Story
Kennebec is a 1 yr 1 mth old male Chihuahua mix.  Kennebec and his brother Ronde did not have the best first year of life but we are going to change that going forward. We are going to find them the best home to take care and love them.  Kennebec is fearful at first but once he knows he can trust you he comes around.  It will take some time to trust humans again but give him a chance and it will happen.  As we learn more about them we will add to their bios. Come out and meet him to see if you are the family he needs. The adoption fee is $350 and covers age appropriate vaccines, a microchip, and a spay/neuter.  Applications are typically worked in time stamp order based on date/time of submission.  If you have other dogs in your home, they must all meet the potential adoptee.  It may save you a trip to bring them with you when you visit, if you are certain you want to adopt a new family member. *****We are currently operating by appointment only due to a shortage of personnel.   If you want to meet this pet, or are interested in adopting, please submit an inquiry or email to tchspapillion@gmail.com.  Someone from the rescue will contact you and/or your family and determine, on a broad level, whether you might be a fit for the animal.  If so, they will provide instructions for completing the application. Your application will be reviewed and you will be contacted to set up a time to meet at the shelter or the foster home.   The introduction between you and the pet will be supervised by one of the dog counselors or the foster.   If all goes well, you can adopt during the same visit. Please be sure to follow us on Facebook to learn more about Town and Country Humane Society and our mission. ##2051836##

Story
Jackson’s fur is so incredibly soft, it’s almost unbelievable! This adorable mystery mix has a heart as big as his smile, and though we can’t pinpoint his exact breed, one thing is for sure – he’s 100% cute. Weighing in at a cuddly 12 pounds and with about 5 years of love to give, Jackson gets along wonderfully with other dogs and is indifferent to the feline member of his foster family. Jackson’s journey to us began when he was surrendered to an overcrowded shelter due to his previous owners relocating. The shelter life made him a bit shy, hiding his true personality behind the kennel door. But don’t let that fool you – once he’s out and about, Jackson transforms into the happiest boy with a tail that won’t stop wagging! Adorned with charming spots, Jackson is a sight to behold. He’s likely to be a good companion for kids with his gentle nature. Not only is he housetrained, but he’s also mastered the art of using pee pads. An enthusiast of the great outdoors, Jackson would make the perfect garden buddy, helping you enjoy the serenity of nature. For those who love leisurely strolls, Jackson is your ideal walking partner, always well-behaved on the leash. But above all, Jackson cherishes time with his humans. He’s the epitome of a sweet, loving dog who enjoys nothing more than hanging out with his people. While Jackson may take a little extra time to warm up to men, his loyal heart always comes through in the end. If you’re looking for a furry friend to share in life’s quiet moments and joyful adventures, Jackson is the dog for you! To help pay for vet bills and care (transportation, food, toys, etc..) a $200 donation is requested at the time of adoption. All of our adoptions are contingent upon an approved application, home visit, reference check, obedience training agreement, and signing of adoption contract. All our dogs are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped before adoption. Our dogs are companion animals that live indoors as part of your family. Please do not apply if your plan is to have them as outside dogs, garage dogs, porch dogs or outside kennel dogs.  We do not ship dogs.   All of our dogs are in private foster homes. We are not a shelter with hours. A visit can be arranged after an adoption questionnaire has been filled out and sent in. Please try to email first. We are all volunteers that work so we can not easily take or make phone calls.May 24, 2024, 12:42 pm

Story
THIS POST WILL BE REMOVED WHEN THE DOG IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE. INQUIRIES ABOUT THE ADOPTION STATUS WILL NOT BE RETURNED. Skeeter is a one-year-old femaleChihuahua who loves to play with all the resident dogs and toys. In fact, she will coax you to play even if you’re not all that interested. She is still working on potty training and what is appropriate for dogs to chew on (after all she is a puppy)! A resident dog or two is a must! She goes in her kennel when she sees us getting ready to go out. She does prefer to cuddle in foster Moms’ arms at night. Skeeter is very timid around new people and it will take time to warm up but the wait will be worth it. Sophia "Skeeter" is a young female Chihuahua mix that found herself in Animal Control. When her family didn't come to claim her, she entered rescue and the welcoming arms of her foster family. Skeeter is shy of strangers and new environments but once you earn her trust, she is a total love-bug. Skeeter will need a patient adult-only family who will allow her to progress at her own pace, and a securely fenced yard (flight risk) with a resident canine companion. The suggested adoption donation for Skeeter is a minimum of $400 and goes toward the high cost of veterinary care for our rescue dogs.Wag N Train Terrier Rescue adopts to an extended geographical area as long as we can locate a local volunteer to perform the required home visit. Approved adopters are required to travel to Omaha, NE to pick up their newly adopted dog. We do not arrange transport, or fly our rescue dogs without a "pet nanny". All of our dogs that come from a commercial breeding facility require a securely fenced yard AND a resident companion dog, unless the dog's bio states otherwise. Please note, invisible or underground fencing is not considered secure or appropriate containment. Adoption applications can be found at www.wagntrainterrierrescue.com/adoption-information

Story
Bella (b. 7/2018), a Chihuahua/Dachshund Mix, is a bit misunderstood. Here's the thing with Bella, she LOVES her people and is a complete sweetheart who enjoys snuggling, playing in the backyard, and giving kisses and has done well with other dogs in her own home. However, she is a bit more particular when it comes to strangers and new dogs. Bella can get overprotective and has tried to use her teeth to deter new people from getting too close to her and, in some instances, has bitten. Bella has a good heart and will need an owner with lots of patience and willing to put in the work. Bella will need some training to help with her reactivity and how she responds to new people. She needs a well-fitted harness because if she can wiggle her way out of it and run, she will. Bella would prefer an adult-only home with somebody who works from home or is home often that can let her outside for frequent potty breaks, as her bladder can leak if you let it get too full - this may be due to her previous pregnancy or hysterectomy. Bella is really just looking for a family that will be understanding of her and take her for lots of walks with snuggles afterward! The suggested adoption donation for Bella is $265. Muddy Paws is a 501c3 non-profit organization which means that part of your donation MAY be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. We are a 100% volunteer rescue committed to giving animals a second chance at life. All donations go toward that mission. Adoption fees are the primary source of funding for the cost of veterinary care for our animals.  In 2020 alone, we were able to provide animal Healthcare costing over $241,000 covered mainly through adoption fees. Please Note: A Courtesy Post designates that an animal is still in the home of its owner and not in a Muddy Paws foster. This means that our exposure to the animal is limited since we are only assisting the owner in finding a new home for their pet. If needed, we will put you in touch with the owner if you have any questions. Information about the adoption process: All adoptions require a completed ADOPTION APPLICATION. Once your application is approved, we will put you in touch with the animal’s foster to see if you and the pet are a good match. If so, we will arrange a meeting for you and the animal. The adoptions for all of our animals will take place in the Omaha, NE area and must be done by the adoptive family in person. We do not ship or deliver.  Please Note: We are a RESCUE, which is different from a shelter. We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks during the application approval process. We always select the right applicant for each animal, based on the animal’s needs. If you and the animal are not a good match, we will help you select another animal, or we will keep your approved application on file for 6 months.  To learn about Muddy Paws Second Chance Rescue or donate to our animals, please visit our website at MuddyPawsSecondChanceRescue.com or our Facebook Page. ##1469617##

Story
Chip (b 7/2021) a Chihuahua. Chip is a laid-back guy that is looking for a place to exercise and have a consistent schedule.  Chip loves other dogs and would do great in a home with another fur sibling.  He is house trained but does mark but we are working on it. His nickname with his foster due to his "little dog syndrome" (he thinks he is the biggest, baddest boy on the block) is El Chapo. He takes a little bit to warm up to people but once he does, he will be on your lap, giving you kisses.  He is very curious and very goofy. The suggested adoption donation for Chip is $300, which includes a lifetime of free relationship-based training for any behavioral problems (not obedience training). Muddy Paws is a 501c3 non-profit organization meaning that part of your donation MAY be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. We are a 100% volunteer rescue committed to giving animals a second chance at life. All donations go toward that mission. Adoption fees are the primary source of funding for the cost of veterinary care for our animals.  In 2022 alone, we provided animal Healthcare totaling over $300,000 covered mainly through adoption fees. Information about the adoption process: All adoptions require a completed ADOPTION APPLICATION. Once your application has completed our prescreen steps, we will put you in touch with the animal’s foster to see if you and the pet are a good match. If so, we will arrange a meeting for you and the animal. The adoptions for all of our animals will take place in the Omaha, NE area and must be done by the adoptive family in person. We do not ship or deliver.  Alter Agreement:  If the dog or cat you adopt is older than 6 months of age and not spayed or neutered, you will receive a voucher to alter the pet at Val Verde Animal Hospital in Omaha, at no cost to you.  Or you can alter the pet at your own vet and be reimbursed $80 for dogs, and $50 for cats, of total cost.  If the dog or cat is younger than 6 months of age, adopter will be responsible for the cost of altering the pet at the vet of their choice.  If proof of alter is received by Muddy Paws prior to the pet turning 6 months of age, a reimbursement of $80 for dogs, and $50 for cats, will be sent to you to help cover expenses. All puppies and kittens MUST be spayed or neutered by 6 months of age.  All dogs and cats MUST be spayed or neutered no later than one month after adoption is finalized. Please Note: We are a RESCUE, which is different from a shelter. We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks, and a Home Visit (Virtual in some cases)  during the application approval process.
