Story
Meet Scout, an adorable 20lb Terrier/Chi/Cattle Dog type mix who came from local animal control as an unclaimed stray. He is a sweet boy who loves to be with people and receive attention. He knows sit and paw and will happily offer those commands whenever you would like, sometimes even when you are not asking for them. Scout has lots of energy and is working on leash manners. Because of his dog reactivity, he will need some work on walks. A fenced yard would be great for him. He does love to run around and sniff in the grass. He can tend to grab the leash to try to tug or be a little mouthy when he gets excited. He is looking for a home with no children or other pets.

Story
Meet Chewy, a 2-year-old Chihuahua mix, weighing about 16 pounds. He was found as a stray and never reclaimed, so now he is looking for a forever home! Chewy is very nervous and was mortified when he first came to us. He has made tremendous strides, though, and now enjoys pets and hanging out with his people. Chewy will need patience as he adjusts and gets to know you and starts to trust. Fast movements can spook him, but we have made lots of progress as far as leashing/unleashing and petting. He loves to go outside with his people to run around, sniff, and play with squeaky plush toys. He does chase the toys when thrown, but he likes to hold them instead of bringing them back. Chewy has met a few similar sized dogs and done okay. He does tend to match the energy of the other dogs, so if the other dog isn’t a fan, neither is Chewy. He has run around outside in a run next to one of our medium dogs and seemed to get excited when she got the zoomies. We are hoping with time and patience in a home, he will blossom! Chewy is looking for a home without children. It would be beneficial for an adopter to have experience with nervous dogs or finicky chihuahuas.Chewy has some allergies that were causing him to have a lot of skin irritation and upset stomach. He is now on a fish-based diet (Purina ProPlan Sensitive Skin and Stomach- Salmon and Rice) as well as Apoquel, once daily, which helped tremendously. He will need to be on this long term.

Story
Marty is the cutest little dog! He is a sweet senior looking to have a loving home for his golden years. He is about 9.5 years old and weighs just at 22lbs. He was actually adopted out from WCHS in 2023 and was recently returned due to his owner having health issues. He’s back at the shelter, loving all the staff and volunteers but he really wants to be in a home! He is kid friendly and is good with dogs, but he can be protective of his owners so having him be the only dog in the household will lead to a happier life for all! He is fully vetted, appears housebroken and loves walks, pets and his favorite….belly rubs!

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. My name is Vin Diesel and I'm a senior, male chihuahua.  I just had a dental so my teeth are in pretty okay shape now.  I'm great with other dogs and cats and also respectful kids.  I'm of course hoping to enjoy my retirement ages in a calmer home though.  I walk very well on a leash and love going for car rides.  I'm also potty trained and know my basic commands.  I have great manners and would make an amazing addition to most households.  I'm fixed, up to date on vaccines, and microchipped. His adoption fee is $400 To adopt Vin Diesel, fill out an application at www.kakf.org/formsVisit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.October 13, 2025, 1:53 pm

Story
Scooby Dooby Doo is ready to find his forever family! Scooby Dooby Doo is a happy, energetic little guy who’s ready to bring fun and love into his forever home! His foster reports that he’s potty trained and doing great with his routine. His estimated birthday is 4/1/2025 and he is a small little guy (fully grown). Scooby is truly a social butterfly — he’s friendly with both men and women and has done wonderfully with children. He loves making friends and fits right in with his foster fur siblings. When he met a cat, Scooby was eager to play… unfortunately, the cat didn’t quite share his enthusiasm (Scooby still thinks it was worth a try!). Don’t let his size fool you — Scooby has some serious hops! When treats are involved, he can jump impressively high. If he had a career, he’d definitely be a professional apple picker thanks to those athletic leaps. He also loves a good game of tug-of-war and is always up for playtime. Scooby’s energy level is best described as well-balanced. He’s very active, curious, and eager to explore, but he also knows how to settle down and relax. He’s a quick learner who enjoys staying engaged, making him a great match for someone looking for both a playful companion and a cuddly sidekick. If you’re looking for a fun-loving, friendly pup with personality for days, Scooby Dooby Doo might just be your perfect match!
