Story
Bear is a two year old, 78 lb Catahoula mix, but breed mix is just our best guess. Bear's name fits him perfectly. He looks like a bear, acts silly like Yogi Bear, and is sweet and cuddly like a Teddy Bear. He is a regular visitor at Camp BowWow and loves playing with the other dogs. Bear is strong like a bear too, so he needs an adopter who can handle him on leash. His leash manners have improved a lot, and walking him on a harness is a must. Bear is potty and crate trained. He would love to sleep in bed with his people but is content to sleep on a soft dog bed in their room. We are recommending no kids under the age of 6, just due to Bear's size and strength. The first step to meeting Bear is to submit your application, and one of our adoption counselors will contact you.

Story
Hello! Nice to meet you! My name is Latte; I’m a 5 year-old Catahoula mix, weighing about 100 pounds. I’m pretty true to my breed: sweet, intelligent, loyal and don't really like negotiating too much. I need exercise and stimulation - but once I get that I am a couch potato just wanting to be around my people. I love car rides (especially going to Starbucks and getting puppuccinos) ! I love long walks where I can explore (I'm not a huge fan of buses and Amazon trucks but I am working on that). My real favorites, however, are treats, belly rubs, and hugs. I'll even show you a few tricks (I know how to sit and shake) if you give me a treat! I walk with my dog friends all the time with no issues, but I love my people so much that I prefer to be the only pet in the home.  My trainer (yep… I’ve got a pro trainer!) says since I am a confident dog, and small quick movements don't scare me I would be great around kids! I would always like a meet and greet first of course. I’d like to be with someone experienced with my breed, and willing to give me a bit of time to let me show them just how great of a dog I really am! I just need to settle in, adjust and get to know and trust you -  but once I do… I’ll give you SO much love. Please give me that chance! I’m working hard in my training to be the best dog I can be for you. My trainer said that, as part of the training program, he’ll even continue to work with my forever family at no cost (as long as you live in the DFW area). He loves and trusts me that much!  I can't wait to meet you! If you feel your home might be the right place for this VERY good girl, start with the adoption application found at www.dfwrescueme.org/adopt.  Once submitted, the foster will contact you to tell you more, and to arrange a meeting! The adoption fee for all of our dogs is $250.00, which includes vaccinations and spay/neuter. Latte is participating in the DFW Rescue Me Guest Dog Program, so custody and ongoing care are provided by the foster, not by DFWRM.October 14, 2024, 10:13 pm

We are dedicated to rescuing dogs in shelters, dogs in abusive or neglectful situations, and dogs surrendered by their owners because of difficult circumstances. We place dogs in loving, responsible, committed permanent homes, following a comprehensive adoption process, which includes taking considerable care in finding good matches and educating prospective adopters about the responsibilities and costs of bringing a dog into their homes and lives. Dogs in our care are spayed or neutered, microchipped, receive all appropriate veterinary care and treatment, and placed in nurturing foster homes while they await placement in their permanent homes. We assist dogs in distress without regard to age, breed or ease of placement. Dogs in the greatest need take priority. Finally, we strive to work with shelters and other rescue and humane organizations to develop a network of supporters and volunteers in order to create a better world for homeless dogs. ##950302##

Story
Freckles is a goofy and affectionate dog who loves to play and loves butt scratches! Due to changes in work schedule, I can no longer give him the time and attention he needs. Freckles is protective of his home and people and likes to stay alert to any going ons - he's also nosy and likes to be where the action is. He's a companion who likes to sit on your feet, cuddle on the couch, and follow you around. As a mix of two working breeds, he needs a home that can keep him active and exercise him daily. His favorite games are tug of war, throw stick (no give, only throw), and scent-based hide and seek. He’s a quick learner and picks up commands easily - so far he knows sit, paw/shake (left and right), spin, guard, down, place, and crate. Freckles comes with toys, dog beds, a crate, collar, leash, harness, and several other pet supplies.

Story
Meet Nora, a delightful 5-year-old pit bull with a heart full of love and a zest for life! This charming girl adores snuggling up close and soaking up all the affection she can get. Nora absolutley loves the water whether it's a bathtub, pool, or a small splashing pad. Her playful spirit shines when she plays fetch with you and returns her favorite toys, always ready to impress with her "drop" command. She's also a quick learner who already knows how to sit and is eager to master new tricks.   This sweet soul is on a quest to find her forever home to share her boundless love. Due to her gentle nature, Nora would thrive best in a home without small children, as she can be easily startled. Imagine Nora by your side, her tail wagging with happiness as she cuddles up for belly rubs and endless affection. Nora is a polite and loving companion, waiting patiently for the perfect family to welcome her into their hearts and home. Are you ready to give Nora the forever home she deserves? ##2283475##

Story
Boomer was born in a rescue with 9 other siblings April 18, 2015 and in June I spotted him at an adoption event at a PetSmart. He was the only puppy out of his siblings there with out a collar and had the sweetest face. He and I were connected then. After he was neutered and had all his shots, he came home at the beginning of July that year. He will be 10 years old here soon. I'm now a single mom and need to move to an apartment, which will not be the best environment for my pup. He would enjoy a best friend that could take him on a daily walk and play Hide and Seek the treat around the house. He's highly food motivated. He is potty trained and lived inside his whole life. He will let you know when he needs outside. Maybe good for a single home or family with older children. He gets nervous with young children in his space. He's a coonhound so can be vocal. Is used to mostly free reign in the home and gets vocal when separate from the pack. He does have allergies and takes medication.

Story
I adopted Sweetpea in April of 2018. She was the sweetest dog when I met her, hence the name: Sweetpea. I'm now a single mom and need to move to an apartment, which will not be the best environment for Sweetpea. She would love to be in a family that she can be active and engaged with all the time. She does great with all ages, even lils. She doesn't like to be away from her pack. She's highly food motivated. She is potty trained and lives inside. She will let you know when she needs outside and best to have a good yard as she does enjoy getting out in the yard to play, sniff, and bark. She's also a great alarm system when she hears outside activity. She can be a lil skittish with strangers, but likes to slowly sniff out the new friend. She is scared during storms and fireworks.
