Hello, my name is Water Chestnut. Yes, like the crunchy little veggie. I may be small, but I’ve got layers. I wasn’t born into an easy life. I came from a farm and was born to a feral mama, which meant people felt pretty big and scary at first. When I arrived, I wasn’t so sure about this whole “human friendship” thing. But guess what? I’ve been learning. And wow… have I come a long way. These days, I’ve discovered something wonderful: being loved is actually pretty amazing. I’ve learned that gentle hands can mean chin scratches, cozy naps, and those magical squeeze treats that I take very, very seriously. If you bring snacks, we are already off to a strong start. I’m still a sensitive girl at heart, though. Big changes and busy homes can feel overwhelming for me, so I’m hoping to find a quiet home with patient people who understand that trust is something special that grows over time. I promise, I’m worth the wait. There is one little thing you should know about me. I was born with a slight birth defect affecting my ribcage. MEET SWEET ZIPPED Sweet Zipped was found wandering around a campground, trying to crawl into tents with campers. She was scared, confused and desperately searching for someone who would let her feel safe. She was likely abandoned, and as she wandered from tent to tent, she was sometimes barked at by dogs and sometimes yelled at by people. But Sweet Zipped kept searching. She wasn't looking for much. She just wanted someone to let her curl up in a sleeping bag and be safe. Eventually, she found exactly the person she needed. A kind camper offered her a snack and invited her inside their tent. For the first time in who knows how long, Sweet Zipped could finally relax. She purred and purred all night long. The next morning, thankfully, her kind new friend couldn't bring themselves to leave her behind. They brought her to us, and now Sweet Zipped never has to wonder where she belongs again. Sweet Zipped is a gorgeous girl with an unusual steel-gray and silvery tuxedo coat. Her large, clear eyes are a beautiful yellow-green and give her an especially striking expression. Chuckie is such a sweet gentle boy who wants love so much but is very shy. He’s working hard on building his confidence in his foster home but he still gets overwhelmed easily, so his ideal home is calm and quiet with lots of patience. He likes to observe from under the furniture and come out to get attention and play when it’s quiet. He loves people even though he’s nervous about the world, so he’s not the type to hide until no one’s around, he just usually prefers when they’re staying still instead of walking around. Then when everything is calm, he comes when called, pops out asking for treats and pets, begs you to scratch his face until he drools, curls up at your feet making biscuits, and gets the zoomies and runs laps playing around you. He’s slowly getting more comfortable jumping up on the couch with you too, but he’s still working on that one. He gets along with other cats, but a good personality fit is important because this sweet timid boy doesn’t know how to stand up for himself and does best with cats who don’t take advantage of that. He’s easily intimidated and stressed by grumpy cats, but does great with fellow nervous cats and more laidback ones. He’s also good friends with a very outgoing cat in his foster home who has helped him come out of his shell and they love to play together, but Chuckie can get a bit overwhelmed by his friend’s confidence and sometimes will let himself get pushed aside for attention and treats. He's also food motivated and especially loves tube treats, so he usually gets extra brave for those no matter what. Chuckie is the sweetest gentlest lovebug and is looking for someone quiet and patient who’s willing to earn his trust and keep building his confidence.
