AJ is located in TEXAS. There are not enough homes for all the unwanted dogs down here, so he is willing to relocate for a good, loving, forever home. X-Rays show that AJ has back problems and needs a daily anti-inflammatory (Meloxidyl). He needs this medication every day. He also needs dog steps to get on and off furniture and a bit of care when he is picked up to avoid hurting his back. Applicants must be able to afford his medication (which is not expensive) and be able to take him to the vet as needed. AJ was an owner surrender. The son fell on hard times and left AJ with his parents. The parents wanted to rehome him because they had financial problems of their own and because he was not housetrained. However, we have not had any problems with him going potty in the house. He goes to the door when he wants out. AJ is a very handsome chihuahua weighing 10 pounds. He is an older guy, maybe around 8 years of age. AJ is a very good boy and not a stereotypical chihuahua. He is wary of new people but warms up with time. AJ is crate-trained and well-behaved in the house. He rides well in the vehicle, walks well on a leash, and comes when called. AJ is fairly quiet, he only barks when he wants to come back in the house after he goes outside. He spends most of his time lying on the couch or in his bed. He does like treats. And we think he was playing a little bit with our poodle. He does get bossy and will try to dominate the larger male dogs. One of our large males did get mad at him and cuffed him to put him in his place. So we would recommend that he not be allowed to interact with larger dogs that might hurt him. AJ is fine with other small dogs and would probably also do well with cats. AJ is small and delicate and must be protected from rough treatment by children or big dogs that could hurt him. He must also be protected from raptors and other outdoor predators. AJ must be in the house as a loved member of the family. He must be walked on a leash and would like a fenced yard to run and play. AJ is healthy. He is neutered, fully vaccinated (DAPPvL2, Bordatella, rabies), and microchipped. AJ is heartworm negative and on monthly heartworm and flea prevention. He had a dental and his 4 upper incisors had to be removed. The rest of his teeth were in good shape. We would really love AJ to have a fabulous forever home. His adoption fee covers the cost of ground transport via Rescue Road Trips for pickup in Washington or New Stanton PA. He is being fostered in Texas and we do not have the resources to send him north until after he is adopted. Ernest Goes To Jail, yes, to my embarrassment and dismay, I was found as a stray and spent some time in the doggie slammer. It seemed like forever!! But this rescue found me and is trying to find me my fur-ever home to give me my freedom ride! Yes, Ernest Rides Again!!! I'm just hoping your home is my last ride!! I have been working on the whole house and crate training thing. I may have spent most of my life outside but I've caught on quickly. I coming to see that this whole living inside with a soft bed and a warm lap to lay on is pretty darn nice!! I would do best in a quiet adult only home. I'm needing my space but will come seeking companionship when I want it. Kinda like a cat in that sense. I do well with other dogs that aren't too bouncy and constantly in my space. At 9 years and only 11lbs I would make a great family addition that is looking for a great lil guy that is already out of that destructive stage but still enjoys neighborhood strolls and catching some rays in the backyard. If you're looking for that needy pup that is always under foot seeking you attention, I'm not your boy. But if you want an independent lil guy that is just happy being in the same room, I might just be your lil man!! I would love to be your lil side kick....so what do ya say? I'm looking to adopt me a family so let me start off by telling you a little about Me! I'm a lovebug for sure, I love everyone I get to meet. I'm a happy playful bouncy boy ready to take this big ole world by storm. I also am very good with all my foster 'siblings'. Nothings beats chasing each other and stealing...err I mean sharing toys. At only 4 months I have already got going potty on pee pads down. It won't take me long to be completely housetrained. Yep, I'm a smart lil cookie eager to learn and please my people. At 8lbs I should be a nice size of 16-18lbs when I get fully growed up. I will be a great pawtner on neighborhood strolls or some milder nature hikes. Biscuit and her siblings were not living in the best of situations when we received the call about them. They are now safe, dry and warm and getting lots of love. And ready to start their life with their very own family. These sibling were all named after desserts so you can have your daily dose of sweetness without any of the guilt!! The color Sienna represents both passion and emotion and is a color of strong sentiments. In other words, it can be rather intense. My stunning colored coat and intense love of playing got me the perfect name!! I'm a sweetheart of a pup that loves playing with my people. Sometimes I get too into playing and will take your hand in my mouth. I will sometimes need to be reminded that peoples hands are not toys but I'm doing well with working on that. I also do well playing with the other foster pups and would love to have a playful sibling to chase around the yard stealing...err I mean sharing toys!! I'm a playful energetic gal that will need daily exercise and playtime, but with that in I should do great in any home environment whether it's in town or out in the country. At only 2 years old and 16lbs, I'm always ready to accompany you on any of your outdoor activities but I'm also ready to cuddle anytime too! I'm already house and crate trained, now that's a pretty nice combo for my new family!
