Story
Meatball is a friendly, playful guy who is about a year and half old. He is Fiv+, but he`s not aggressive, so he is safe to mix with other cats. He is currently in a temporary home with two older cats who are not into playing, much to Meatball`s dismay. If you have a playful kitty who needs a playmate, consider Meatball! He also gets along with small children. He is vaccinated, neutered, and microchipped. He has had flea prevention and dewormer. The adult cat adoption fee is $50. If you are interested in meeting this adorable guy, please complete the cat adoption form and we will set up a time for you to meet him.Application: https://safehomerescue.org/how-to-adopt/cat-adoption-form/

Story
Don`t let Chanel`s fancy name and Turkish Van appearance fool you - her life so far has been far from royalty. She found herself thrown outside in the middle of winter by a human who let her down. She had to learn how to survive on the streets. She became pregnant but luckily ended up in a foster home after a caring neighbor made some calls. She raised 6 beautiful kittens and now she is looking for a home of her own. Chanel still has so much kitten energy and some anxiety-rightfully so. She will need a patient home that will take the time to teach her that hands are not chew toys. Chanel loves lap time and playtime, but because of her life experiences, she can play very rough. Chanel may do ok with another pet after a slow introduction, but she is a dominant kitty. She would do great on her own as well. We are looking for someone to give her a second chance at life. She has been spayed and had preventive dewormer, flea preventive, FVRCP and rabies vaccines, and she is microchipped. If you are interested in meeting this adorable young lady, please complete the cat adoption form on our website https://safehomerescue.org/how-to-adopt/cat-adoption-form/. The adult cat adoption fee is $50.

Story
Iowa Cat wants a real home.Message Agape Fosters page if interested in this big guy.Pappy approx 7 years old is off the mean streets of Waterloo after living off the land for years. He was worn for wear but looks much better now. He’s been fully vetted, incl tested and neutered. He’s rather dog like but doesn’t like dogs. He may do ok with a confident female cat or kittens as he helped take care of his offspring. His 4 kittens were also fixed and adopted out. He’d love a real home or even a foster/temporary home.

Story
Meet Charlie! He is a great companion cat who has proven to be social with other cats, very patient with toddlers, slightly chatty and is looking for his forever home. Charlie has handsome white markings on his face, paws and belly. He spent his first few years as an outdoor cat before he was trapped in Spring 2024. He has been neutered, vetted and had some large canine (coyote?) bite wounds to the face that have recovered fully. Charlie has been house trained and is happy to part of the family or household.

HOW TO ADOPT: This cat is available for adoption by appointment. To schedule a time to meet this cat, please email meetme@arl-iowa.org.---- Arrived at the ARL undersocialized and has made great progress in a foster home; looking for a patient family who will give him time to settle in and help him continue to gain confidence- Likes to play with soft ball toys and scratching posts, rest in high places and look out windows - Takes some time to warm up but is loving once he does and enjoys pets, although he'd prefer if you steer clear of his belly - Likes wet food and dry snacks as treats - Not super comfortable with being picked up right now, so his new family may need to work with him gradually on that - Still easily startled, so a calm predictable home may be best for him - Has been fine with small dogs in his foster home - Likes to play with other cats in his foster home All adoptable cats and kittens are spayed/neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations (rabies and FVRCP as appropriate for their age) Primary Color: Brown Tiger Secondary Color: White Age: 1yrs 1mths 2wks

Story
HOW TO ADOPT: This cat is participating in our Shelter Cat Getaway foster program, which gives cats a vacation from the shelter and lets them enjoy home life while they wait to be adopted. To schedule a time to meet this cat, please contact Mary at mmccarroll@arl-iowa.org ---- Very sweet and shy kitty- A gentle, sweet cat who is very motivated by food - that is the way to her heart- Enjoys playing with string toys- Will thrive as the only cat in her new home- Children are not a good fit for her, so she is looking for a more mature home- Will thrive as the only cat in her new home, but if you do have another cat, it will need be a cat who will be a laid-back companion for her, and not in her face- Looking for a home with patient family members who will give her time to open up and let her take things at her own pace. She does best when she starts out in her own room and is slowly introduced to the rest of the house and other pets over a few weeks- Has a lot of love to give and will be a wonderful companion for a quiet person or two who will allow her to settle in at her own slow pace. Please plan on giving her plenty of time in her new home. She is worth the wait! - Will be a terrific friend for a calm, patient person who loves the quiet life just like she does- Was very fearful when she arrived at the shelter, but she has been coming out of her shell and is a total sweetheart with the people she feels comfortable with- This cat can be fearful and may need extra time to adjust to a new home. We've seen good progress here at the ARL, but don't be surprised if it takes several weeks for this cat to become comfortable in a new place. This cat may hide and just observe at first - maybe for quite a while - and that is perfectly normal. Young children are too much for this cat right now, so we are highly recommending a quiet, mature home. We are happy to provide post-adoption resources. If you can give this cat extra time, patience, and TLC, please consider adopting! It will be so rewarding to watch them gain confidence and start enjoying all the good things in life! All adoptable cats and kittens are spayed/neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations (rabies and FVRCP as appropriate for their age) Primary Color: Tortoiseshell Weight: 6.65 Age: 2yrs 11mths 1wks
