April was a young mother when she came to CCC. She was found on April 1, 2025 with her newborns so was given the birthday of April 1, 2024. She raised her babies with the help of foster parents before moving to the adoption floor in June 2025. April was anxious when she first got to the adoption floor and tended to stay underneath the cat trees. Slowly over the past few months she has gradually moved up the cat trees to where she can now be found almost at eye level. She still is very hesitant around people so it will take a while for her to warm up with a family. She would do best in a quiet home with an understanding family who will give her time to adjust to the new environment. She has shown comfort with Sparky so would probably do well with other low energy cats who could be a comfort for her.

This beautiful calico has been through a lot — she arrived at the shelter with a large abdominal wound — but with gentle care and time, she’s healed and is now ready to pour her sweetness into a forever home. DOB: 11/26/2017 Sophee is a stunning 7-year old calico beauty with a heart as colorful as her coat.  This sweet girl once had a loving home, but when her owner lost her job and had to move into shared housing, she was heartbroken to learn she couldn’t bring Sophee along.  Through no fault of her own, Sophee found herself in a shelter, confused and grieving the loss of everything she knew.  Sophee seemed to think she had done something wrong, and she became very depressed – retreating to the back of her cage, closing her eyes to the world, and refusing to eat.  Each day she appeared to shrink a little more, quietly giving up.  But Sophee’s story didn’t end there.  When she entered foster care, she was fragile and shut down – hunkered in a bathtub for comfort, drooling from stress and even losing some of her beautiful fur due to anxiety.  She still wouldn’t eat.  Yet, with patience, gentle brushing, soft words and steady love, something began to change.  On the fifth day, Sophee nibbled a little food.  Then she lifted a paw and batted a toy mouse.  It was the smallest gesture – but it was hope.  Today, Sophee is thriving.  She has blossomed back into the delightful, affectionate companion she was always meant to be.  She loves to walk between your legs as if to remind you that she’s there, sit beside you for quiet company and simply be near her people.  She adores batting around toy mice and soft balls – so be sure to keep a good supply on hand for Her Majesty!  A daily serving of wet food also wins her heart.  Sophee tolerates dogs but would truly prefer not to share her kingdom with other cats.  She would be happiest as the one and only feline - Queen of her castle, adored and cherished as she deserves.  If you’re looking for a loyal companion who has known loss but chosen love again, Sophee is ready to give her whole heart to a forever home.  All she needs now is someone who will promise she’ll never have to wonder why she was left behind again.  Could you be Sophee’s happily ever after?   **This cat is currently in a foster home and arrangements can be made for a meeting once you have applied with us. Meet the big and beautiful Holt! After originally being rescued from a hoarding situation and then getting adopted from us back in 2020, Holt's owner unfortunately passed away, and she ended up back at the shelter four years later in 2024. After spending 6 long months here, Holt had a second chance at a forever home and was readopted in December of 2024. Unfortunately, just over a year after she made it to her new home, her new owner ended up in an assisted living facility and devastatingly had to leave Holt behind. So that's how Holt ended up at the shelter again. We are sure that she'll be able to open up her heart to another family one more time so she can live out the rest of her golden years. She definitely deserves it! Holt is a couch potato. She spends most of her days sleeping, curled up in a nice and cushiony cat bed. She would enjoy having one or two to sleep on in her new home...But we think that YOUR bed would soon become her favorite! Her previous owner's family expressed that all she loved to do everyday was lay next to and sleep with her favorite person. She prefers head and ear scratches rather than back scratches. Even though Holt is a bit lazy... We have seen her playing with a ball track toy that spins, as well as a fun dangling wand toy. She still has some youthful energy left in her yet! Another thing that Holt loves: FOOD! She gets excited and starts meowing for her tasty food and lickable treat snacks. Holt likes her solidarity away from other cats as well as dogs. We think the best type of home for her would be one where she is the only pet. Come by the Humane Society to meet sweet old lady Holt!

Her foster says, "Butterscotch is such a sweet girl. She's really laid back and aspires to being a lap cat. Very friendly but not demanding. She loves her cave bed and toys. She ignores the dogs but doesn't seem to mind them being around." What a dream for anyone looking for a calm, loving, and easy going girl. Eleven year old Butterscotch just requires that you keep her diet and exercise routine going so she can get to her goal and live a healthy life. How rewarding it will be! She also prefers no other cats in her new home, please.

Millie and Maxine are sweet sisters who truly enjoy each other’s company and get along wonderfully together, as well as with other cats. While they are not a bonded pair, they would absolutely love to go home together if you have room in your heart for two! Both girls are very sweet and seem to enjoy attention, but they are still a bit timid in the shelter environment. Maxine tends to be the more shy and apprehensive of the two when it comes to receiving pets — though that certainly doesn’t stop her from politely asking for them. Millie is beginning to blossom and will come out of her hidey hole when things are quiet enough, even following you around for attention. We believe these lovely girls would thrive in a calm, quiet home with a patient and understanding adopter who will give them time to settle in and build confidence. With love and consistency, we’re sure they will grow into the sweetest companions.
