Story
Tamera is a one-year-old, 21-pound Dachshund mix with an adorably unique look. Her low-rider frame and petite but slightly stretched-out body is just too cute! Tamera came to HFG terrified and under socialized. She has been in a foster home for over a month learning to be brave and making much progress! She is very shy with humans at the start, but outgoing with dogs, so if you have dogs already, she might be your girl! In her foster home, there are 3 other dogs, and she has been in playgroups up with up to 7 dogs. Confident dogs help her learn the ropes of her new environment and show her that interacting with humans can be really fun! She greets her favorite people with happy tail wags and excited wiggles. Her foster family loves her. They say she is a great kisser! Still, Tamera remains cautious with new faces. So, she’ll do best with someone who understands the value of letting her approach on her own terms. Once she feels safe, she’ll reward you with her trust and her affection. Tamera loves to explore and will happily trot around, sniffing out all the interesting scents in her environment. She often pauses to look back at her person as if to say, “Come see what I found!” With a calm, patient adopter, Tamera will continue to blossom and show the loving, curious, and loyal companion she’s meant to be. Tamera’s $250 adoption fee includes spay, vaccinations, microchip, and a wellness visit at Phoenix Mountain Animal Hospital. To meet Tamera, call 602-971-1334 for an appointment. She is not at the shelter, so an appointment is required.

Story
Meet Bunny: A Brave Little Survivor Ready for Love. Bunny is a one-year-old, 10-pound Chihuahua mix with a story that will tug at your heart. She was discovered tethered in the backyard of an abandoned home, left behind when her family moved out. For three long weeks, Bunny survived alone, emaciated and terrified. A medical exam revealed over a dozen fractured ribs. Abuse is suspected. Despite her traumatic past, Bunny has shown remarkable resilience. She has some neurological effects from her injuries, which add a unique little hop to her walk, hence the name Bunny. She also exhibits resource guarding with food and objects, a behavior that reflects her time in survival mode. In foster care, Bunny began to relax and show her true personality. She’s happy, sweet, and affectionate, with a deep need for love and safety. Bunny is looking for a patient, compassionate adopter who will offer her the stable, secure home she’s always deserved. Bunny’s $225 adoption fee includes spaying, vaccines, microchipping, and a free wellness visit at Phoenix Mountain Animal Hospital. To meet Bunny, call 602-971-1334 to schedule a visit. Walk-ins are also welcome Thursday through Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Come meet this brave little Bunny. You might just be the hero she’s been waiting for!
