Story
Meet Slinky — The Independent, Intelligent Hunter With a Heart of Gold Slinky is a sleek, expressive boy with a big personality and an even bigger desire for the right human. He’s confident, curious, and incredibly smart — a cat who knows exactly who he is and thrives when his environment matches his needs. Personality & Temperament Slinky is a cat with strong instincts and a bold spirit. Because he spent about a year as a stray, he still has a “survival mode” edge to his play — which looks more like hunting than gentle batting. This makes him best suited for a home without other cats and without children. He is: Friendly with strangers Active and alert Independent but affectionate on his own terms Prone to separation anxiety when left alone too long A cat who bonds deeply once he trusts you Slinky isn’t a “pet me all day” cat — he enjoys affection, but only when he decides it’s time. His future person should appreciate a cat with boundaries and personality. Ideal Home Slinky needs a home that is: Onlycat (vetrecommended by two veterinarians) Quiet, stable, and predictable With someone who works from home, is retired, or rarely travels Adults only — no children Catsavvy and mindful of his needs His new home must also be stringsafe. Slinky will eat string if he sees it move, so his adopter must keep: No feather wands left out No long strings, ribbons, or cords accessible No loose craft supplies or dangling toys This is essential for his safety. Daily Life With Slinky Slinky is a fascinating companion. He loves: Watching the world from windows Exploring his environment Engaging in structured play that satisfies his hunting drive Being near his person, especially if they’re home most of the day He may follow you around, sit nearby, or quietly observe — he’s the kind of cat who enjoys companionship without needing constant touch. Why You’ll Love Him Slinky is the perfect match for someone who appreciates a cat with depth, intelligence, and independence. He’s expressive, loyal in his own way, and endlessly interesting to live with. Once he trusts you, he becomes a steady, comforting presence who simply wants to be near his person. He doesn’t need a busy home — he needs the right home. And when he finds it, he will settle in beautifully. The suggested adoption donation for Slinky is $85, which includes a lifetime of free relationship-based training for any behavioral problems (not obedience training). Muddy Paws is a 501c3 non-profit organization meaning that part of your donation MAY be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. We are a 100% volunteer rescue committed to giving animals a second chance at life. All donations go toward that mission. Adoption fees are the primary source of funding for the cost of veterinary care for our animals. In 2022 alone, we provided animal Healthcare totaling over $399,000 covered mainly through adoption fees.Information about the adoption process: All adoptions require a completed ADOPTION APPLICATION. Once your application has completed our prescreen steps, we will put you in touch with the animal’s foster to see if you and the pet are a good match. If so, we will arrange a meeting for you and the animal. The adoptions for all of our animals will take place in the Omaha, NE area and must be done by the adoptive family in person. We do not ship or deliver. Please Note: We are a RESCUE, which is different from a shelter. We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks, and a Home Visit (Virtual in some cases) during the application approval process. We always select the right applicant for each animal, based on the animal’s needs. If you and the animal are not a good match, we will help you select another animal, or we will keep your approved application on file for 6 months. To learn about Muddy Paws Last Chance Rescue or donate to our animals, please visit our website at MuddyPawsSecondChanceRescue.com or our Facebook Page Muddy Paws Second Chance Rescue Inc.Please Note: A Courtesy Post designates that an animal is still in the home of its owner and not in a Muddy Paws foster. This means that our exposure to the animal is limited since we only assist the owner in finding a new home for theirpet. From time to time, owners find a new furever home for their pets outside of Muddy Paws Last Chance Rescue, and there is a delay in removing them from our site. We apologize if the Courtesy Post you apply to adopt is unavailable for adoption. ##2765908##
