Story
OTHER PETS: Maddie has gotten along well with both bigger and similarly-sized dogs while here at TJO! While a bit awkward, she quickly relaxes and attempts to initiate play after a few greeting sniffs. [Likely (Must Meet First)]OWNER EXPERIENCE: Maddie is an all-around happy dog that loves people just as much as she loves her toys. She would likely make a good first dog for anyone looking to be dedicated to caring for a new family. Experience with, or willing to learn positive reinforcement. [First Dog]KIDS: Maddie is tolerant of handling and has not shown any signs of resource guarding while at TJO. She could potentially be a good match for a family with kids, but as always interactions between children and dogs should be actively monitored to ensure that both parties remain comfortable and safe. [Likely (Must Meet First)]ACTIVITY LEVEL:Maddie is an easy-going, playful dog that loves spending time with her people--whether that means hanging out on the couch, a walk around the neighborhood, or playtime out in the yard. She absolutely loves toys, though her favorites seem to be of the squeaky variety! A blend of regular exercise and plenty of mental enrichment such as food puzzles and games will help meet her needs. [Good Walking Buddy]VETERINARY CARE: [Routine]LEVEL OF TRAINING NEEDED:Positive reinforcement training will help Maddie not only learn her basic cues & skills, but also help her to bond with her new owner while building confidence. [Minimal]GROOMING:Routine brushing will help to minimize shedding in the home. [Minimal]January 15, 2026, 1:36 pm

Story
Lucky is a 2-year-old Jack Russell–Chihuahua mix with a big personality packed into a small body. His previous family described him as loving, playful, and always happy, and it’s easy to see why—Lucky loves to be close to his people and is perfectly content being carried around or snuggled up for cuddles. When it’s playtime, tennis balls are his absolute favorite and he’s always ready for a fun game. Lucky gets along well with other dogs and has lived successfully with both cats and kids, making him a great candidate for a variety of homes. He can be nervous when meeting new people, so he’ll need a patient, understanding family who will let him warm up at his own pace and help build his confidence. Lucky is not house trained yet, so his future family should be prepared to continue working on training with consistency and positive reinforcement. With time, patience, and lots of love, Lucky has all the potential to blossom into a wonderful, devoted companion. Ready to Adopt? Story
Meet Harley! A loyal six-and-a-half-year-old Chihuahua mix currently in Newton, MA, whose small frame and big heart make him the perfect cuddle companion wrapped in a tan coat with charming white accents. Harley is the ultimate lap dog, always ready to cozy up and share quiet moments with someone who understands the beauty of companionship. He thrives in calm environments and is especially drawn to loving adults who can match his gentle rhythm. While he can be timid in new surroundings and may express his uncertainty with a little growl, he blossoms quickly with patient reassurance and a comforting routine. His days are simple: two meals, a brushing chew at night, and all the snuggles he can soak in! This 12-pound boy may be small, but he’s got a big personality. Harley knows how to sit, lie down, offer a paw (and the other one too!), come when called, and leave things be. He’s a smart little guy who listens well and loves positive attention. He’s house-trained, neutered, up to date on his vaccines, and has recently recovered like a champ from a minor dental procedure. Now, he’s feeling great and ready to share his affection with a new family! Harley is selective with canine friends and would be happiest as the only pet in a cat-free home where he can be the center of attention. He’s not one for chaos or change, but in the hands of experienced caregivers who offer patience and consistency, Harley will quickly show his sweet, loyal nature. Story
If you would like to apply to take MUNCHKIN home, click the link next to their picture, or Visit our website at Www.godogsgorescue.org and fill out an application! We look forward to hearing from you. This little one came from a hoarding situation, we are estimating to be somewhere between 1-2 years old. Being taken out of that situation when it’s all you’ve ever known is a bit of an adjustment, they have just gone into foster homes, and with patience and a bit of time we are confident they can adjust into a normal life. Munchkin Munchkin was probably the most shy at intake, but within a few hours was already warming up nicely to her foster mom! None of the dogs were nippy, just nervous. With this in mind we would recommend no small children or hectic households. They are all used to other dogs and a confident doggy companion in the home would be great. You can apply now will be able to go home mid February
