Story
Beaux was found as a stray in Rouge Park, a known dumping spot for unwanted dogs. Scared and alone a kind couple found him wandering and took him in. Reached out to the rescue and we were able to find a foster. He is still learning but does well on walks and fully potty training. Unknown with cats but great with other dogs. He already knows several commands he is a very smart dude! She’s a playful, affectionate pup with a gentle nature that makes her a wonderful companion for families. She gets along great with children and is comfortable around cats, showing both curiosity and respect. Full of energy and personality, she loves to play, explore, and be part of the action, but she also enjoys downtime and cuddles. She’s at a great age for continued training and bonding, making her a perfect addition to a loving home ready to help her grow into a loyal and well-mannered adult. *This pet is featured through our Pet Re-Homing Program. This is a private pet. Please use your best judgement when deciding to meet. Any questions or comments regarding this pet should be directed to the owner listed. Again, this is not a pet affiliated with Oakland County Animal Shelter. This program was created to help residents of Oakland County needing placement of a loving pet and hopefully avoiding a stressful shelter environment.

We do our best to provide information that will help determine if the animal might be a good fit for you. Please note that behaviors may change in a home environment. We also ask our applicants to assume that any animal they adopt from us will need to be potty-trained and learn house manners, although this is not always the case. In most cases, the listed breeds are also a best guess. Our online animal bios are designed to provide as much information as possible and answer some anticipated questions. We do not have the resources to respond to emails with more specific questions. We are receiving an unusually high number of applications at this time! Applications are reviewed as they are received, but we do not select adopters on a first-come basis. Our job is to ensure each pet is placed into the best fit home for them and that adopters are paired with an animal that is a good fit for their lifestyle. All animals will stay online until they are “pending adoption”. Therefore, if an animal is still listed, we are still accepting applications for him/her! Please do not send inquiries about a specific animal's availability as this can change quickly over the course of the day. The fastest way to get a response is to simply submit an application! We will do our best to notify you by email if the pet(s) you are interested in are no longer available. New animals are posted daily, so please let us know if another furry friend peaks your interest (there is no need to fill out a second application)! Fill out the application completely. Every question must be answered, and it must be signed.-Applicants must be 21+ years old and live within a 100-mile radius of our shelter at 22415 Groesbeck Hwy, Warren 48089.-You must identify at least 1 animal that you are interested in.-Once your application is received, it will be assigned to one of our volunteer Adoption Counselors who will follow-up with the applicant who is the best fit within a few days, or to discuss other options. It could take up to a couple of weeks for you to receive a final disposition on your application so there is no need to check on the status.-Introductions will be scheduled by appointment only, 30 minutes per appointment. The entire household, including current dogs, must be present for the appointment. (Note: Please do not bring your dogs if you are meeting cats!). The introductions will take place outside in our parking lot (or in our cat room if you're meeting cats).-We will perform vet checks for current and prior pets in the household.-Finalizing the adoption will also be scheduled by appointment.Thank you for your understanding.

Story
Max is updated on shots, neutered, loved kids, love being petted. He has a smaller dog in the house and plays with her and has never hurt her. However, the smaller dog will whimper and cry, he told to go to place. He’s a gentle giant . The kids has pulled his tail, sat on him back, pulled his legs and he has never hurt them at all. The kids ages are 5 years and 6 years old.. He will bark when he hears something outside and will bark if someone is coming to the house . He has been introduced to strangers and once he smells their hand, he’s fine. He will allow the stranger that he didn’t know to pet him. I selected a place in my house that I call Place and will say to him to go to Place. He will stay for awhile but if I get up and move, he will follow me wherever I go including the bathroom (he tried but I don’t allow him to come in)… He tried playing with my 5 lbs Maltese but she growls at him and shows her little teeth and when he tried playing with her, she whimper and cry

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. If interested in any of our animals for adoption, or to foster an animal, please fill out the respective application here to get the process started. Visit our FAQ webpage for commonly asked questions about our adoption/foster process. Meet Bruno: A Sensitive Giant with a Huge Heart! Bruno is a gorgeous Cane Corso who is just as smart as he is sweet. A true gentle giant, he is an incredibly intelligent, sensitive, and goofy boy who lives for three simple things: delicious food, playful energy, and—most importantly—cuddles (and then maybe some more cuddles). While he is a big boy, he has a tender soul. Bruno doesn't have an aggressive bone in his body, but he can get startled easily and his first instinct is to run and hide when scared. Because of this, he needs a confident, patient handler who can show him the world is a safe place. He is an incredibly fast learner who thrives on positive reinforcement and clear, loving structure. If you are looking for a loyal, affectionate shadow who will make you laugh daily, Bruno is your guy!  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.Last Day Dog Rescue now microchips all animals before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the animals shoulder blades and are a permanent form of identification. If the animal is ever lost and slips his/her collar/tags the microchip allows the finder to know who to contact if scanned for a microchip. Animals MUST still have a collar with tags on at all times. Per our contract, we take all our animals back if for any reason you can't keep your adopted animal. Please understand the statements about this animal are based upon the foster home's evaluation of the animal. The animal might behave differently (negatively or positively) in your home. While the animal might be good with the current foster’s dogs, cats, children, etc., it may not be with your animal(s) or children. The animal may be housebroken or litter trained in the home of the foster but may relapse in your home. The animal is represented to the public as it performs in the foster home and any statements made regarding the animal are conditional to that foster home setting. Please understand that statements made regarding this animal are simply overviews and are not guaranteed. The Petfinder.com system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our animals. Visual breed identification in animals is unreliable so for most of the animals we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each animal as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our animals based on personality, not by breed label. Thank you for looking through our list of animals needing forever homes and choosing rescue first. We appreciate you stopping by. July 17, 2026, 10:45 am
