Story
Oreo is a 10 week old nugget, adorable little mixed breed puppy and we think she is so cute we can hardly stand it! She is well socialized, friendly, loves to play with her dog friends, LOVES people, and is just generally a very good time. Hobbies are napping, eating, finding mischief, and stealing kisses! Waiting for her forever home Oreo Is spayed/neutered, up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations, treated for all of the intestinal parasites, and current on flea/tick and heartworm preventative. Because intestinal parasites are cyclical, your puppy may need additional treatment once you get him/her home. This is common and nothing to be alarmed about. Puppies and dogs need to be treated periodically for parasites throughout their entire lives. The adoption fee is $550 if your adoption is prepaid prior to your pup's arrival. An additional $50 will be charged on puppies that are picked up from our Southbury CT adoption center, adopted at an event, or foster home. This additional fee is necessary in order to comply with CT HB 5368. WANT TO MEET OUR DOGS IN PERSON? Check the Events tab on cprdogs.com for all weekend adoption event info. The majority of the dogs marked as 'meet me' will be there to see you! More and more of our adopters are having fun with DNA tests on their pups. You might ask yourself why our breed guess is varying degrees of difference from the DNA tests. Most of our puppies are rescued from high kill shelters or other abandonment situations and we have no info on parents. When we rescue puppies that have no background info, we make our very best educated guess as to breed mix and age. Our guesstimate comes from years and years and years of animal welfare work and training, but our guesses won't always agree with your vet, your neighbor, your DNA test, etc. The most important thing to know about your puppy's breed mix is that most likely he/she is a Super Lovable Mutt made of many many many different breeds. If you are a MA resident, your new family member is required to go through a mandatory 48 hour quarantine period at the Woburn MA isolation facility. Your new family member will be dropped off by our transport on Thursday and will be ready for you to pick him/her up on Saturday between 11 am-1 pm. An additional $100 fee will be added for any dogs picked up from the Woburn MA quarantine facility. This additional fee is necessary in order to comply with MA Order 405-CD-12 and Order 1-AHO-05. TO APPLY PLEASE GO TO www.cprdogs.com. If your application was successfully submitted you will get an automatically generated confirmation email. Please DO NOT USE the ADOPTAPET "CONTACT THIS RESCUE GROUP" form below or you may not hear from us as these often end up in spam or bouncing back. After receipt of your application, an adoption counselor will then be in touch to answer your questions about this pup, discuss the adoption process and get the ball rolling! If you have not heard from one of our volunteers within 5 days of submitting your application, please email mollibo@gmail.com.

Story
Give a warm welcome to Fortaleza, an adorable 2-year old, 16-pound Dachshund/Chihuahua mix who is the absolute epitome of sweetness and serenity. Friendly and good-natured, Fortaleza gets along beautifully with humans of any age and dogs of all sizes. She doesn’t really play with other pups yet, but she is quite comfortable in their presence. She shares her possessions with ease, including beds and blankets, and doesn’t get territorial around bones, food or treats. She has a gentle mouth, a wagging tail, and she avoids drama at all cost. Fortaleza is 100% housebroken and walks like a pro on a leash. She has a fast-paced trot, great endurance, and she loves getting fresh air. She barely sheds, she rarely barks, and she travels without fear or anxiety. Her favorite thing in the whole wide world? Getting and giving affection! This girl is all about cuddles, caresses, and kisses. Pet her and she’s in ecstasy. Rub her ears and watch her melt. Fortaleza is happiest being her human(s), including during the overnight hours, especially if allowed a spot at the foot of your bed. She sleeps like a rock all night and will only stir in the morning when she needs to go out. Smart and obedient, all you have to do is say no or off to Fortaleza and she will listen. She is lovely around new people, she quickly picks up cues, and she has acclimated to city living in record time. Fortaleza can be active, yet equally loves to chill out. She will follow your lead and adapt to the energy level of the household. And she’s portable enough to take anywhere. As long as there is love in the air, Fortaleza is solid gold. This is one VERY special dog and whoever adopts Fortaleza will have hit the doggie jackpot! So go get her now and cash in on your prize!  ALL our cats and dogs are in the NY area but can be adopted out of state to the purrfect furever home.  In some cases, we can help transport.  Zani's al fresco Summer Adoptions  follow us on FB to find us this summer as we will try new locations to meet the needs of NYC and support the little stores:)     4-month-old Jerry from Puerto Rico loves to play & will be a great family dog.     All dogs are located in NY/NJ area All our puppies need puppy play dates/doggy facetime so we recommend homes with other pups or daily interactions to keep them tired out, happy and social.     Facebook: Zani's Furry Friends ZFF (weekly adoption event info posted there) Twitter: zanisff  Instagram: zanisfurryfriends   Dogs are spayed/neutered, UTD on age appropriate vaccines, Rabies vaxed, and microchipped (not Lyme vaxed but we seriously recommend it!)  All are in the NY/NJ area but we will adopt out of state to the purrfect home and in some cases, we can arrange transport.  Please go to our site  https://zanisfurryfriends.org  fill out an application  Many of us (cats/dogs) will be on display on Saturdays or Sundays, weather dependent--please ask by writing us at dogs@zanisfurryfriends.org and following us on FB. If you are seriously interested in adopting one of us in particular, please fill out an application early Friday so that we can be sure to be there. Otherwise we decide based on other variables. Usually we are in our foster homes so this is a bit more stressful and a slightly artificial environment but we do want to be seen and find our furever homes too.   Please consider providing a home for more than one dog, especially if you are considering adopting a puppy. Dogs are pack animals and very much enjoy as well as need other dog company to learn to play, socialize and be good companion animals to people. The upside to this is that you won't feel as guilty leaving them alone and you get twice the love. Please come! And if you can't adopt, maybe you can foster or volunteer, and you can always donate!  If you want to know about cats/dogs specifically being shown at our adoption locations, please email us info@zanisfurryfriends.org closer to the date so we know your interest and will make every effort to have that pet at the event or let you know how and where you can meet.  It is extemely helpful and speeds up adoption if the application is filled out prior to visiting us so please do that before coming to our weekend events. Our weekend locations are: Saturdays or Sundays, weather dependent  Follow us on FB, Zani's Furry Friends ZFF, for latest updates. Usually we are in our foster homes so all this is a bit more stressful but we do want to be seen and find our furever homes. Please come! And if you can't adopt, maybe you can foster or volunteer. And you can always donate:) Cats and Dogs are spayed/neutered, UTD w/ all age appropriate shots and microchipped. Cats are feline combo tested for FIV/FeLV; dogs are heartworm tested and rabies vax'd, (NOT lyme vaxed but we seriously recommend it); rabbits are spayed/neutered. Please fill out an application and email to: For Cats: cats@zanisfurryfriends.org For Dogs: dogs@zanisfurryfriends.org For Rabbits: nyc.acc.rabbits@gmail.com. Please visit our website zanisfurryfriends.org.

Story
This little boy we think looks like a dachshund mix, He is approx 4 yrs and 18 lbs. He overall is a good dog. He does love love to run and play but since he does not like to share his food and can play rough, we feel he would be best as an only dog. He will follow his foster everywhere and will sit at her feet when she is sitting down, he walks well on a leash and likes going on walks and riding in the car , his tail is always wagging He takes a while to warm up to new people, but is your best friend once he does. He LOVES to eat so is very food motivated. He seems to be pretty well house trained and is very smart he learns very quickly and would love a home with someone who can take him on walks . He did have heartworms when we rescued him and has been treated with the injections per the American heartworm Society , we usually find the dogs test clear in approx 4- 6 months. He has been started on monthly heartguard and nexguard and will need to stay on them for life (as should all dogs) He has a condition that is sometimes found in tri-color dogs and prevents the black hair from growing , it’s usually a genetic condition and means that the black portions of his coat are smooth - it is called black hair follicular dysplasia - He doesn’t need meds or any vets care it’s just the way he is OUR RESCUE POLICY - It is our rescue policy for all our dogs that we require a home with no children under the age of 12, and experienced dog owners only. WE REQUIRE VET RECORDS ON YOUR CURRENT OR PAST DOG FOR OUR REVIEW. RECORDS MUST SHOW THE POTENTIAL ADOPTER AS THE OWNER The total adoption fee of $600 ( and includes the required interstate health certificate and transport , spay/neuter, shots including rabies, bordatella, parvo, distemper and canine influenza, and microchip. The total amount is payable to Shaggy Dog Rescue which is a 501c3. We also provide a free wellness visit to the South Wilton Vet group if convenient for you. Some of our dogs are still in Texas in foster care. Our application is online at https://www.houstonshaggydogrescue.org/apply/
