Story
DOB: 3/16/2022Breed: Chihuahua mix-Neutered Male - 13 lbs.-Microchipped & fully vaccinated-Negative for heartworm & tick-borne diseases, and on a monthly preventativeA little bit about me… Alright everybody, start your engines, because I’m ready to race into your heart! Hi, I’m Rev! I’m a spunky little guy with a big personality and an even bigger love for people. I’ve got lots of energy and a serious soft spot for lap time and donut beds (they’re my pit stop of choice). One of my favorite hobbies is rummaging through the toy bin until I find a favorite. I’m definitely a solo rider when it comes to other dogs. I’m more of a people pup. I’ll need some basic training, but I’m smart and eager to learn with the right pit crew. Because I’m small and clever, I’ll need a super secure yard and maybe even an extra barrier at the door since I’m known to hang out by it like a curious little “door watcher.” I’m all smiles every day and I’d love nothing more than to share that happiness with someone who’s ready for a fun ride. Could that be you?The highlights…-I will need potty training-Lots of energy -Travel sized-Very friendlyMy perfect home would include…-Lots of social time! I enjoy being included-Willing to train me and teach me new things-Being open to potty training and kindly showing me your household routines-Keeping me active. I get a lot of exercise and play time here

IMPORTANT!! Due to time and staffing constraints, ALL inquiries/questions MUST BE accompanied by your completed Adoption Application (Matchmaking Questionnaire). See above for the link to the form. Any inquiries/questions sent without the completed form will NOT receive a response. Thank You for understanding. Affectionate "special needs" Ginger is 4 years old and in search of a loving home that is as special as she is. Ginger had a rough start in life and for the first year of her puppyhood she was strictly confined in a tiny crate with only a few potty breaks. As a result, she suffers from claustrophobia and is terrified of leashes. Despite all this, Ginger is a loving and friendly girl who likes nothing better than to jump up on your lap for a tummy rub, or sit beside you on the couch watching TV. She also loves sleeping in bed with you. She likes toys and chew bones and running around out in the back yard. Ginger is good with other pets and us perfectly potty trained. She uses the doggie door and never makes a mess. Ginger would be the ideal companion for someone who doesn't take their dog for a walk and just wants a friendly and loving pet to be their best friend. Her adoption fee is $125 and includes her spay and all shots.

Story
Buttercup is a sassy little chihuahua mix who is approx. 6-7 years young and 14 lbs. This sassy but adorable girl is searching for her perfect person. Background: For several months, Buttercup and her pals were living on the streets and being fed by people in the neighborhood. As a result, she gets nervous around new people and it takes a while for her to trust you. Personality: Buttercup takes a while to warm up to people. Once she selects you as her person, her excitement to see you begins to show through tail and body wags, talking to you, jumping on you, but will shy away when you try to pet her. She is wary of new people, but we are working on her socialization skills and she is making progress. Once you break through and earn her trust, which may take up to 6 months, Buttercup will reluctantly allow you to do short back and butt scratches, will shadow you, and sleep near you. Buttercup is food motivated and enjoys treats (although she doesn't like fruits or vegetables). In her free time, Buttercup enjoys going for walks, sunning herself in the backyard, and hanging out with other household dogs. Health: Buttercup is up to date on all vaccines, spayed, and microchipped. She does have seasonal allergies and is on medicine. Training: Buttercup is house-trained, crate-trained, and leash-trained. She does not use a dog door. She knows the commands: come, crate, and leave it. Ideal Home: Buttercup requires a special home with love, patience, and a family who will continue to work on her confidence-building. Since she tends to snap when she is scared, Buttercup would thrive in a child-free home with a confident female owner who will be patient and help her break out of her comfort zone. She is used to being around other dogs in her foster home, and does best with calm small to medium size dogs. Buttercup likes someone to accompany her when she goes outside. A secure, fenced-in yard is essential to ensure her safety. She learns from other dogs and would benefit in a home with another dog that will allow her to cuddle and share their crate. Adoption Requirements : Buttercup’s adoption fee is $350. If you think Buttercup is the dog for you please review the following adoption requirements.   Must live in the Phoenix metro area Must have a securely fenced yard Ideally have a dog companion for Buttercup to bond with.  If you are interested in Buttercup please complete an adoption application*: helpadogsmile.org/adoption-application .  *Please note that the application is not a commitment to adopt–it is a tool used to help determine if a dog and applicant would make a good match. Applications are forwarded to the foster family for review and follow-up.  April 24, 2025, 10:10 am

Story
a super happy guy who loves to snuggle and give kisses. Speaking of kisses, I’m not sure why my tongue sticks out all the time; I have all my teeth. My foster mom says it ups my cuteness factor, and I agree!  I really like having other small dogs in my foster home for companionship, but I don’t like to play too much. When I’m looking for something to do, I like to nibble on stuffed toys. Like many dogs my size, I can get nervous from time to time. I would not like to live in an apartment, because going potty in the outside world is scary. I really like my fully fenced yard. I do like meeting new human friends, but I do ask that they give me time to warm up. Once I realize I’m safe with a person, I become their little shadow and lap warmer.  I’m potty trained and eat all my food like a champ! I currently sleep in a crate, but would love to sleep with my furever person in their bed. My ideal home will be calm with minimal visitors, have at least one small dog for companionship and have a fully secured yard with no doggy door.  Snicker’s adoption fee of $350 helps offset the cost of medical expenses as outlined above. If you live in the Phoenix metro area and think he could be the right fit for you, please complete an adoption application*:     helpadogsmile.org/adoption-application .   *Please note that the application is not a commitment to adopt–it is a tool used to help determine if a dog and applicant would make a good match. Story
Hi everyone! My name is Baby and I am a sweet, laid back 10-pound, 11 year-old female Chihuahua mix who wants nothing more than to cuddle and love you.  I may take a little bit to warm up at first as I’m still a little cautious with strangers but I do warm up quickly, especially if you have a little treat you wanted to share with me. I am house-trained and my favorite thing is to sleep and watch tv with you.  I know I would make an excellent addition to your loving home.  I get along fine with small dogs in my foster home but as I am older now I don’t play as much. I was having some trouble walking because my knees were in bad shape, so I had surgery on both my knees and now I can walk and run and it feels so good not to have my knees hurt anymore. Now my foster mom and I are walking to help me strengthen my legs after surgery and maybe take off a few of those pounds I gained when I could not walk well. Baby is spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped. Her adoption fee of $350 helps offset the rescue's medical expenses. If you live in the Phoenix metro area and think she could be the right fit for you, please complete an adoption application*: helpadogsmile.org/adoption-application/  *Please note that the application is not a commitment to adopt–it is a tool used to help determine if a dog and applicant would make a good match. Story
Meet Cisco (Crisco, Potato, Tubby, Gremlin) . Cisco came in with Coco, who is also on our website. Cisco is a sweet, laid back 7-pound, 12 year-old male Apple Head Chihuahua mix who wants nothing more than to have a home again. Cisco is a little tiny bundle of personality. Cisco is not nervous about meeting  people as he knows people mean FOOOOOD! Cisco's love language is definitely food.  He will be sure to let you know when you have done it wrong or you forgot. It is always cookie time in his world. It became very clear that he lived primarily off of  people food as he has begging down pat.  We worked very hard with Cisco on his diet and boundaries when it comes to who's food is who's! After some good boundary training though he did stop trying to take people food which was awesome! Cisco is a little neuro spicy baby and as such has his extra sassy days where you just can't fully please him.... this is Gremlin mode! He knows what he wants and he will give it his all to let you know what he wants with his quirky little bark. Cisco is house-trained and his favorite activties are sleeping and and watching tv with you.  Cisco gets along fine with the small dogs in his foster home but he is an older dog and does not play with other dogs. Cisco is neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. His adoption fee of $350 helps offset the rescue's medical expenses. If you want to adopt both Cisco and Coco they would be $400 for the pair! If you live in the Phoenix metro area and think he could be the right fit for you, please complete an adoption application*:   helpadogsmile.org/adoption-application/   *Please note that the application is not a commitment to adopt–it is a tool used to help determine if a dog and applicant would make a good match.
