Story
A neighborhood cat chose to have her litter in my yard shelter and I’ve since taken in her kittens. They’ve been spayed/neutered, microchipped, and fully vaccinated. Lil Dude and Poppy are two of the four siblings, and they’re ready for loving homes—either together or separately. Lil Dude is bright, “talkative,” and follows you around like a loyal pup. Poppy, with her velvety-soft coat, is gentle, affectionate, and equally devoted. Both are cuddle bugs who love snuggling in bed, soaking up kisses, and being scooped up for hugs. Playful and curious, they enjoy chasing laser pointers, batting yarn balls, and pouncing on crinkly toys. While they’ll need a little time to adjust to a new environment, their goofy, affectionate personalities shine through. They thrive on attention and would do best with an experienced cat owner who can give them the love and care they deserve.

Story
This cat is part of our Silver Paw Pets program, a foster and adoption program for pets who arrive at the ARL after their owner either passed away or was moved to a care facility where they could not take their pet. If you're interested in adopting this pet, please visit the location it's at or reach out if there is contact info listed above. If you'd like to foster this pet or another Silver Paw Pet, please email Mary at mmccarroll@arl-iowa.org. - Stressed around other cats (happiest as the only feline) This cat has shown signs of overstimulation while in the shelter. Lots of handling, playing with hands, and excessive petting can cause them to overstimulate, which can result in scratching and/or biting. This cat is looking for experienced cat owners who will watch this cat's body language while interacting to note signs of overstimulation (tail waving, fur rippling, dilated pupils, ears turned back and quick body movements) and be willing to respect their boundaries. This cat will also benefit from interactive toys such as wands and ball spinners while playing. We are happy to speak with you more when you visit and can provide post-adoption resources. If you can give this cat mental stimulation, patience and space when they need it, please consider adopting! They would love to be your sidekick and buddy for life! All adoptable cats and kittens are spayed/neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations (rabies and FVRCP as appropriate for their age) Primary Color: Grey Secondary Color: White Weight: 9.19 Age: 1yrs 7mths 0wks

HOW TO ADOPT: This cat is participating in our Shelter Cat Getaway foster program, which gives cats a vacation from the shelter and lets them enjoy home life while they wait to be adopted. To schedule a time to meet this cat, please contact Mary at mmccarroll@arl-iowa.org ---- A very large, loving lady who will win your heart- Will thrive in a more mature home; young, busy children are not a good fit for her- Is not a fan of other animals, and really needs to be the only pet in her new home; if you do have another pet, a VERY slow introduction will be required to set her up for success- Doesn't mind having her tummy rubbed, but will let you know when she has had enough- Looking for a committed adopter who will help her lose some weight- Enjoys being brushed and will benefit from an adopter who will be devoted to brushing her and keeping her looking her best! All adoptable cats and kittens are spayed/neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations (rabies and FVRCP as appropriate for their age) Primary Color: Tabby Weight: 18.93 Age: 7yrs 4mths 0wks

HOW TO ADOPT: This cat is participating in our Shelter Cat Getaway foster program, which gives cats a vacation from the shelter and lets them enjoy home life while they wait to be adopted. To schedule a time to meet this cat, please contact Mary at mmccarroll@arl-iowa.org ---- Very sweet cat who welcomes attention and wants to be near her humans- Will cuddle up close to you when you sleep- She likes to look out the window to see what is happening outdoors- Her purr is very soft and will start almost the instant you start petting her- Is not a fan of other cats, and will be happiest as your one and only- Young, busy children will likely be too much for her, so she is looking for a more mature home that is calmer - Will be a wonderful friend for a calm, patient person who loves the quiet life just like she does- She will likely be shy when you first bring her home, and will need to be set up in her own quiet room at first, and then gradually allowed to explore the rest of her home at her own pace- She is a cat who will bond closely with her humans, and will be a devoted friend for lifeThis cat can be fearful and may need extra time to adjust to a new home. We've seen good progress here at the ARL, but don't be surprised if it takes several weeks for this cat to become comfortable in a new place. This cat may hide and just observe at first - maybe for quite a while - and that is perfectly normal. Young children are too much for this cat right now, so we are highly recommending a quiet, mature home. We are happy to provide post-adoption resources. If you can give this cat extra time, patience and TLC, please consider adopting! It will be so rewarding to watch them gain confidence and start enjoying all the good things in life! This pet is considered to be in their senior years and may enjoy calmer activities and environments. They may also have medical or behavior needs related to their age. Story
This cat is participating in our Camp Purr working cat program, which is designed for feral or semi-feral cats that would be happiest living outside as working cats. Adopters must provide shelter and food/water to these cats year round and need to be willing to work with our Camp Purr team to ensure these cats are acclimated appropriately and humanely to their new environment. Because these cats are familiar with the other cats they are living with currently, we require that all Camp Purr cats be adopted with at least one other Camp Purr cat. The adoption fee for each cat in this program is just $25, and all cats have been spayed/neutered, microchipped and vaccinated. HOW TO ADOPT: These cats are available by appointment only to ensure our team has adequate time to assist you. To get started, please answer a few questions here and a Camp Purr Counselor will email you soon. Primary Color: Brown Tabby Weight: 9.44 Age: 1yrs 0mths 1wks
