Apply to Adopt Me! Shadow is a 1yo, approx. 7lb. male chihuahua mix who was abandoned by his owner. Even so, he loves being with his person. He takes a bit to warm up to new people, but once he does he loves affection and belly rubs, and loves to give kisses. He is mostly house trained and is learning that the leash means go potty. He is crate trained, walks well on a leash (may pull a bit at first) and rides well in a car. He does have a lot of energy so he needs someone who is active with him and has a fenced yard for him to run and play in. Shadow previously lived with a large dog, and also does well with small dogs and cats. He can be growly at first when meeting new people, has some separation anxiety and can be vocal when left alone. Loud noises scare him. Shadow loves small toys, especially rope toys. But keep your shoes up or he will think they are there for him. We are preferring an adult-only home for him, but if the home has kids they should be older and respectful. Apply to Adopt Me! Meet Sidney a young and very handsome boy. He is an approx. 3yo, 8lb. long-hair chihuahua mix with shiny brown and black fur. When he first meets you, he is very shy and scared, running away and hiding for safety. But after some time, patience, and understanding he now feels safe with his foster mom and fur siblings, where he realizes love, warmth and contentment. He is now even doing zoomies! He gets along so well and loves each of his foster siblings, all small dogs like him, and they play, wrestle and chase each other in the yard. Cuddling is his favorite past time. Although it took some time, he has learned how to trust, and his personality is really coming out. He is house trained as long as he is taken out on a regular basis. He may still make the occasional mistake though. He hasn't learned to walk on leash yet, and that is a work in progress, so for that reason he does need a fenced yard. He is not a big barker and rides well in a car. He is not a big player with toys, but does enjoy chew bones. He loves to sleep cuddled up right next to his foster mom where it’s warm and cozy. He insists on getting lots of kisses before going to bed, then he sleeps quietly all through the night. Sidney needs to be in a home with another dog that is confident and will cuddle with him and make him feel safe. Sidney will need someone who can give him time and patience, and not pressure him until he is ready (you must fight the urge to pick him up and cuddle his adorableness until he’s comfortable and ok with it). Once he has that time to settle in and feel as if he can trust you, he will be your best friend, and you will find out what a good boy he is. Due to his skittish-at-first nature, we are preferring an all adult home for him. He is a barker so apartment or condo living may not be best for him. Apply to Adopt Me! Brantley is an approx. 1-year-old, 16lb. male chihuahua mix who is a joyful, affectionate pup bursting with classic puppy energy and curiosity. He absolutely loves his toys and proudly carries them around, often bringing them straight to your bed to share his fun. He is fully potty trained, rarely barks, and settling easily into daily routines. Brantley does wonderfully with other dogs and enjoys their company, whether at home or out on walks. When walking, he’s friendly, social, and polite with both people and dogs, making outings enjoyable and stress-free. At mealtime, Brantley isn’t picky at all, though he has a healthy appetite and would benefit from using a slow feeder dish. He rides calmly in the car and does well as long as he’s safely secured with a tether. We are requiring a secure fenced yard for him because he is young, agile and loves to chase squirrels. He will chase an indoor cat to play but does not harm them. One of his sweetest traits is how affectionate he is—Brantley loves to be near his people at all times and is happiest when close by. He’s a true snuggle bug who shows his love by gently resting his chin on your lap, soaking up attention and companionship. He loves sleeping with his person at night. Apply to Adopt Me! Meet little Benny, a 2-year-old applehead Chihuahua weighing 6 1/2 pounds. Benny was brought to a shelter after being hit by a car. Lil Rascals quickly got him out of the shelter, but once in his foster home, he seemed to have vision issues, so he was taken to an eye vet specialist, where it was determined that he could see, but did have something going on. After being on meds for a period of time, we took him to his second eye specialist checkup, where his pupils responded to light, he followed the vet's movements with both eyes and she believed that the injury to his eyes was due to the trauma from the car accident. He has improved so much from last time. She feels that he may even get more improvement as his nerves continue to heal. When he first arrived at his foster mom's house, he was so scared that he would run away and hide. If she tried to pick him up, he would growl and try to bite her. But with time, love and patience, he has mostly gotten over that fear. He is now a little cuddle bug. He still likes to growl at you when you pick him up, but there’s no biting, and after he’s in your arms, he relishes the attention. He will even give you kisses. He loves to sleep in his foster mom‘s bed snuggled right next to her. He gets along with all his foster fur buddies, but he doesn’t really play with them. Benny loves his walks and he does a great job on the leash. He is also good on car rides. Benny loves to eat. He needs a slow feeder bowl or he’ll gobble up his food in seconds. Treats are his favorite and he’s the first one in line. He’s not big on playing with toys. Benny needs a home with an experienced chihuahua owner. He requires patience and time to get to know his person. But once he does, you can’t help but love him. He’s quirky and goofy and has the cutest little face. He needs someone to love and understand him. He is mostly house trained, but he does use a pee pad and on occasion he’ll make a tiny little poop somewhere. Benny will always be Benny. That’s what makes him so endearing. This little guy will make you laugh. He has learned to respond to love and care and a full belly. He is his foster mom's sweet little man and he can be yours too. Due to his small size, we are requiring an all-adult home only. He loves to be outside so a small fenced space would be great for him. Apply to Adopt Me! Meet Clint - a very cute, playful and happy boy. Clint is a 6-year-old Chi mix weighing 13 1/2 pounds. He loves playing with his foster fur buddies in the yard chasing each other and doing zoomies. Clint is so affectionate and a little kissy face once he warms up to you and steals your heart. He loves to cuddle right next to you with three of his other fur friends on your lap. He just loves other dogs and would do best in a home with an outgoing and confident companion who can show him the ropes. Clint came from a sad situation where the first half of his life he knew very little of the outside world, so as a result he’s a bit of a nervous Nelly. He is incredibly smart and loves to work, so this little guy would love a home and job! His greatest love is chewing on his knuckle bones and he will do anything for a treat. Clint has been doing very well with his house training and is now house trained. Clint is fearful and has not learned to walk on a leash as of yet, so he does need patience and training for that. And since he doesn't walk on leash yet, he does need a fenced yard so he can run and do his business. He is a good car rider, riding quietly. He sleeps quietly all night and needs to cuddle with other dogs. Clint needs to be in a home with another fun and active dog. Clint is shy at first meeting, but warms up with time, love, and cookies. He is a great little dog and looks forward to his loving, forever home.
