Story
Everything is better with chocolate…and with me, Hershey Chocolate! I’m a nine-pound, six-year-old male chihuahua, fully vetted, vaccinated, neutered, microchipped, and up-to-date on heartworm medication. I get my name from my chocolate-colored fur and my sweet disposition. Won’t you give me a try? I may take a little time to warm up to you, but once I do, I’m a super-snuggly boy. I enjoy snuggling in blankets, but I love cuddling with my favorite person even more. I like to be held like a baby, and I promise to shower you with kisses and be your loyal companion, following you wherever you go! Because I am blind and hard of hearing, I need some extra care and attention. I’ll need a fenced yard so I can roam without going too far. I also get anxious when I’m around kids or other animals, so I’ll need a quiet home where I’m the only baby. If you keep me on a schedule, I’m pretty good with my housetraining, but I’m also agreeable to wearing a belly band to prevent accidents in the house. I also don’t mind being in my crate; my foster mom leaves the door open so I can come and go as I please. If you’ve always longed for chocolate that doesn’t make your waistband tighter, look no further! I’m guaranteed to sweeten every moment with no unwanted side effects! Hershey Chocolate’s adoption fee is $300. If you are interested in adopting Hershey Chocolate, please DO NOT SEND A MESSAGE TO OUR RESCUE GROUP. We are too busy placing dogs in great homes to answer messages and inquiries through the listing site. PLEASE GO TO THE LINK BELOW TO COMPLETE AN ADOPTION APPLICATION. www.chihuahua-rescue.com/adoption-application CRT requires an approved adoption application and a home visit for all adoption applicants. CRT transports to OH, KY, IL, MI, MN, and WI.

Story
Elmer is an eleven pound Chi mix that is full of love and kisses... but only after he feels comfortable enough not to bite your face off. I mean... he is a chihuahua after all. All joking aside, we believe him to be approximately 8 years young with a zest for life. Even though he has been said to not like all men, the men he's met so far he's been okay with. He did better while taking pictures with Santa, than most children. Elmer is likely to get nervous at first in his new home and will need proper time to settle in before becoming best friends. Proper decompression is the key to his success. He can be easily spooked with fast movements but builds trust quickly once he realizes that he is safe from harm. Something to help with this, is another doggy friend for Elmer to call his sibling. Elmer seems most comfortable with canines alike and this would help him be most successful in his new home!Once you are in... you are totally in and Elmer shows his affection by covering you in kisses and being super snuggly with his cuddles. He's a dog that doesn't know how to hold his licker... so be prepared for lots of PDA. He is also happy to just sit in your lap or lay in the crook of your arm to take a nap. Elmer is reluctant to getting in his crate, once he is in it, he will bark and grumble for a short time but will eventually settle down. When he is let out of his crate, he will jump up while walking to the door to go outside to do his business. Elmer gets along fine with all dogs, big and small in his foster home. He did some marking when first arriving to his foster home, this stopped after one week of his arrival. Elmer's teeth look really good for his age, very little tarter and "decent" breath. He is definitely a dog that needs time to adjust to change, but once he loves you, he loves you with all his heart. If you would like to meet this cute little guy and possibly add him to your family, please complete an application at PawPatrolDayton.com/adopt. His adoption fee is $210. Elmer is neutered, current on vaccinations, Heartworm negative, and he is microchipped. All of our animals are vaccinated, micro-chipped and spayed/neutered before being adopted.

Story
The ears, the eyes, the handsome Freddy is the full package! Freddy is a sweet boy looking for a family to give him the love he deserves. Freddy is a hodgepodge mix breed who is probably about a year and a half old. Freddy is a smaller guy but does not let his size stop him, he is a curious adventurer who loves to learn more about the world around him, Freddy needs a family who will be patient while he is still learning how to be the best boy. Freddy is working on nailing potty training and basic commands, but he has really been “getting it” when it comes to his crate and being on a leash. Freddy likes smuggle toys to his crate and save them for later as well. Freddy is shy at first, but worth the wait! Freddy will go home microchipped, neutered and up to date on vaccines. You can apply to adopt Freddy at www.pawpatroldayton.com/adopt . Freddy’s adoption fee is $285. All of our animals are vaccinated, micro-chipped and spayed/neutered before being adopted.

Story
Introducing Kip! Kip is a sweet 11 year old, 7 lb long haired Chihuahua. He found his way to CRT when his momma passed away and the extended family was unable to take him in due to allergies. Kip is a VERY happy-go-lucky dog. He’s outgoing, likes everything and is not afraid of much! His foster mom says he’s very easy to get long with, laid back and will occasionally bark at the TV while watching it. Kip gets along with other dogs, loves to be near his people and adores pets. He has a very soft coat, and thankfully doesn’t mind being brushed! Kip is potty trained and will do his business outside, but in a pinch is aware of what puppy pads are for. Kip loves to be outside and to explore, but he also is often found curled up with his canine foster siblings after they have groomed him. Kip does have kidney disease, but it is controlled with a special diet at this time. No medication is currently needed. He is neutered, UTD on vaccines, HW Negative and on HW preventative. His adoption donation is $250.00. If you are interested in the above dog, please do not email us and tell us that you are interested, but submit an adoption application. The link for the application is below. To submit an application go here……chihuahua-rescue.com/adoption-application/ An application must be submitted and approved before a meet-n-greet can be scheduled. Your current dogs/cats must be spayed or neutered unless a veterinarian has determined that your current pet(s) should not be fixed due to medical reasons. They must also be up-to-date on shots and on HW preventative. Reference checks and a home visit are required so dogs can only be adopted in NC/SC, VA, TN, AL, MD, GA, OH, KY, MI, WI, and IL. Kip is currently located in Michigan, any adopter located outside our Midwest Region (OH, KY, MI, WI & IL) will be responsible for paying the additional cost of a flight to transport him to his forever home if ground transport is not available. The cost of a flight typically costs $125, and Kip will be flown in cabin and escorted by an airline volunteer.

Story
Introducing Bailey! This little girl, along with 2 siblings, came from a shelter in NW Georgia. They were born on 2/8/2024 and their mother is a Chihuahua/terrier mix. Bailey currently weighs about 6 pounds. Bailey is a typical puppy with loads of energy and loves to play with toys. She gets along very well with the 3 other small dogs in her foster home. There are no cats in the foster home but it is expected that she would be ok with them. Bailey is good in the car, has no problem with a leash and harness, and sleeps in a crate at night or when her foster mom runs errands. She is in the process of being potty trained to go outside and a fenced yard would definitely be a plus. Bailey really has an adorable personality, is super friendly and loves to snuggle too! With some continued training she will make a wonderful pet. A family with children would be ok as long as they are older because she still jumps and her baby teeth are sharp! She is vetted and is up to date with vaccinations but is not spayed yet (will be done at 6 months) and therefore she will be considered foster to adopt status until she is old enough to be spayed. Bailey will be microchipped prior to adoption as well. Her adoption donation is $350.00. If you are interested in the above dog, please do not email us and tell us that you are interested, but submit an adoption application. The link for the application is below. They must also be up-to-date on shots and on HW preventative. Reference checks and a home visit are required so our southeast dogs can only be adopted in NC/SC, VA, TN, AL, MD and GA. She may also be transported to adoptees in our midwest region (OH, KY, IL, MI, WI, MN).

Story
Hi there! Look no further because I’m your girl!  My name is Izzy and I am 1 year old and 6 lbs. Still in my puppy phase but learning how to be a big girl.  I am very playful and have lots of energy so I need someone to take me outside for walks and to play with me. I am good with other dogs and another playful dog would be a plus for me.  I even like bigger dogs to play with! My uncle’s dog, Barrett the St. Bernard, is my bestest friend. But I don’t see him every day.  Like I said, I have lots of energy but I do take my quiet time naps when foster mom goes away. I have my own little space in the guest room bathroom where my comfy crate awaits with all of my stuffed toys.  I have been a good girl around 6 and 7 year old boys but they really make me nervous so foster mom only allows me to be with them when she is watching. Because I am a Chihuahua I could easily nip if a child scares me so a home with no small kids is best.  I like to play in the fenced in backyard (that is the only place I am off leash because I am very fast) but foster mom watches me pretty close. I like to chew on sticks which is OK with her but it seems eating rocks is not allowed at this establishment. Heehee.  She is spayed, UTD on vaccines, HW Negative and on HW preventative.  Her adoption donation is $300.00. If you are interested in the above dog, please do not email us and tell us that you are interested, but submit an adoption application. The link for the application is below. The cost of a flight typically costs $125, and Izzy will be flown in cabin and escorted by an airline volunteer.
