Story
Jojo came to us after a major life change. Her owners had a baby, and unfortunately, Jojo was very uncertain of this change. She began having litter box issues that had never occurred before. Her family tried everything, and after 6 long months, they gave up. They were heartbroken to give up their sweet Jojo. Since being in the shelter and being away from the baby, she has had no issues. She kept her kennel clean and used her litter box with no issues. We won't say she isn't good with older children, but we highly advise against toddlers or small children. This pet is already spayed or neutered, so their adoption fee is free. All adopters must bring a cat carrier, otherwise they will need to purchase one from us for $20. All adoptions are first come, first serve. All cats receive at least 1 feline vaccine. All animals receive a flea and parasite prevention/treatment and will be microchipped. All animals can go home the same day as adoption. We will need your photo ID and you will sign some documents. Adopters will also receive a copy of the animal's medical history to date. We do not do an application process. All adoptions are first come, first serve. We do not offer holds.

Story
Zorro was found in an abandoned house.. He was fed by another litters mother that took him in as her own.. He does have a twin brother the only difference is his brothers tail is fluffy..Zorro is very lovable and pushy when it comes to wanting attention!! If you want a cuddly furry friend you can’t go wrong picking Zorro as your fur baby.. He did have a one on one relationship with his caregiver but unfortunately his care giver had to get rid of him due to the owner of the property being a selfish person and making him get rid of Zorro and his sibling and step siblings..

Story
Adoption Fee Reduced for December! Say hello to Buddy! Easygoing and Friendly are two words that perfectly describe him. Back in 2019, Buddy was fostered by his current foster mom. He was surrendered back to AOSC through no fault of his own and was adopted. No fault of his own was surrendered a second time in 2024-- he would love to find his FUREVER home. Buddy has a luxating patella, and it is causing arthritis in his knee. He has been responding well to Solensia shots, but that is an ongoing expense prospective adopters should be aware of. His foster mom has this to say about him: "Before coming back to me as a foster, Buddy was up for adoption at an adoption center, but was terrified at that particular adoption location. As soon as I brought him home, he has been nothing but sweet and affectionate! It has been fun fostering a previous foster of mine! Buddy loves human attention and loves to rub against your legs and be petted. He wants to be wherever YOU are! His foster home has 2 adult cats and he gets along with them very well. His last home he also got along with the other adult cat in the home. Buddy is curious and loves to sit and stare out the window. He LOVES Catnip and his favorite treats are Catnip Temptations! As a matter of fact, his favorite toys are filled with Catnip too! Buddy is a Good-Natured fellow who prefers to keep his space clean, including no bad litter box habits. This Handsome, Affectionate boy will be a great addition to a new family, and hopefully find the forever family that he deserves! Buddy is currently in a foster home. If you feel like he would be the perfect fit for your family, please consider visiting shelbycats.com/adopt to begin the application process!

Story
Poppy is a 9-month-old former outdoor girl who’s ready to trade brave street smarts for cozy couch life. 🌸 She may be a little shy when you first meet her — new places and new people can feel big and overwhelming. But give her a little time, a soft blanket, and a gentle voice, and you’ll start to see the sweetest side of this tenderhearted cat. Poppy doesn’t need much space to be happy. An apartment or smaller home would suit her just fine. She’d do well with a calm family and could live with or without other animals — she mostly just needs patience and kindness while she figures out that she’s finally safe. Once she feels secure, her quiet affection begins to bloom. If you have a soft spot for the underdog and a little extra love to give, Poppy is ready to grow into her very own happily-ever-after. 💛

Story
Kalu – A Gentle Soul Ready to Come Inside! Meet Kalu, a handsome 1.5-year-old fellow with a heart of gold and a story of resilience. Kalu once knew the comforts of a home, but after his owner passed away earlier this year, he found himself navigating life on the streets. Despite these challenges, he has remained an incredibly friendly and easygoing guy who has charmed the entire neighborhood. Kalu is a true "lover boy" who is happiest when he is getting head rubs or curling up in a warm lap. He recently needed some help from a vet to heal a wound from his time outside, and throughout his treatment, he was a perfect gentleman—never angry, just grateful for the care. Now fully healed, neutered, and at a healthy weight, he is ready to retire from his street adventures. This wonderful boy has a moderate energy level and loves the simple things in life: a sprinkle of catnip, a high window perch to watch the world go by, and a safe place to rest. While he has coexisted with other cats, he is looking forward to a life where he doesn't have to fight for territory or dodge busy streets. Kalu has been relying on the kindness of strangers, but he deserves a forever family of his own. If you are looking for a chill, affectionate companion who will be forever grateful for a second chance, Kalu is the one for you. If Kalu sounds like the perfect fit for your family, please consider visiting shelbycats.com/adopt to begin the application process!
