Meet little Topper, our good natured 'senior' chihuhua. We don't say this very often, but he is a dream dog. Topper weighs 12 lbs and is a good natured and confident nearly 9 year old boy. His foster mom says he is absolutely the easiest and sweetest dog. Calm, house trained, crate trained, seldom barks, ok with dogs, cats, and kids, loves walking on a leash, good in the car, and a great cuddler! We don't know how he ended up without a home, but it's obvious he was well cared for and well socialized. If you're looking for a well adjusted small dog, Topper is your boy. Shaila is an adorable 8 lb chihuahua with a face like a pug. She is only 6 months old.She's cuddly, loves to be with her person, pretty much obedient at such a young age, and making progress on house training. Shaila should be easy to train as she loves treats and playShe loves people of all types. Shaila is great with other dogs and has an enthusiastic play style She does love to cuddle with her canine foster sibling. She would much rather be with you than her crate but she will go into the crate, protesting and crying. The foster has noted that her protests are getting shorter, so she is adjusting. She may not be a good fit in a dwelling with shared walls. Shailas perfect home would be with someone who is home much of the time and loves to cuddle and play. Another dog in the home would be fine but should be brought to any meet n greet to ensure the feeling is mutual. This little pretty has not had an easy go of it, as she spent many days in emergency care for Parvo and then some (over $8,000 in vet bills!)  Pretty Girl is healthy now and making up for lost time. She is a petite princess and can sometimes be bossy with other dogs.  She has had some exposure to cats in her current foster home. The cats there do not put up with dog nonsense. She is ready to have all your attention to herself. She can be a little timid and unsure so she will need to have your heart and your time.  Because of her rough past, she can be a flight risk.  She will need a physical 3 foot fenced yard that she cannot escape from and since she is so tiny, their can't be any spaces she will fit through. Pretty Girl is still working on leash training so a secured area will be the safest place to get her used to her new family and a leash.  Just be patient with her and you won’t be disappointed.  Pretty Girl is working on using the doggie door and piddle pads in her foster home. Poor Toby was abused by his previous owners and then left behind to fend for himself after the abusers moved out. Toby is doing great learning to trust humans. Toby is dog selective when it comes to other dogs but is fine with most dogs his size. Toby is doing great on crate training and can be crated after his foster mom worked with him on crating. Toby knows how to use a doggy door and will use a pee pad if he doesn't have access to the doggy door. Toby is very smart and loves all the attention he can get. He loves to spend time hanging out on your lap for love and attention.  Toby would be great as an only dog or could coexist with a friendly dog of his choice of course! Toby knows to sit and knows the word no. Toby is vocal when seeing other dogs. This handsome guy received a lot of love and potty training from his foster until he entered our DASH Prison Training Program.  He will continue to hone in on his basic commands. His foster says "he does well with other pups, he is a lovebug".  He is a lot of fun, loves to play and gets along with other dogs. He can be vocal at times, especially in his crate. He enjoys an occasional visit on the furniture and can be a little sound sensitive. The trainer is working on his people greeting skills. At times he will jump on his humans but he's just really happy to be so loved. This guy is a crowd pleaser, so don't wait to turn in an application.
