Usher is a 6-year-old, 28 lb Chihuahua-Dachshund mix with the perfect balance of energy and chill. Sporting a signature mohawk (because of course he does), he’s got “Superstar” energy—always ready to play hard with his toys but just as happy “Nice & Slow” curled up by your side. Since being in his foster home, he has experienced a few seizures. He has been seen by a vet and his bloodwork came back normal, so he has started on medication and has been doing well. Since he may need a little "extra" love, the rescue can work with an adopter on a specialized adoption plan. This little heart-stealer found himself in rescue after his beloved owner had to enter long-term care. Clearly well-loved and cared for, Usher is looking for that special person to be his “Number One”. He tends to bond deeply with one person and wants to be their loyal shadow. In his foster home, he’s chosen his foster mom as his bestie, but he’s also gentle and friendly with the 10- and 12-year-old kids in the home and gets along well with other small and medium-sized dogs. One thing to note—Usher hates the crate. It makes him extremely anxious, so he’d do best in a home where crating isn’t necessary (and where cozying up under blankets is highly encouraged—“Can U Handle It?”) The good news? He’s not destructive when left alone and is pee pad trained, with only rare accidents outside the pads. With patience and consistency, he could likely transition to outdoor potty training. Usher is neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations, and ready to say “U Got It Bad” - throw the toy he will bring it right back. Harry, Henry and Luna were born 9-28-21. They are pee pad trained and were never outside. They are chihuahua/pug mix. Harry is long hair and the other 2 are short hair. We had to teach them English and deal with their fear of the outside world. It took several months for them to acclimatize to shelter living and getting brave enough to leave the cage. Going outside was a scary event for them. They are still nervous about leashes and we carry them outside. They are walking once out. The boys are doing better than their sister Luna. They are very dependent on each other for comfort. We are looking for a family for them that has enough love and patience to continue their learning the outside is not such a bad place. UPDATE: 9-8-24 the 3 amigos are now walking on leash and walking out the door. They have made good progress in the last month.

Krypto & Lola are very playful, full of energy and love going on walks! Krypto is very food and treat driven and prefers people over dogs, except his sister Lola, who is also looking for a new home. Lola was adopted from a local Pittsburgh shelter when she was 1.5 years old. She had experienced a challenging time early on, however she does really well with Krypto to show her the way. She can be skittish and weary of new people at first but does warm up. She is a sweetheart dog and loves to be with her family. I would prefer they go to a new family together but willing to go separate if it seems like a good fit. I hope to stay in touch with the new family and would love to help out by watching them during your vacation/when needed!
