Sunshine A senior couple could no longer care for their three cats, Sunshine, Smokey and Gloria, and surrendered them to AALOC. Sunshine is a domestic shorthair cat and is timid at first but with a little bit of patience she comes around easily. Once you build a bit of trust with Sunshine she is very friendly, loves attention and will follow you around curious about the things you are doing. Sunshine also enjoys food – this is not a picky eater cat but does require medication for arthritis. Sunshine has been at AALOC for several years and really needs a home. She is bonded to her best friend Smokey: they must be adopted together. Because of her colorings - blue/gray and tan patches on a white/cream fur background – we believe Sunshine is a dilute calico cat. Although dilute calico cats are not extremely rare, it is more difficult to find one than a standard calico with black and red patches on a white fur background. As a permanent foster you would be responsible for loving and caring for Smokey and Sunshine, taking them to vet appointments and making sure they receive their medications and are comfortable. AALOC would pay for all of Smokey and Sunshine’s vet visits, grooming, food and medications. Please submit an application to foster Sunshine and Smokey at www.AALOC.org. Once your application is reviewed and approved we will contact you to make an appointment to visit us at AALOC to meet Sunshine and Smokey and get to know them a bit.

Story
A volunteer was driving in Westminster and came across a cardboard box sitting underneath a parked truck with three kittens inside. A concerned neighbor had been feeding the kittens for a few weeks while trying to find them somewhere to go with no luck. He said the mother cat had been hit by a car a couple weeks earlier, and her kittens were left. All three kittens were out in the freezing, cold rain trying to fend for themselves. Unfortunately, this compassionate neighbor had too many animals to adopt them himself. Our vet confirmed they all had mites, mange, and giardia. All three issues have been successfully cured and Marco, Polo and Poly are ready to find new homes. Polo, a black, orange and white calico, is a bit timid at first but she will warm up with patience and gentle persuasion. She does enjoy playing with her brother Marco and if you would be willing to adopt two cats Marco and Polo would be a good pair of friends. They would complement each other and be best friends for life. Please apply to adopt Polo at www.AALOC.org. Once your application is reviewed and approved we will contact you to make an appointment to visit us at AALOC to meet Polo and get to know her a bit. Donation of $100 for cat adoption includes spay/neuter, vaccinations, and a microchip. Applications require a veterinary reference and home visit. We adopt to residents of Orange County, CA and surrounding areas. Please note: For families with children, we require children to be 10 years of age or older, although exceptions are made depending on the circumstances. For more information on adoption policies visit our cat adoption page at www.aaloc.org. Contact us by e-mail at aaloc@aaloc.org.

Story
Two young women approached the AALOC front door and rang the doorbell. With only one team member working that afternoon handling all the animals’ needs she was unable to respond immediately. When no one answered quickly enough the two women left the box with five precious female kittens and drove away. We are currently maxed out on space but how can you turn your back on these sweet little babies that no one cares about? We named these adorable, female kittens after perfumes. If you’ve ever owned a cat, you know healthy cats smell delicious. They constantly groom themselves to keep their fur clean. Cats also use smell as their primary sense for identifying people and objects. Felines have over 200 million odor sensors in their nose. Compare this to humans who have a mere five million. Cats can smell more than 14 times better than we can so always be conscious of the smell of scented litter, candles or other items/people that might upset your cat. Besides, we think Estee, Chanel, Prada, Gucci and Tabu are very upscale cats. And we know they all need and deserve great forever homes. Please apply to adopt Estee (and one or more of her siblings if you can!) at www.aaloc.org. Once your application is reviewed and approved, we will contact you to make an appointment to visit us at AALOC to meet Estee and get to know her a bit.

Once your adoption application has been approved, we will have you fill out a Pet Promise Certificate (adoption contract) *SGVAA’s adoption donation allows us to rescue the next kitty from the streets and pay for all of their health and welfare needs (spay, neuter, shots, deworming, flea meds, microchip) *We also provide free home delivery of your new kitty/kitties! About This Rescue SGVAA is dedicated to the protection and humane treatment of pets in the San Gabriel Valley area. We encourage people to rescue a homeless animal instead of buying one. Our organization also educates the community on the importance of early vaccinations for fatal and easily preventable diseases. We also advocate spaying or neutering to reduce pet overpopulation. Once an animal is in our care we vaccinate all rescues against disease & provide needed health care, fight pet overpopulation by spaying or neutering all rescues, and provide lifetime shelter and care to any rescued animal that is not adopted. Come Meet Their Pets Most of our adoptable pets live in loving foster homes. For interested adopters, we can arrange meet-and-greets with our foster families, at our live-in habitats in the West Covina and El Monte Petcos, as well as at the Huntington Beach (Edinger) Petsmart. We also post pictures of our adorable kitties at sgvaa.org, our Facebook page and on Instagram!
