Story
Anndalina **** Anndalina is part of our TLC program. Our TLC club members receive special follow-up help when adopted into their new home including visits with a professional behaviorist. Speak to our volunteers about more information regarding our TLC members.**** 10 YEARS OLD. Chi mix. black with white, no kids, no cats, okay with some dogs, basics of potty training. Needs fenced in yard and no apartments. Anndalina came to us as an emergency surrender. This poor girl was trying to chew her tail off and needed emergency treatment. We rushed her into our vet and it was determined her tail would need to be amputated to prevent any infection from spreading. We whisked her into surgery and brought her back to one of our foster homes. Anndalina has had a rough beginning to her life and she will need a patient and understanding home to help her become the dog we know she can be. We would recommend she go to a child free home and a home where her Chihuahua bark will not be a problem. A nice quiet couple or single person would be the ideal place for her as she can become overwhelmed with too many visitors. Once she bonds to her people she is very affectionate but it will take a while for this nervous girl to settle into any new home and she will need to be given time to calm and adjust. Please note we do not have a central kennel facility, all of our pets are located in foster homes. Story
Mr. Tilly is a 12lb, exceptionally shy pup looking for a home who will help him adjust to a new life. Please read his entire bio before reaching out to the shelter. He is looking for an adult home only. Due to Mr. Tilly's shy personality, he is looking for a quiet home environment, and would not be suited to large apartment complexes at this time. He will require several meets with patient, adult adopters before he is ready to go to a new home. Mr. Tilly may be able to live with other dogs of similar size, but they would have to meet first. This shy guy is looking for just the right fit, with gentle people who can appreciate how tough it can be to be left wandering, as he was found as a stray in Worcester with no owner coming forward to claim him. Mr.Tilly has trouble bonding with new people, but is lovely with the staff who care for him. He does not want to be petted or picked up by new people, just given some space to observe and relax without being overwhelmed by attention. Once Mr. Tilly makes friends, he is very sweet and bouncy, just needs folks who understand dog body language and don't need a dog to instantly adore them. If you are interested in adopting Mr. Tilly and viewing him on Adopt a Pet, please head to our website worcesterarl.org and click on his picture to fill out the Dog Adoption Inquiry Form to request a meet with him. All adoptions are by appointment, thank you!

Story
Nessie is a very sweet girl. She loves to go for walks and enjoys soaking up the sun during nice weather. Nessie is looking for a quiet home where she can be the center of attention. We have learned that this chihuahua would prefer to live with a woman, and does not care for men. Nessie loves who she loves, and does not care for new people reaching for, or trying to pet her. Nessie does bond strongly with her person, and is a wonderful companion for the right home. Nessie enjoys moving at a slow pace and meeting people that understand it takes time to get to know each other. An adult home only will be best for this little sweetheart. If you are viewing this dog's profile on Adopt-a-Pet and are interested in adopting, please head to our official website at www.worcesterarl.org to fill out a Dog Adoption Inquiry Form, which will be located under the dog's profile. All adoptions are by appointment, thank you.

Story
What an adorable looking chihuahua mix this pup is. Just look at those amber eyes, brown nose, and those amazing ears. Asher is three years old and weighs in at around 10 pounds. He has a short blonde coat. He is a confident guy with a medium energy level. He is a loving boy who is eager to please. Chihuahuas are known as tiny dogs with giant personalities. They are loyal and loving, wanting nothing more than to be with you. They love people attention. They are often smart, quick to learn, and to process information. Quirky at times but also quite playful, they like to be active. They are often bold and confident. They definitely have an enthusiasm for life. It is not known if Asher has ever met a cat. He loves people and considers himself a cuddle dog. He loves attention and behind the ear scratches. He gets along with the dogs and children. As to training, it is progressing, but it would be best to start at the beginning on house and leash training. He is crate trained. He will first need to have an established bathroom routine (always after eating, playing, sleeping, and before bedtime). He will also need plenty of exercise and lots of attention.Daily exercise will support leash skills as well as socialization skills. It will be a new world to him with all the new sights, smells, sounds, and people along his walk. He will also benefit from mental stimulation in the form of activities and play toys. It will prevent boredom. A secure back yard (so he cannot dig his way out) would give him free time to play and burn off extra energy. Chihuahuas are known to be playful active dogs. Using the right guidance with consistency, repetition, and patience, will help him with the skills he needs to refresh or master. Cheerful praise and lots of treats will also go a long way in helping him master daily routines. If Asher sounds like your kind of canine companion, do not delay and apply for him today. The adoption fee for Asher is $500. That includes the cost of spaying/neutering, up to date vaccinations, foster care, rescue and transportation fees. To get the ball rolling, head over to our Adoption Application and submit your application today. A Dog Star representative will contact you within 24 hours. To speed up the process, contact your vet and give them permission to speak with us.If you do not get a response within 24 hours, check your spam folder.March 2, 2024, 6:26 am
