Story
COURTESY POST: Hello everyone! My name is Annie (short for Anakin)! I’m a super happy, upbeat, loving, 60-pound, approximately 2 year old female Catahoula Leopard Dog Mix. I’m an amazing dog that LOVES kids, other dogs and spending time with people. I’m very strong and may look intimidating, but I just want a belly rub, time playing with my toys and taking naps in your lap. My favorite games are Tug-of-War and Hide & Go Seek. I love playing Hide & Go Seek because when I find you, I’m truly thrilled and I can cover you with slobbery kisses. Afterwards, we can play again! Also, one of my favorite pastimes is to jump on the trampoline with my person. I love to have fun with everyone! Some important details about my health: I have all my shots, I’m spayed and I’m in good health. Furthermore, I am potty-trained, crate-trained and very food-motivated! Unfortunately, my life was not filled with too much joy in my early months. I had puppies, but tragically, they were taken away from me a few days after they were born. Also, I was kicked out of my home and had to find refuge in the cold, dark streets right after I had just given birth. When I was found, I was very thin, scared and sad. Nevertheless, I’m doing much better now and I can’t wait to find a new home! I hope you can consider adopting me because all I want to do is love, be loved and play together! If you adopt me, we will be best friends forever! We are a RESCUE GROUP, not a shelter, and all of our animals are in foster homes. To start the adoption process, email us at adoptions@earstexas.org requesting an application. Submitting an application does not commit you in any way, but helps us make the best match between people and our available dogs. Your current or past dogs must be inside dogs who have been spayed/neutered and are on heartworm prevention. All of the dogs in our program are inside dogs and are completely vetted including all vaccinations, spayed/neutered, free of internal parasites, microchipped, heartworm negative and on prevention before adoption. Our adoption process includes an application, check of vet records or personal references, interview, neutral site meet & greet with the dog and your family, and a home visit.

Story
Introducing Gus & Junie This sweet pair was discovered on the side of a country highway. A 3rd dog was deceased in the ditch. They wouldn't leave her side.😔 A good samaritan noticed them at the same location two days in a row. She continued to visit them & feed them in that same location every day for a week while reaching out to rescues for help. That's where we came in.. the pups were moved to a loving foster home. They've been so grateful & loving. More about them: "Gus is a big lovebug who would climb into your lap if he could. He loves any kind of attention & he loves to play & tumble. He's learned a few commands. He's extremely smart & he's the first one to upstage the other dogs by learning the fastest. He does great with treat rewards. He'll often greet me by standing on his hind legs, putting his paws on my shoulders for a snuggle. He gets along playfully with other dogs, but does get a bit jealous & will give a little growl if they crowd him. He's doing so much better about standing back if I tell him to. He's still too eager to make friends with cats.. so no cat friends for him for now. He very much wants to please. It's obvious how grateful he is to have the constant love & attention he didn't have before being rescued.❤️‍🩹" "Junie is so sweet & kind. She's still very shy unless the other dogs are barking out greetings & she'll join in. She loves any attention & she flips over to show her belly for rubs every time we walk by her. She loves other dogs & she's just so excited every morning to see everyone. She's ok with cats if they're introduced slowly. She likes to sleep in a crate with an open door, but mostly just wants to be by us. She loves to run & play & swim in the pond next door!💦 She needs playtime, but she's calm just hanging out too. She's learned sit & stay. Junie is a joy to be with." 💞Gus & Junie are about a year old & they can be adopted separately or as a pair. Furever Home Pet Rescue 615-540-8448 bemyforeverhome.org

Story
Ellie is a wonderful, beautiful and very smart dog. She gets along with other dogs very well, but can be a handful around smaller dogs. She does not know here own size, but dogs her size are just fine. She does not have a bad bone in her body. She loves chewing on her kong, earning her treats. She is leash trained and knows several hand signals. We are still working with her on checking in regularly. She has not been around kids, but cannot imagine that will be an issue with her temperament. Ellie is deaf and has received professional training from On the Ball K9 Training in Denton, TX. She will stay on your side but can get distracted. She will sit and stay when told and is pretty content on her "place" as long as she has some entertainment. She is crate trained and sleeps in a crate. Her favorite activity is going on long walks, but even more, she will play fetch with you until she absolutely wears herself out. And then, once you think she has had enough, she is ready for some more. She loves fetching tennis balls and ropes throws...and will bring them back to you almost all of the time, unless she gets distracted. She will then sit when you tell her and release the toy for another round. Ellie was born mid-2015 and weighs approx 90 pounds. ##628903##

Apollo needs a new home before he lands in a crowded shelter. His owner contacted us to help him. He is a Catahoula/Lab mix Apollo is about a year old and is an adorable, fun, active, playful dog So after much thought and discussion we came to the painful decision of rehoming Apollo. He only weighs 45 pounds, and he loves running outside and his favorite thing is to curl up in someone’s lap. He is potty trained, crate trained and knows many commands already (sit, stay, lay down, up, away, go to bed, get down, come, GO!, & leave it - He is very treat motivated. He would be a great companion for a family with no small children. Applications to foster or adopt Apollo are at codysfriendsrescue.org ##1972275##

Beautiful Billy is one of a kind.  Think dog/acrobat.  He loves scratches just above the base of his tail. He is weirdly flexible and sleeps in all kinds of weird positions (see pics). His bark is more similar to a bloodhound's bay, and he sometimes howls if he hears another dog or sirens. He truly loves all dogs he meets even if they aren't a fan of his. He loves lounging in the sun on a warm day and chasing a ball around the yard. He is cuddly and loving and isn't quite sure of his size when he climbs into your lap (or maybe he is).   ##1994769##

Cleopatra needs a new home through no fault of her own. She is such a sweet girl, 3 yr old Catahoula mix, spayed and utd on shots, house trained and crate trained. She may take a little bit to get used to her new family, but once she does she is so loving and loyal. She’s a great guard dog, and she’s AMAZING with babies and children! She is very high energy, so she needs an active family or a lot of space to run. Cleo would do best in a house with no small animals, and she needs to be the only dog. She will come with vet records and all her stuff. Transport can be provided for up to several hours from DFW. Guest post--Rehoming fee determined by owner.

Mamma Mia! What beautiful blue eyes you have! I am a young lady who has retired from being a mama. My last litter of puppies were the "Starbucks Litter" and they all got good safe homes. Now I need to find a home! The nice man who has been helping me and feeding me is being evicted from his home and cannot take me with him. I am very sad about this but I am ready to go to a new home. I am very affectionate and obedient and I love to learn new things. I am heartworm positive though but I think I can overcome that with help too. Will you be my new parent?

Story
Meet Valen! He is a 2 yr old neutered male Catahoula Leopard Dog that weighs 51 lbs. He came into the Mesquite Animal Shelter on 4/29 as a stray. He is a very handsome boy! Valen's favorite thing to do is to go on walks, having his nose up, taking in all the smells. A calmness comes over him and a bit of a smile can be seen. He enjoys being petted and loved on, and the longer you spend time with him the more he comes to you to seek out attention. He walks well on a leash, takes treats gently and wasn't bothered by other dogs that were barking at him. It's clear to see if he was out of the shelter and in his own loving home, away from all the noise, he would show even more of his wonderful personality. Be sure If you do have another dog in the home please ask the shelter for a dog test. He has a gentle and loving soul as it's clear to see, and would make a great family companion. Having a secured backyard to investigate, then live indoors to cuddle close, watching tv with his loved one is what this boy deserves. Come meet Valen!

Story
Meet Callie! Callie is a four-year-old Rhodesian Ridgeback mix. She is super loyal and loving to her people. She loves to hang out inside with her people but enjoys rolling around in the yard and sunning herself on a pretty day. When her mommy and daddy had a baby, she was a little stressed out by all the chaos and, they knew she would be happier in a home where she did not have babies crying or toddlers invading her space, so she is looking for her forever home. She is currently staying with her grandparents while waiting for a forever family. She is up to date with vaccines, spayed, and has an appointment to be microchipped soon. Her anxiety is well managed with medication. She weighs 90 lbs and has been working on getting to her ideal weight with daily exercise and weight management food. She would love to accompany you on your own wellness journey if you too are looking for daily exercise! Callie LOVES her adult people. She will sit at your feet and hang out with you for hours. When she gets spurts of energy, she invites you to play and will go get toys and sticks you throw for her. She is not a big fan of giving them back to you, but loves the chase. She thrives when she gets her daily walk and would be your best friend if you took her on a neighborhood walk each day. She is super friendly to people and pets out in the neighborhood but needs to make your acquaintance before you come into her space. Her first family had babies and dogs, and she prefers life as the diva, free of children or other pets in the house. Callie is potty trained, and sleeps in her crate. She is the best at walking on a leash and aced her obedience training. She is super smart and learns quickly. She is the type of pup who will take some time to warm up to you, but will be very loyal to her new family. She will thrive in an adult-only household where she can be queen! Callie is so smart and loyal. Apply to adopt Callie today! July 26, 2024, 2:10 pm

Glory is a male Rhodesian Ridgeback mix.  He weighs 55 to 60 lbs and is about 2 years old.  His owenr moved and left him alone in a rental property.  The owner of the property loves animals and didn't want to take him to the shelter so we need to find Glory a forever home.  He is super friendly and loves everyone..  He is housebroken and crate trained and very eager to please. He is very sweet and laid back. He is good with children as well. He is the only dog but wags his tail when he sees dogs and he is submissive. He's such a sweet pup. he is kennel trained and house trained, though he loves it out of the crate..He doesn't destroy anything, unless you give him a stuffy ( stuff animal) and it will snow stuffing. Lol. He great in the car. Loves walks. He also likes chasing thrown tennis balls. He will curl up and be the biggest love bug. He truly is a awesome pup.   He has no known health issues.
