He absolutely loves going on walks and enjoys taking in all the sights and smells. At home, he’s a big cuddle bug — he’s happiest relaxing near his people and soaking up affection. While he’s calm by nature, he also enjoys playtime, especially when his humans initiate it. He’s always happy to engage and have fun. He can be vocal when meeting new people or when he hears unfamiliar noises, as he likes to alert his family. Once he feels comfortable, his true gentle personality shines through. We are looking for a loving, patient home that will appreciate his sweet nature and give him the companionship he thrives on. He would do best with a family who enjoys walks and cuddles. He is a kind, loyal, affectionate dog who deserves a home where he can continue to feel safe and loved.

Oso was rescued from the San Pedro Harbor Animal Shelter after his owner surrendered him due to landlord conflicts. He is housetrained and enjoys reclining in a doggie bed or recliner. He is food motivated and good with small dogs. Not cat tested. He is not good with small children or large dogs. Best in an adult home but very congenial with small dogs. He could use some basic obedience training to walk gentling on a leash. He enjoys toys. He would definitely due best in an adult home with no visiting grandkids. Adults would be fine. Travels well in a car.

Lemon Cakes owner passed away in Carson. She is 8 pounds and 3.5 years old. She is recovering from flea allergy dermatitis on her hind quarters. She has been given a monthly flea medication once, and her first medicated bath. Her Spay/Vaccination/ Microchip/Flea treatment appointment is August 9th, (paid for by her feeder) but she can go home before then with a spay addendum. She was previously using potty pads, but her current feeder will begin to get her used to a leash. She can be slow to get used to new people, bc she has been through a lot with the passing of her owner, and then the adoption of the 9 other pets that lived in the home. She is the last pet still living in the home.

Story
Meet Joey, a 7-pound Chihuahua with a personality about ten times bigger than his tiny body! Joey was found by a Good Samaritan injured, extremely underweight, and clearly in pain. They brought him to our rescue, and we immediately rushed him to the veterinary office. After an exam and X-rays, we discovered that Joey had two compound fractures in his left rear leg, along with an infection. He was then rushed to a veterinary surgeon who tried everything possible to save his leg, but unfortunately, the damage was too severe, and his leg had to be amputated. Joey was started on antibiotics for his infection and began his road to recovery. I expected this little guy to come to me exhausted and wanting nothing more than to sleep, but boy, was I wrong! After just one day, Joey was ready to PLAY! This little tripod is loving, playful, and absolutely full of life. He loves other dogs and most people—unless you're a very tall man, in which case he may need a minute to decide if you're okay! Once Joey warms up, though, he's all in. He wants to snuggle, follow you around, and run like a cheetah, whether he has a toy in his mouth or not. When breakfast or dinner rolls around, Joey is VERY excited because this boy absolutely loves his meals. And let's be honest, Joey has no idea he's only 7 pounds. In his mind, he is every bit as big and important as the 30- and 50-pound dogs around him! Joey is already showing us just how smart he is. He's learning to play tug-of-war, has already figured out the dog door, is housebroken, and even loves the water. His little legs may look different now, but Joey certainly doesn't let that slow him down. If you're looking for a little dog with a BIG bark, an even bigger personality, and a heart that will melt yours, Joey just might be your boy. He's going to be the little shadow who follows you around, makes you laugh every single day, and reminds you that sometimes the smallest dogs have the biggest hearts. ❤️🐾
