Story
Fluffy was born in early 2020 in Glendale, AZ. She is a friendly little gal and requires affection and attention. She is not house trained, but can become given the time, patience, consistency and commitment. I am looking for a loving home. No physical abuse or neglect. Please! We are wanting to rehome Fluffy because we have a busy schedule and the teenage and adult kids cannot tend to her or his other 2 mates (Maya and Olaf). Fluffy is playful and friendly with kids. We do not take her out too much so we are not sure about her behavior with other animals. Serious commitment only please! Please treat her with love, kindness and affection!-

IMPORTANT!! Due to time and staffing constraints, ALL inquiries/questions MUST BE accompanied by your completed Adoption Application (Matchmaking Questionnaire). See above for the link to the form. Any inquiries/questions sent without the completed form will NOT receive a response. Thank You for understanding. Affectionate "special needs" Ginger is 4 years old and in search of a loving home that is as special as she is. Ginger had a rough start in life and for the first year of her puppyhood she was strictly confined in a tiny crate with only a few potty breaks. As a result, she suffers from claustrophobia and is terrified of leashes. Despite all this, Ginger is a loving and friendly girl who likes nothing better than to jump up on your lap for a tummy rub, or sit beside you on the couch watching TV. She also loves sleeping in bed with you. She likes toys and chew bones and running around out in the back yard. Ginger is good with other pets and us perfectly potty trained. She uses the doggie door and never makes a mess. Ginger would be the ideal companion for someone who doesn't take their dog for a walk and just wants a friendly and loving pet to be their best friend. Her adoption fee is $125 and includes her spay and all shots.

Story
Hi everyone! My name is Coco and I am a sweet, laid back 10-pound, 9 year-old female Chihuahua mix who wants nothing more than to have a home again. Cisco (also at helpadogsmile.org) and Coco were very loved little dogs, who have been lifelong friends, found themselves homeless when their trusted human had to enter memory care. These two love each other, are housetrained and just had dentals! Yes they can be separated but we would love to see them stay together. They are the odd couple with cisco with his love to be held and busy little personality while Coco is a bit more laid back...she loves to follow you around and sit with you BUT a tad wary of being scooped up!  Coco might take a min to warm up at first as I’m still a little cautious with strangers but I do warm up quickly, especially if you have a little treat you wanted to share with me. I am house-trained and my favorite thing is to sleep and watch tv with you.  I know I would make an excellent addition to your loving home.  I get along fine with small dogs in my foster home but as I am older now I don’t play as much Coco is spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped. Her adoption fee of $350 helps offset the rescue's medical expenses. If you want to adopt both Cisco and Coco they would be $400 for the pair! If you live in the Phoenix metro area and think she could be the right fit for you, please complete an adoption application*:   helpadogsmile.org/adoption-application/  *Please note that the application is not a commitment to adopt–it is a tool used to help determine if a dog and applicant would make a good match. Applications are forwarded to the foster family for review and follow-up. April 23, 2025, 11:24 pm

Story
Buttercup is a sassy little chihuahua mix who is approx. 6-7 years young and 14 lbs. This sassy but adorable girl is searching for her perfect person. Background: For several months, Buttercup and her pals were living on the streets and being fed by people in the neighborhood. As a result, she gets nervous around new people and it takes a while for her to trust you. Personality: Buttercup takes a while to warm up to people. Once she selects you as her person, her excitement to see you begins to show through tail and body wags, talking to you, jumping on you, but will shy away when you try to pet her. She is wary of new people, but we are working on her socialization skills and she is making progress. Once you break through and earn her trust, which may take up to 6 months, Buttercup will reluctantly allow you to do short back and butt scratches, will shadow you, and sleep near you. Buttercup is food motivated and enjoys treats (although she doesn't like fruits or vegetables). In her free time, Buttercup enjoys going for walks, sunning herself in the backyard, and hanging out with other household dogs. Health: Buttercup is up to date on all vaccines, spayed, and microchipped. She does have seasonal allergies and is on medicine. Training: Buttercup is house-trained, crate-trained, and leash-trained. She does not use a dog door. She knows the commands: come, crate, and leave it. Ideal Home: Buttercup requires a special home with love, patience, and a family who will continue to work on her confidence-building. Since she tends to snap when she is scared, Buttercup would thrive in a child-free home with a confident female owner who will be patient and help her break out of her comfort zone. She is used to being around other dogs in her foster home, and does best with calm small to medium size dogs. Buttercup likes someone to accompany her when she goes outside. A secure, fenced-in yard is essential to ensure her safety. She learns from other dogs and would benefit in a home with another dog that will allow her to cuddle and share their crate. Adoption Requirements : Buttercup’s adoption fee is $350. If you think Buttercup is the dog for you please review the following adoption requirements.   Must live in the Phoenix metro area Must have a securely fenced yard Ideally have a dog companion for Buttercup to bond with.  If you are interested in Buttercup please complete an adoption application*: helpadogsmile.org/adoption-application .  *Please note that the application is not a commitment to adopt–it is a tool used to help determine if a dog and applicant would make a good match. Applications are forwarded to the foster family for review and follow-up.  April 24, 2025, 10:10 am

Georgia is a 7-year-old Chihuahua with a lot of love to give. She is a good little girl who likes to cuddle. Hi everyone! My name is Baby and I am a sweet, laid back 10-pound, 11 year-old female Chihuahua mix who wants nothing more than to cuddle and love you.  I may take a little bit to warm up at first as I’m still a little cautious with strangers but I do warm up quickly, especially if you have a little treat you wanted to share with me. I am house-trained and my favorite thing is to sleep and watch tv with you.  I know I would make an excellent addition to your loving home.  I get along fine with small dogs in my foster home but as I am older now I don’t play as much. I was having some trouble walking because my knees were in bad shape, so I had surgery on both my knees and now I can walk and run and it feels so good not to have my knees hurt anymore. Now my foster mom and I are walking to help me strengthen my legs after surgery and maybe take off a few of those pounds I gained when I could not walk well. Baby is spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped. Her adoption fee of $350 helps offset the rescue's medical expenses. If you live in the Phoenix metro area and think she could be the right fit for you, please complete an adoption application*: helpadogsmile.org/adoption-application/  *Please note that the application is not a commitment to adopt–it is a tool used to help determine if a dog and applicant would make a good match.
