Story
Nugget is around 10 years old but young at heart. Her name was originally Lilly Nugget (named by a teenage girl) but we just call her Nugget or Nug now. She’s been in my husband’s family since she was a puppy but came to live with us when we got married 5 years ago. She’s a very sweet and snuggly girl and is very kind to adults and older kids once she gets to know you. We love her so much but she’s having a really hard time with our toddler. She is always anxious and on edge around him and we don’t want her to live her life in fear. We have another on the way so it will be quite a few years before we have older children. We are hoping to find a calm and loving home for her to grow old in. I know she has a lot of years left in her. Thank you!

Super sweet cuddle buddy! Mostly blind, but loves attention. Can use stairs and doggie door once he learns were they are. Gets along good with other calm dogs, but hyper dogs and puppies move too fast and scare him. Not recommended to live with young kids for the same reason. He is a quiet dog, usually only barking to let you know he wants back inside. Contact his foster mom today to meet this lovable little guy! Foster mom: 601-479-2601

Story
Jimi is a very sharp and active two year old male chihuahua. He sure is a good looking mail. Born April 23, 2023 He was purchased from xxxx@xxxx.x in April 2024. He came with Vaccinations and de-worming . After a month of being in my home, I asked Mona Miller about his reluctance to be held by me. Mona replied, "Jimi was raised by a woman". Well this is somewhat of an issue because I am a single male living alone. I gave him space in order to get him to settle which worked to some extent. I did manage to train him to use a dog door, so he is trained to that extent. I introduced him to my next door neighbor and her daughter. Jimi allowed them to pet him which is a good sign. I feel Jimi will do well living and being trained by a woman. So why am I looking for a new home for him? I plan to relocate to another country in the near future. I think it's Jimi's best interest to stay in the United States at least for now. dog food:

IMPORTANT!! Due to time and staffing constraints, ALL inquiries/questions MUST BE accompanied by your completed Adoption Application (Matchmaking Questionnaire). See above for the link to the form. Any inquiries/questions sent without the completed form will NOT receive a response. Thank You for understanding. Affectionate "special needs" Ginger is 4 years old and in search of a loving home that is as special as she is. Ginger had a rough start in life and for the first year of her puppyhood she was strictly confined in a tiny crate with only a few potty breaks. As a result, she suffers from claustrophobia and is terrified of leashes. Despite all this, Ginger is a loving and friendly girl who likes nothing better than to jump up on your lap for a tummy rub, or sit beside you on the couch watching TV. She also loves sleeping in bed with you. She likes toys and chew bones and running around out in the back yard. Ginger is good with other pets and us perfectly potty trained. She uses the doggie door and never makes a mess. Ginger would be the ideal companion for someone who doesn't take their dog for a walk and just wants a friendly and loving pet to be their best friend. Her adoption fee is $125 and includes her spay and all shots.

Story
Meet Buffy, a 4-year-old, 12 lb chi mix looking for her forever home!   Background: For several days, Buffy and her pal Greta were running around terrified and unable to be caught by concerned neighbors. HARTT stepped in to help trap these girls and they made their way to loving foster homes where they await forever homes. Personality: Buffy is a snuggle pro who loves to relax. She is a laid back and loving girl who can’t get enough of her favorite people. She follows her foster mom all around and loves to lay beside her whenever possible. Overall, she is an easy dog who just wants to find her best friend. Could that be you?  Health: Buffy is up to date on all vaccines, spayed, and microchipped.   Training: Buffy is house-trained, crate-trained, and uses a dog door. She is not leashed trained.  Ideal Home: Buffy would love a home where she isn’t left alone too much. We are unsure how she is around small children. She coexists with other dogs but really loves to be with her people and would prefer not to share. She exhibits jealousy when other dogs seek attention from her people and would do best as the only dog in the home. Since Buffy doesn’t enjoy leash walks, a secure, fenced-in yard is a must to keep her safe.   Adoption Requirements: Buffy’s adoption fee is $350. If you live in the Phoenix metro area and think she could be the right fit for you, please complete an adoption application*: helpadogsmile.org/adoption-application  *Please note that the application is not a commitment to adopt–it is a tool used to help determine if a dog and applicant would make a good match. Applications are forwarded to the foster family for review and follow-up.  November 5, 2024, 8:51 pm

Story
Meet Cosmo, a cute little 3 y/o, 15 lb chi mix.  Background: Cosmo was brought in with two chi friends after being abandoned and forced to live on the streets. They were fed by neighbors for almost a year before we were called to help.   Personality: Cosmo is on the shyer side but opening up more every day in his foster home. He is sweet, calm, and gets along with all people and dogs of all sizes. He loves belly rubs and snuggling on the couch. Health: Cosmo is up to date on all vaccines, neutered, and microchipped. At some point, Cosmo may have been hit by a car, fracturing his leg. He has a little limp now, but the injury is healed and it doesn’t slow him down.   Training: Cosmo is house-trained and crate-trained.  Ideal Home: Cosmo would love a doting family who will care for him the way every dog deserves, inside a comfortable and loving home. Cosmo enjoys the company of other dogs and would enjoy a companion. A secure, fenced-in yard is required to keep him safe.  Adoption Requirements: Cosmo’s adoption fee is $350. If you live in the Phoenix metro area and think he could be the right fit for you, please complete an adoption application*: helpadogsmile.org/adoption-application  *Please note that the application is not a commitment to adopt–it is a tool used to help determine if a dog and applicant would make a good match.
