At just 3 years old, Wizard Waverly is a bright, curious, and affectionate pup who’s learning what it means to be loved and cared for. Wizard came to us from a heartbreaking situation — a home with over 30 dogs living in unsafe conditions. Thanks to the efforts of multiple rescues (including ours!), Wizard and his friends finally got their chance at a better life. Despite his rough start, Wizard’s resilience shines through every day. He’s housebroken, crate-trained, and making great progress learning to use the doggy door. He’s still working on his leash training, but he’s such a smart boy that he’s picking it up quickly! Wizard loves toys, especially ones he can chase or squeak, and he’ll happily entertain himself or join in a play session with his humans. Wizard can be a bit shy and skittish when meeting new people or encountering new situations — understandable given his past — but once he feels safe, his sweet, snuggly side shines. Each dog is then placed in a foster home where he/she is kept for quarantine, to ensure if the dog gets sick it can receive proper treatment. We have foster homes in the NJ/NY area waiting to receive their fosters. Once an animal has received an application or there's an adopter interested, we make arrangements for transport. If a dog is already in foster care in NYC/NJ, an adopter will be put in touch with the foster home AFTER an application is being processed.
