Story
My name is George, I am 2 years old, neutered, and FIV+. This just means I need to stay indoors and get regular vet care. I can still live a long, happy life — even with other friendly cats, as long as we get along! I am as fun and energetic as any other cat. I love following people around; you will never be lonely again with me in the house. I love to play and need lots of exercise throughout the day. I love to snuggle. I make cute silly snore noises! This happens when I focus really hard, or am about to fall asleep. I also have a special skill to offer: I will personally test all of your food for poison, this includes any meals, drinks, plants, and any plate you leave out! Before I moved to a foster home, I joined Ames Animal Shelter through their Third Chance program on November 6, 2025.I was the longest resident at my last shelter I have never stopped believing my special person is out there. I`m a calm, friendly guy with a big heart who`s ready to start a new chapter.Being FIV positive, I wanted to leave you with a resource to read more about me: The Best Friends Animal Society has a great page about adopting an FIV positive cat that you can see at https://resources.bestfriends.org/article/fiv-cats-faqs-feline-immunodeficiency-virus If you’re looking for a loyal companion who’s been waiting patiently for his chance, I’d love to meet you. Come visit me at Ames Animal Shelter — I might just be your new best friend!

Story
Staff would describe my personality as: Chill and easy going! With other cats I am: Good! With dogs I am: Unknown but given my laid back attitude he would be good with a calmer dogWith children I am: Good! I have the following special needs: None! All cats are tested for Feline Leukemia and Feline Immunodeficiency Virus, and cats over 6 months of age are tested for heartworms. They are also tested for intestinal parasites and receive routine dewormings. Cats are vaccinated against distemper and rabies, receive a flea preventative, are spayed/neutered before adoption, and have a microchip. Adoption fees include the initial automated registration of the microchip at the time of adoption.

Story
My name is Kenickie and I am the zoomies master, and I am constantly running around, playing, and making life more entertaining. I love to play “peek a boo”, sneak around, and surprise you with my silly kitten energy. Even though I am very playful, I also love to snuggle up next to you, steal your warmth, and settle in when I am ready for a break. Since I love warmth, you can usually find me laying somewhere in a sunny spot! I am not a picky eater and especially love wet treats. I prefer toys that I can roll around, chase, and kick with my back feet. Don’t be mistaken though, I love to chase too! I have loved other cats and enjoy trying to sneak up on them too, so I may do well with another playful feline friend. I have not been tested with dogs and use the litter box well.

Spayed or Neutered,
Story
My name is Perseia and I am a brown tabby domestic shorthair. I am a spayed female and I am 1 year and 3 months old. I am at the shelter because I was found as a stray on 12/11/2025. I am a good kitty who uses the litterbox! I am a medium energy cat and I can live with an owner with no prior pet owning experience. I do not have a history of trying to escape the home, but the shelter staff always recommends owners be mindful that I do not accidentally sneak out on their way out the door. I can be good with men, women, and children. I can be good with dogs and I can be good with other cats.
