Story
MEET OLIVER!Oliver is a 4 year old jokester with SO MUCH to say! Oliver has the funniest monotone meow - think Gary from Spongebob, but even cuter because he is genuinely excited to talk to you. He also is kind of a neat freak and will groom our staff and volunteers almost as if to say `When was the last time you showered? You smell like an animal shelter!` Thanks, Oliver...Oli is a pretty laid back and chill guy who enjoys playing for a little, but would much prefer to patrol the premises and make sure everything is tidy and where it`s supposed to be. He isn`t really the clingy type - though he loves attention, getting scratched, and casual conversation, Oliver has a job to do and it is something he takes very seriously. He WILL however give you kisses right on your lips if you allow him (and yes... we do.) His love language is keeping the household together through vigilant security and moderated affection - come on, what more could you ask for?We do suspect that Oliver has hyperesthesia, which could be triggered by stress. We started him on a course of medicine once a day, which he happily takes in his food, and it`s been smooth sailing since with no issues! Although Oliver is FIV+, he can live a happy, healthy, normal life as long as he is kept indoors only and stays up to date with his vet, just like any other kitty!Oliver is neutered and up to date on vaccines and prevention. If you`re looking for someone who would love to bring some comfort and order to your life, you`ll have to meet Oliver!Complete an adoption survey at https://www.cognitoforms.com/YorkCountyAnimalControl/petadoptionsurvey. All Adoptions require a Pre-Adoption Interview with a YCAS Adoption Counselor, a meet and greet, and adoption approval. Every adoptable cat is Spayed or Neutered, implanted with a microchip, current on age appropriate vaccinations including a current 1 year Rabies Vaccination, and current on monthly Flea/tick prevention. All pets are behaviorally and medically evaluated prior to being placed up for adoption. The adoption fee is $77.

MEET IRENE!Irene embodies elegance and grace. Our 2-year-old tiny tortie was brought to the shelter along with her kittens and she quickly stole our hearts! Irene has shown us nothing but gentle kindness and a whole lotta love! She loves to be held and cuddled, burrowing deep into your arms for maximum snuggles. She is a total lap cat and would be perfectly content to snooze on top of you all day!Irene is a non-confrontational girl and tested well with other cat friendly kitties, as long as they were respectful of her space and didn’t try to smother her. When it comes to people, however, Irene would LOVE to be coddled and hugged! If you’re hoping to find a Velcro kitty that wants nothing more than your love and attention, Irene might be just the one for you! Irene is up to date on vaccines, spayed, microchipped, current on prevention, and negative for FIV/FeLV.Complete an online application and get pre-approved to adopt at https://www.cognitoforms.com/YorkCountyAnimalControl/PetAdoptionSurvey. Story
MEET SHORESY!We don`t want to sound braggy but Shoresy is the sweetest cat ever. Seriously. This guy will give you a cavity before you can book an appointment with your dentist. Which is ironic because Shores has had some dental work done himself and has an adorable lopsided smile to prove it. Because of this, Shoresy is on a solely wet food diet and he is loving every minute of it! He will happily drool the second he sees you coming with his food bowl – funny enough, this is one of the few times a day you’ll see Shoresy hyperactive.Shoresy is the sensitive type – the kind of adult (4 years old, to be exact) that would still call their mom every day just to check in. The kind of guy who would hold the door open for everyone, no matter how many people are walking through or how far behind schedule it puts him. If he had thumbs, every staff member and volunteer at the shelter would have a love letter written and signed with a heart from Shoresy. He would apologize to you if you stepped on his paw. True love isn’t dead – it’s just in the form of an adorable cuddly cow print kitty with the softest meow.Though Shoresy is FIV+, he is very cat friendly and non-confrontational. If another cat is picking on him, he moves on and doesn’t engage – he’s a pacifist and doesn’t stoop down to their level. Shoresy has to be in an indoor only home and can live a normal healthy life like any other kitty. He can coexist perfectly with other cat friendly kitties, whether they are FIV positive or not! He is fully vaccinated, neutered, and up to date on prevention.Complete an adoption survey at https://www.cognitoforms.com/YorkCountyAnimalControl/petadoptionsurvey. Milo sounds like a grumpy old man when he meows. He will love you like no other. He does like to do his own thing and be left alone at times and should be a one cat person. While he gets along with other cats, he will sometimes get slap happy.

Story
MEET DORIS!Doris is a dainty angel looking for a low-key home where she can live her most relaxing life! 3 year old Doris is such a gentle and sweet little lady that loves naps, head rubs, and a good scratching post. This little biscuit maker is happiest when she is either snuggled up on a comfy blanket or exploring the heights of a cat tower. She is super polite, well mannered, and enjoys company, but she also has her independent side that isn`t very demanding. If she has a few toys to bat at and a comfy place to lay, Doris is as happy as can be!While Doris hasn`t been obsessed with the kitties she has met at the shelter, she is non-confrontational and just doesn`t want them all over her. We think she would do great as a single kitty, but would also integrate into a home with other cats that value peace and harmony as much as she does.Doris is spayed, up to date on shots, current on prevention, and FIV/FeLV negative. All she needs is a home of her own!Complete an adoption survey at https://www.cognitoforms.com/YorkCountyAnimalControl/petadoptionsurvey. Story
MEET FREDThis wide-eyed little guy is 3 year old Fred! Fred is stoic, calm, and absolutely iconic. The stare and the hilarious nonchalant aloofness he wears on his face daily is already enough to make you laugh, but his personality is the real clincher. Fred is the guy who was invited to the party, felt obligated to attend, but then immediately regretted it and wanted to go home. He is the kind of cat that walks into a room and realizes he has no idea why he went there in the first place, so he just stands awkwardly and looks around. He`s the cool guy in school that everyone gravitates to, but he could care less about them and wonders why everyone is talking to him. What is EVEN funnier is that Fred doesn`t mind other cats, but other cats LOVE Fred. It got to the point where we had to move his neighboring cats away from him because they kept opening their connecting doors to hang out with him. We can`t really find an explanation for this other than the fact that he just has the kind of personality where you want to be around him all the time. I mean, we feel the same, but Fred doesn`t care how popular he is... In fact, Fred doesn`t care about much, and that`s why we love him.Fred is neutered, up to date on vaccines, current on prevention, and FIV/FeLV negative. If you`d like a best friend that is happy just to exist with you, Fred will be the best roommate you ever had!Complete an adoption survey at https://www.cognitoforms.com/YorkCountyAnimalControl/petadoptionsurvey.
