Story
Saint is such an amazing pup. He’s so sweet and listens very well. He did chase a cat out of our yard while playing outside with my girls and the rear of a tire hit him. He had a broken hip, but has he healed so well and is able to walk, run, and play. He cannot jump high like he used to. He cannot jump to get on furniture as he used to. In the recent years, my daughters and myself have gotten sick more often than normal. One of my daughters ended up having to get her tonsils and adenoids removed, but still gets very congested. After getting allergy tested, it reflects that we are all highly allergic to dogs. Although we are now taking allergy shots, I am told that we have to go through a five-year series to improve our allergies and as much as we love Saint, with our school and work attendance being impacted significantly, we are making the tough decision to rehome him.

Story
Hi, I'm Gigi! I am a 5-year-old Chihuahua blend girl who weighs 15 lbs. I will need a dog-savvy, experienced "Chihuahua person" (if you know, you know).   I'm not going to sugar coat it . . . I am not here to win Miss Congeniality.  I'm moody and judgy and I will most likely side-eye your life choices.  I'm adorable, but have a fiesty streak and a very firm "no thank you" policy on other dogs in my home, and honestly, most people too.  I will require an adults-only home.  But here’s the thing, underneath all my sass is a loyal, hilarious, ride-or-die companion for the right person. Once you’re in my circle of trust? You’re in.   I will love you hard, stick by your side, and probably still judge you… but, lovingly.   I know that I am not for everyone. I will need someone patient, understanding and willing to earn my trust.   Favorite Things:  Gigi has been known to enjoy lengthy meditation sessions: even though she is a Chihuahua, she *is* Zen. Even fireworks merely irk her: she is not afraid. Gigi will also choose a favorite human as her person. (Patience and treats help!) She particularly favors men. Training & Manners: Gigi has all the makings of a little lady! She is housetrained if let out regularly. She sleeps in her dog bed (or on the sofa) at night. She walks well on a leash, which is lucky given her love of walks.  She is getting better and less anxious about car rides. She can, however, be very skeptical of new people. She needs slow introductions and does not like it when strangers come towards her or engage her. With time, however, she warms up: with her Chihuahua-savvy fosters, she has become very sweet and snuggly after a few weeks. Health and Care: Gigi is spayed, up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative, and microchipped. She just needs her monthly heartworm and flea/tick preventative, like any other dog. She won't need much elaborate grooming and so far she has done well at bath time. Other Animals: Gigi would do best as the only dog in a household, although she may get along with some cats. While on walks, she usually ignores other dogs and/or is easily redirected. However, she will bark at new dogs and get snippy if they don't back off. Children: This gal does best within a quiet home with a predictable schedule.  She can also be too sassy at times, so a home without children will be necessary.  Ideal Home: Gigi hears all and knows all; she's a great guard dog. She barks, but will settle. She will need a single-family home with a fenced yard.  No exceptions.  Overall: Gigi is looking for a family with Chihuahua "street cred".  Gigi has high standards and will require several meet-and-greets with potential adopters.  Do you think Gigi is just gorgeous? Then visit our website at www.PoodleandPoochRescue.org where you will find the application to adopt. You’ll be put in contact with the foster family for more information if it’s a potential match. Her adoption donation is $325. ##2588401##

***Bonded –Molly & Penny are bonded and must be adopted together.*** Meet Molly and Penny! Hi, we’re Molly and Penny, a bonded pair of Chihuahuas with big personalities and a lot of love to give! Don’t let our age fool you – we are full of energy and charisma.  We’re affectionate, silly, resilient, and very loyal once we acclimate to our new environment.  Molly: I’m a 13-year-old Chihuahua girl and weighing 8.6 pounds. I love giving kisses to my special person and any spot close to them is my favorite place in the world. I like food and though I love my bestie, Penny, it’s usually a good idea for us to eat separately so we’re not tempted to share.   Penny: I’m a 13-year-old Chihuahua girl weighing 7.2 pounds. I love curling up in the coziest spot I can find near my person.  I also love food so I might need some tricks to slow me down. Favorite Things: Molly and Penny are very affectionate and bond closely with their special person as their trust builds. They do best in a calm environment with limited foot traffic, but they can handle being home alone for a few hours, as long as they have each other!  They can take or leave toys, much preferring to hang out with each other and their person. They do love their food and are very food-motivated, which helps with training. They also love neighborhood walks and relaxing on the couch with their humans in the evening.  Training & Manners: Molly and Penny are working on housetraining and do best when let out on a regular schedule. They'll need continued coaching and patience with house manners but already do well with leash walking.  They enjoy their walks and the exercise helps them settle.   They are fine on car rides and sleep soundly in the people bed at night in their foster home. Health & Care: This pair are both up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative, microchipped, spayed, and recently had dental cleanings.  They just need their monthly flea and heartworm preventatives, like any dog. Regular baths and nail trims will keep them looking and feeling their best. Other Animals: Molly and Penny have experience with other small, laid-back dogs.  They have not been tested with cats, but their foster mom suspects they would not be a good fit. Children: These two sweethearts would do best in an adult-only home as the high energy that children generally bring unsettles them.  Molly in particular is uncomfortable when someone moves too quickly into her personal space.   Ideal Home: This pair isn’t picky and could do fine in an apartment, condo, townhouse or single home.  They can be left alone in the home in a secure space for a few hours without issues. Overall: If you have a heart and home big enough for two sweet Chihuahuas who make wonderful companions for their people and each other, Molly and Penny might be the ones for you. If you think they might be, visit www.PoodleandPoochRescue.org to fill out an adoption application. If it seems like it could be a good match, their foster family will reach out with more information. The adoption donation for the pair is $300. ##2629693##

***Bonded – Lil Bit & Bow Wow are bonded and must be adopted together.*** Meet Lil Bit and Bow Wow! Hi, we are Lil Bit and Bow Wow. We’ve been together for many years and can’t bear to be parted.  We’re both curious, gentle, and a little shy and we’re searching for a family that has LOVE enough for two. Lil Bit – I’m a three-legged Chihuahua girl who is 13.5 years old and weighs 6.5 lbs. I take the lead for this dynamic duo, like any self-respecting Chihuahua, but Bow Wow is my best friend in the world and we get along like two peas in a pod. I’m also in charge of surveillance in my home and neighborhood, so you can rest easy. Bow Wow – I’m a 10-year-old Cairn terrier blend boy who weighs 12.6 lbs. I happily follow my best-friend-furever’s lead but I’m also fond of human cuddles.  My enthusiastic wiggle when I see my people will tell them all they need to know. Favorite Things: This pair eats, plays, and sleeps together and are very relaxed in each other’s company. Lil Bit likes to sit on her human’s lap when it’s time to chill. Bow Wow also loves to snuggle with his human and be scratched behind his ears.  They can take or leave toys, preferring to enjoy time with their people and their soulmates over playing with the squeaky stuff. Training & Manners: Lil Bit and Bow Wow are house trained when kept on a regular schedule. They have good basic manners, walk well on their leashes and tolerate a car ride. Both sleep in their own cozy beds at night in their foster home. Health & Care: This is a healthy pair who are up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative, microchipped, spayed/neutered, and recently had dental cleanings.  They just need their monthly flea and heartworm preventatives, like any dog. Lil Bit will need regular baths and nail trims while Bow Wow will need professional grooming every 6-8 weeks to look and feel his best. Other Animals: Lil Bit and Bow Wow have experience with other small dogs as well as cats and get along with both but need slow introductions. Children: These two sweethearts would do best in a home with kind, understanding, older children (ages 12+), or a home with no kids and quiet senior living would be great too!  Ideal Home: This pair will need a home without stairs or a pool given Lil Bit’s three-legged physique. And they’ll do best in a single-family home because Lil Bit will bark to alert you to both strangers and visitors (she has a strong resume as security director). They can be left alone in the home for a few hours in a secure space. This duo would do best in a fenced-yard where they can sniff, explore and wander together safely in nature. Overall: If you’re looking for a cuddly couple who make wonderful companions for their people as well as each other, Lil Bit and Bow Wow might be the ones for you. If you think they might be, visit www.PoodleandPoochRescue.org to fill out an adoption application. If it seems like it could be a good match, their foster family will reach out with more information. The adoption donation for the pair is $300. ##1360023##

Story
Hi there — my name is Desmond. I’m a 10yearold senior Chihuahua gentleman, weighing in at a perfect 12 lbs. I’m quirky, snuggly, and proudly the definition of a Velcro dog. I bond deeply with my person, and I especially adore ladies. I can live with a gentle, caring man in my forever home, but let’s be honest… he’ll be the “spare human”, as my heart will likely belong to mama. I really hate being alone, so a home with another small, chill dog AND my human(s) being around most of the time would make me happiest. Favorite Things: Desmond’s favorite things in life include snuggling on your lap, giving sweet doggie kisses, and making silly Chihuahua faces. He is a selfproclaimed couch potato, but your lap is his absolute favorite place in the world. He loves spending time with other small, calm dogs, burrowing into blankets, going for walks, exploring outside, and cuddling with his foster mom. And above all else, he has a deep and abiding love for chicken. Training & Manners:  In his foster home, Desmond is housetrained with consistent and frequent potty breaks. He walks nicely on a leash, tolerates a ride in the car, and has good basic manners. He’s a smart little guy who knows lots of words — especially “hungry” and “outside.” He understands what you’re asking of him, though he occasionally practices selective listening. Overall, he’s a good listener and eager to please.  He is anxious about being alone and is very vocal when he finds himself in that situation.  Health and Care: Desmond is neutered, up to date on vaccines, microchipped, and recently had a dental cleaning. He has a thick undercoat and appreciates regular brushing, which he sits nicely for. Routine nail trims and baths will help him look and feel his best. Other Animals:  He has experience living with small dogs and cats and would thrive in a home with another calm, laidback dog to snuggle and play with. Overly excited dogs aren’t really his vibe. Children: Desmond hasn’t been observed around children, and due to his small size and senior status, he would do best in a home with respectful teenagers. Ideal Home: Desmond will need a singlefamily house because he can be quite vocal  when he is left alone.  A fenced yard would be wonderful but isn’t required since he walks well on a leash. He’s still learning about stairs and isn’t completely comfortable with them yet, but he’s small enough to be carried when needed. He would love a home where someone is around most of the time, and his dream setup would include another small, calm dog for companionship. At night, Desmond insists on sleeping in the "people bed", preferably snuggled right up against his new mama — either on top of her or tucked into the crook of her knees. Overall: If you’re looking for a loving, loyal senior companion who will shower you with affection, Desmond might be your perfect match. To meet him, visit www.PoodleandPoochRescue.org and submit an adoption application. If it looks like a good fit, his foster family will reach out with more information. His adoption donation is $225. ##2673161##
