Story
Chino is a 9 month old calico kitty adopted from the shelter this past November. She is incredibly playful, cuddly, and has a beautiful coat. She’s truly a princess and a mama’s girl. Unfortunately, I don’t have time or the space to give her what she deserves and wants. Chino needs a home with lots of space (possibly indoor/outdoor), and someone who can give her the amount of attention she needs. She does very well with the other cat in the apartment, and tolerates the dog fine. She’s never been around young children, but given her friendly nature, it would more than likely work just fine.

Story
Spicey was born out of our cat colony. She was outside in an enclosed catio when she was born, then when it started to get cold we brought her in the house. She’s super sweet and gets along with a dog and all the other cats in the home. (We have 4 that we are rehoming due to 2 colony cats getting pregnant before we were able to catch and release them). Litter box trained. We hate to rehome them but 7 cats in the home is a lot.

Marilyn is a kitten from our cat colony. She’s been in an outdoor catio until the weather got cold then we brought her inside. She’s so sweet, chatty and loves humans and fur friends! We hate to rehome her but 7 cats in the home is a lot and my living arrangements changed. We have a total of 4 that we need to rehome. She is an indoor cat with an ear notch.

HOW TO ADOPT: This cat is participating in our Shelter Cat Getaway foster program, which gives cats a vacation from the shelter and lets them enjoy home life while they wait to be adopted. To schedule a time to meet this cat, please contact Mary at mmccarroll@arl-iowa.org or Carol at cgriglione@arl-iowa.org.---- Shy girl who may take some time to trust, but she has begun to open up in her foster home and is expanding her comfort zone - Now that she is comfortable with her foster mom, she loves getting pets and scritches; her previous owner said she was a lap cat, and that may come in time, but for now she is enjoying the freedom of having her own space- Prefers to be handled gently and approached slowly, so a calm, quiet home with mature family members would be perfect for her; seems like a cat who may tend to bond closely with one or two people - Loves looking out windows and has been gradually exploring her foster home - Loves catnip infused toys!- Has lived with other cats, and may do OK with a new cat, but may also be perfectly happy being an only kitty. She definately prefers male cats and will be happiest with a male cat in her new home. A slow cat intro is recommended - Please plan on starting her in one room of your home and giving her quite a bit of time to become comfortable with that area and with you before allowing her access to larger areas of the home; this process will help set her up for success by not overwhelming her - Looking for a patient family who is willing to give her extra time - maybe several weeks - to come out of her shell; she may hide and just observe at first, but it will be rewarding to watch her gradually settle in, make herself at home and start enjoying life with you Primary Color: Brown Tabby Secondary Color: White Weight: 8.4 Age: 10yrs 11mths 0wks

To schedule a time to meet this cat, please contact Mary at mmccarroll@arl-iowa.org or Carol at cgriglione@arl-iowa.org. ---- Has done well with other cats, and will likely enjoy a cat friend in her new home- Is doing okay with a dog in her foster home as long as it doesn't bother her and gives her space- Young children are way too much for her right now, so she's looking for a mature home- Enjoys treats and canned food, and that may be a nice way to earn her trust and bond with her- Likes to spend time cuddled up sleeping in her fuzzy kitty hut or a cat condo- She loves playing with toys by herself, and her foster mom has caught her many times when she thinks nobody is watching!- Enjoys a daily brushing and will allow some light petting- Very curious kitty, and will want to explore every inch of her new home, once she settles in- Looking for a home with patient family members who will give her time to open up and let her take things at her own pace- Is not a snuggly lapcat - she's very independent, and will be a terrific cat for someone looking for a cat as a companion to love and care forThis cat can be fearful and may need extra time to adjust to a new home. We've seen good progress here at the ARL, but don't be surprised if it takes several weeks for this cat to become comfortable in a new place. This cat may hide and just observe at first - maybe for quite a while - and that is perfectly normal. Young children are too much for this cat right now, so we are highly recommending a quiet, mature home. We are happy to provide post-adoption resources. If you can give this cat extra time, patience and TLC, please consider adopting! It will be so rewarding to watch them gain confidence and start enjoying all the good things in life!
