Story
Jojo came to us after a major life change. Her owners had a baby, and unfortunately, Jojo was very uncertain of this change. She began having litter box issues that had never occurred before. Her family tried everything, and after 6 long months, they gave up. They were heartbroken to give up their sweet Jojo. Since being in the shelter and being away from the baby, she has had no issues. She kept her kennel clean and used her litter box with no issues. We won't say she isn't good with older children, but we highly advise against toddlers or small children. This pet is already spayed or neutered, so their adoption fee is free. All adopters must bring a cat carrier, otherwise they will need to purchase one from us for $20. Story
Morta came to us as a stray. She came in with the information that she had been staying with the person who surrendered her for about a month. We were told she is mean and doesn't tolerate attention. Upon doing her assessment, we found that this is not true at all. She is very sweet. She even meows for attention! She allows staff to handle and hold her with no problem at all. This pet is already spayed or neutered, so their adoption fee is free. All adopters must bring a cat carrier, otherwise they will need to purchase one from us for $20. All adoptions are first come, first serve. All cats receive at least 1 feline vaccine. All animals receive a flea and parasite prevention/treatment and will be microchipped. Story
Adoption Fee Reduced for December! Say hello to Buddy! Easygoing and Friendly are two words that perfectly describe him. Back in 2019, Buddy was fostered by his current foster mom. He was surrendered back to AOSC through no fault of his own and was adopted. No fault of his own was surrendered a second time in 2024-- he would love to find his FUREVER home. Buddy has a luxating patella, and it is causing arthritis in his knee. He has been responding well to Solensia shots, but that is an ongoing expense prospective adopters should be aware of. His foster mom has this to say about him: "Before coming back to me as a foster, Buddy was up for adoption at an adoption center, but was terrified at that particular adoption location. As soon as I brought him home, he has been nothing but sweet and affectionate! It has been fun fostering a previous foster of mine! Buddy loves human attention and loves to rub against your legs and be petted. He wants to be wherever YOU are! His foster home has 2 adult cats and he gets along with them very well. His last home he also got along with the other adult cat in the home. Buddy is curious and loves to sit and stare out the window. He LOVES Catnip and his favorite treats are Catnip Temptations! As a matter of fact, his favorite toys are filled with Catnip too! Buddy is a Good-Natured fellow who prefers to keep his space clean, including no bad litter box habits. This Handsome, Affectionate boy will be a great addition to a new family, and hopefully find the forever family that he deserves! Buddy is currently in a foster home. If you feel like he would be the perfect fit for your family, please consider visiting shelbycats.com/adopt to begin the application process!

Story
This is Hester. She appears to have had an indoor home, then been made homeless after getting pregnant. She was being fed by a Good Samaritan when she came to live with a feral cat colony of 7 I maintain at my workplace. Her kittens have been trapped, neutered and homes have been found for all 3! Now it is mama Hesters turn! Hester has been spayed and litter box trained, and is being socialized. She entered a foster home to recover from her surgery. After 2 days, she was out of her cage and onto my lap, purring, making biscuits, and bumping noses with me. Today she got onto the lap of a friend just minutes after meeting her! She is the first cat I have trapped who didn’t thrash about, hiss, or use claws against me. She meowed sweetly just a few times. SHE IS SUCH A GOOD GIRL! She warms up to women quickly but loves my husband too now after having known him for about a month. Would do great in a calm indoor only home with no dogs, has had mixed results with other cats.
