Story
Little Luke first came to us as a tiny Chihuahua that had found himself on the euth list in an overcrowded Texas shelter. With the help of a partnering organization, Muddy Paws was able to bring Luke into the safety of rescue. Luke was soon adopted to a wonderful family, but over time he started having "tiffs" with the other dog in the home, so it was decided he might feel better in a home where he was the only dog.
Luke (b. 1/2017) is a loyal, very protective and loving boy. He is a high energy, 10lb Chihuahua Mix that would live his best life in a one dog home with a backyard or plenty of long, exciting walks, where his puppy parents can keep up with his zoomies. He loves basking in the summer sun and wearing sweaters in winter. His favorite treats are chicken, peanut butter, iceberg lettuce, melon and carob, and his favorite toys are Kong, snuffle and squeaky. He has some issues with going potty indoors and aggression towards other dogs, cats and anyone who tries to trim his nails.
Despite his distrust of other pets, the person who takes him home will gain a best friend and cuddle-a-holic who will stick to them like glue, especially when they're having a bad day.
The suggested adoption donation for Luke is $265, which includes a lifetime of free relationship-based training for any behavioral problems (not obedience training). Muddy Paws is a 501c3 non-profit organization meaning that part of your donation MAY be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. We are a 100% volunteer rescue committed to giving animals a second chance at life. All donations go toward that mission. Adoption fees are the primary source of funding for the cost of veterinary care for our animals. In 2022 alone, we provided animal Healthcare totaling over $300,000 covered mainly through adoption fees.
Information about the adoption process: All adoptions require a completed ADOPTION APPLICATION. Once your application has completed our prescreen steps, we will put you in touch with the animal’s foster to see if you and the pet are a good match. If so, we will arrange a meeting for you and the animal. The adoptions for all of our animals will take place in the Omaha, NE area and must be done by the adoptive family in person. We do not ship or deliver.
Please Note: We are a RESCUE, which is different from a shelter. We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks, and a Home Visit (Virtual in some cases) during the application approval process. We always select the right applicant for each animal, based on the animal’s needs. If you and the animal are not a good match, we will help you select another animal, or we will keep your approved application on file for 6 months.
