Story
Honey is a 7 1/2 year old Chihuahua female new to our rescue.  She is a tiny, nervous Queen with a big personality and even bigger boundaries.  So, a typical chihuahua:  a lot of sweet with a sprinkle of spice.  She doesnt mind cats and is good with other dogs.  Because of her need for boundaries, she would be best in a family without young children. She needs a patient, quiet home with someone who understands that trust takes time - preferably with a fellow pup to help show her the ropes. We will update her bio as she continues to open up to us. The adoption fee is $250 + tax and covers age-appropriate vaccines, a microchip, and a spay/neuter.  We're open from 12-4 PM every day EXCEPT Wednesday! Did you know you don't need to have an appointment to visit our available cats and dogs***? Simply drop by and if you find a potential new furry friend, you can fill out an application on the day you visit. Go to townandcountryanimalrescue.org to fill out our digital application. Applications are typically processed in 3-5 business days.  Once you're approved, you can return on the date and time set up by your adoption counselor, with your family for a meet and greet. If it goes well, you can take your new best friend home on the meet and greet day!  If you have other dogs in your home, they must all meet the potential adoptee.  It may save you a trip to bring them with you when you visit, if you are certain you want to adopt a new family member.  ***Please note that animals in foster homes cannot be viewed at our rescue, and appointments are still required to meet them.  Please be sure to follow us on Facebook to learn more about Town and Country Animal Rescue and our mission.  ##2355812##

Story
Libby - Female - 8lbs - DOB- 5/1/2024 In typical chihuahua fashion: Libby starts out sour.... and then is sweet. Libby likes to go on a couple of dinner dates before she falls head over heels in love with you!!!! This little lady is easy, give her a few snacks and she will be putty in your arms after a day or two. We do not know her history, however we know that she was brought into the Sioux City Shelter as a stray. She was beyond scared and and incredibly insecure (probably because her ears are too big for her body) LOL. Libby is potty trained, kennel trained, leash trained, and knows some basic commands...... so she was more than likely owned by someone at some point. Unfortunately this is a scenario that occurs every minute of every day- Humans. Dump. Animals. The reasons for this are endless, but it happens and it happens constantly. Take this tiny nugget on a few dates, and you will have your new Best Friend in no time! Apply for Libby today at www.nalarescue.org The Adoption Fee for Libby is $325 (a Tax Deductible Donation) . NALA Rescue is a home-based foster rescue and does not have a facility. If interested in meeting a dog, please apply at www.nalarescue.org. All dog meets are scheduled by appointment in advance only, if approved. Please note a Vet Check and Home Inspection are part of the application process. All shots, boosters, rabies, spay/neuter, and microchip is included in NALA Rescues Adoption Donation charged. All dogs/puppies are available until they are removed from this site so please no inquires if a dog is available.

Story
Meet Roxette! But her friends call her Roxy. She may not sing like the legendary pop duo from the 80s and 90s, but this girl is absolutely ready to take you on the ride of your life. A joyride, if you will.    Roxy is an adorable 7.5 month old, 12 lb Chihuahua mix (some   guesses are with  Beagle or  Dachshund) with a heart of gold. She loves being around her people and gets along wonderfully with all other dogs, cats, and even pigs. Roxette is a true crossover hit! She enjoys romping around with her canine buddies and then curling up for snuggles on the couch with her humans. Roxy had a tough start in life. She was found abandoned in the country, covered in fleas, ticks, sores, and parasites. But as the song goes, “It must have been love… but it’s over now.” Roxy has left that sad story behind and is ready for a brand new chart topping love story.   This smart little love bug is quickly learning to go potty outside, but also knows to use potty pads indoors. She’s crate trained, but prefers to be in the same room as her humans at night. After all, “listen to your heart, when she’s calling for you.” Roxy would thrive in a home with another dog who can show her the ropes, help build her confidence, and maybe harmonize with her if the moment strikes.    Sweet Roxette is spayed, fully vetted, vaccinated, dewormed, microchipped and ready for her forever family. If you’re ready to stop playing love songs on repeat and start living one, Roxy is waiting. All she needs now is someone to say, “She’s got the look… and she’s got my heart.” Her adoption donation is $415. Apply to adopt Roxette directly on our website in the dropdown menu at https://havenanimalrescuenebraska.org   PLEASE SUBMIT AN APPLICATION AT: https://havenanimalrescuenebraska.org/adoption-application We do not have a facility. All of our animals are in volunteer foster homes. Once an application is pre-approved (contingent upon a home check) we will contact applicants that are a good match and set up a time for a meet. At that time we are happy to answer all of your questions. No inquiries prior to that please. All of our animals are spayed/neutered, examined by a vet, up-to-date on vaccinations, on heartworm and flea/tick preventatives, and microchipped. We adopt our animals as strictly inside companion pets. We will do a veterinarian reference check and a home safety check. We are located in Omaha, NE and we do not ship our animals. We are all volunteers so please be patient with us. Our requested adoption fees help go towards medical expenses, food, transportation, toys, and other supplies for our animals. We are a state licensed, 501c3 nonprofit rescue and the adoption donation may be tax deductible for you.  Thank you for choosing adoption!! June 5, 2025, 1:33 pm

Story
Meet Queso! He’s an adorable 10-12 month old, 9.5 lb Chihuahua mix with a longer body. We pulled him from an overcrowded shelter where he had less than 24 hrs to live… That’s wild because he is an amazing dog. Queso loves all people and is a cuddle bug. He’s nearly potty trained now and is crate trained. This little nugget is good with kids and other dogs and likes to play with them. He enjoys toys, walks, snuggling, and is fairly low maintenance. He’s ready to live the good life! He doesn't bark much unless the others in the house start it. Queso is neutered, fully vetted and vaccinated, microchipped, on preventatives, and ready to meet his forever family! His adoption donation is $415. Story
I originally got Yeyo as a puppy back in 2018. my sister just kind of dropped him on me and I've done my best to fill his needs and take care of him since, making sure he was loved and taken care of. I am primarily looking to rehome Yeyo his own benefit, for financial reasons, as well as because I am moving in the near future. About a year and a half ago Yeyo accidentally impregnated my other dog and they have had 3 lovely puppies, two of which were born with cleft pallets. All 3 of Yeyo's offspring are now in good health but because of their medical conditions demand more time and attention and take time away from him. As I drastically need to down size the amount of animals under my care, I recognize that I am no longer able to devote the time and affection to Yeyo that he deserves, and want to find a home for him where he will be cared for and loved. He is very sweet and protective of his family and deserves a better home that what I can provide.

Story
Hello, we adopted Waffles about three years ago sosure of his age but we’ve always said his birthday was April 16, 2018. When I think of the best, most absolute, ideal home for Waffles it would be a truck driver. He loooooooves car rides, sits perfectly in the passenger seat and just rests his little head on the console. He is the perfect size, lanky, but you donfeel like he’s going to break if he jumps off the couch. He is the definition of a lap dog but isn’t so clingy that he has to be right on you. He’s content to sit next to you or snuggled under a blanket. He runs cold and prefers a sweater in the winter and will roast next to an electric fireplace. Waffles’ main issues are unpredictable children aka toddlers and marking. He has done well with a diaper we just are a busy family that can’t seem to stay consistent with taking them on and off. We have another dog that he gets along with, they share a kennel, but I sometimes think he would prefer a quieter house
